We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There is a lot of variety in Power BI. In particular, the visuals are quite rich and the feature set has been growing rapidly in the last two years. Possibly the best part for me is that there are a lot of ways to connect with data sources.""We have a lot of servers and applications from which we want reports, and it allows us to create reports from an SQL source or some other source.""The most valuable features of Microsoft BI are its intuitiveness and ease to use.""The interface is very fluid.""PowerBI – Self-service BI.""I think the visualization part is valuable.""I have found the quick reporting and the conductivity with all the data sources valuable.""There is continual improvement year-over-year."

"It is definitely easy to use. It is intuitive, and more or less, everything can be done from the front end. As such, there is no concept of metadata. You can just take data from a database and start building your own stuff, such as OLAP data warehouse. You don't need extensive metadata modeling like Oracle BI.""The solution is easy to use, flexible, our clients enjoy seeing the data on maps, and you do not need to be an expert in SQL to use it.""The most valuable feature is the 3D charting.""Visualization attributes: Marks – Color, Size, Label, etc.. Easily Accessible and Intuitive.""The dashboards are amazing, with different report types and stunning visuals. Most importantly, Tableau's AI with machine learning automatically predicts features and reports based on historical data. These are the three most valuable features for me.""Data Interpreter: Which can identify issues or potential errors with your imported data.""The most valuable feature is that we can integrate with our own database, and it will displays the KPIs. This is highly required from the business side.""The solution allows for the possibility for end-users to do their own reporting."

"We use the solution for financial and sales analytics. It brings data from our IT incident management tool. Hence, we have three business use cases for IT support, sales and financials.""The solution’s dashboard is very good.""The data source is the most valuable feature as it can perform any function.""We can create advanced-level reports with the tool. We can get data from different Zoho applications and also from other third-party applications. We can create schedules for syncing data from third parties to Zoho Analytics. We can also use table queries for getting data from more than one table.""Zoho Analytics's most valuable feature is the ability to provide excellent analytics through a single platform.""It provides insights into leads, information about the team and about various sales activities. The graphical representations in the form of charts is excellent.""We moved the data from Zoho Creator to Zoho Analytics and created reports.""The front end of this solution including the graph generation using SQL has been most useful."

Cons
"I would like Microsoft to include some inbuilt machine learning so that it becomes point-and-click, rather than us developing models out of API and BI connecting to that and getting the results. That process gets in the way of continuity.""Power BI's administration could use some work, and the user experience needs to improve because it is a client-based tool. If you want to generate a model or report, you need to use client tools, but client tools are limited for end-users who don't have enough hardware. For example, maybe a client lacks enough memory or CPU power for report generators. If you use a model that requires a massive amount of data, your client will face several problems.""If you are having millions of rows of data or you have a large database, Microsoft BI's performance depends upon how powerful your hardware is. When I am handling large amounts of data I do not use Microsoft BI or Tableau because of this, I use D3.""Its desktop tool is a little bit memory CPU intensive, and it can be improved, but the machines nowadays come with a lot of memory. For the desktop users who are using it on the desktop, we recommend that they do an upgrade. It is a minor issue. We can fix it on the desktop.""In an upcoming release, the solution could be simplified and have a more complete product package rather than a suite of products that we have to put together.""There's always room for improvement for Microsoft Power BI, especially for the UX and the menus to make it more accessible to business users.""Power BI could have better metadata management. It's easy to use for a single person. However, it lacks an enterprise-grade metadata management system, which can be a problem if you're doing an enterprise deployment with multiple users.""There are some problems with the functionality of this solution. The dashboard is not very user friendly and is quite complicated."

More Microsoft Power BI Cons →

"A strict security measure is needed. I believe it is weak in terms of security.""We have products like Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, and QlikView in the data visualization segment. Compared to those, Tableau is quite costly.""Maybe the price could be a bit cheaper, especially if you're a personal developer that uses Tableau just to explore smaller data sets and you're not a company or something like that.""SAP BusinessObjects has some semantic layer designs that give the flexibility to do ad hoc reporting or dashboard designing. If that can be brought into Tableau, it would be great. We have the data in the database, but we should also be able to bring something between the database and the dashboard and do some semantic layer modeling for ad hoc reporting requirements.""We did have issues with Tableau 10.1 server with the brokers failing on heavy load but since moving to 10.2, then to 10.3, this issue seems to have been resolved and the environment is now quite stable.""There should be more widgets that would help less trained individuals create charts with less difficulty.""I have noticed that Tableau is not very compatible with ClickHouse. There's no direct connection to ClickHouse; you have to set up an ODBC connection.""The pricing is high. I'm using a student license, however, I know that even this license is very expensive. I've tried to have this product in our organization, however, it's quite expensive. We don't have the internal budget."

More Tableau Cons →

"It would be great to have more user input fields which can be used on dashboards.""I have a lower rating when it comes to Zoho Analytics. The tool has poor performance. It needs to improve the dimensions and measures.""The tool needs to improve analysis and add more features.""I like the solution's Query Table feature which helps me write SQL queries. We can get data from different tables and then use it to create reports.""The customer service and support for this solution could be improved by faster response times.""The solution does not provide call center facilities for customer support.""They should provide white labeling with a cheaper option. I know they have a white labeling feature in which I can white label Zoho Analytics with my company theme, logo, and URL, but it seems a little expensive. If they can make it cheaper, it would be great. The same is applicable to Tableau.""The solution's tasks and project management tools are weaker than those of its competitors."

  • "I would recommend looking at your usage and whether the Zoho One license model would work for your organisation. It is very cost effective if you use other Zoho tools."
