We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"For report scheduling, I always prefer SAP because it has the most powerful scheduling features, like sending reports to more than 1,000 customers per day. That option is not as good in Microsoft BI and in Tableau it only exists as an add-on option.""This product provides good reports using a single pane of glass.""What I like best about this solution is that it is built into the SAP line, making it easier to integrate with other SAP products.""SAP Analytics Hub offers a user-friendly interface with effortless configuration, seamless updates, and real-time availability of information. It avoids the complexities associated with batch processing, providing a smooth and efficient experience.""Data consistency is also a notable feature; the system takes care of data consistency, so you don't need to handle it manually."

"Tableau's initial setup was straightforward.""I have found many of the self-service features valuable.""Better interaction and less time spent with end users.""It gives us a new dimension to the way that we analyse our data.""Tableau will automatically show charts for the related data that I choose making it very easy to use.""It most valuable feature is its ease of developing visualizations, not just charts and graphs.""Its dashboarding is the most valuable. It is easy to create visualizations and dashboards and import Excel sheets and ESP files in Tableau as compared to other tools.""All features are valuable. It is very user-friendly, and it is mostly drag-and-drop. If we have the dataset available, then we can develop any dashboard very quickly."

"Ask Zia is a great feature that I use to quickly decide what improvements I need to make in order to present the data that I want to show.""It's a very strong analytics tool.""The most valuable feature of Zoho Analytics is its connectivity with ERP systems and the functionality to set up different fields for leads.""We really like that it's user friendly and has a lot of combinations and charts. They're good compared to other tools. We used a free Elastic product, comparatively, this solution is good because of their support, UI, and connecting to databases is very easy.""Zoho Analytics's most valuable feature is the ability to provide excellent analytics through a single platform.""We can create advanced-level reports with the tool. We can get data from different Zoho applications and also from other third-party applications. We can create schedules for syncing data from third parties to Zoho Analytics. We can also use table queries for getting data from more than one table.""It provides insights into leads, information about the team and about various sales activities. The graphical representations in the form of charts is excellent.""The data source is the most valuable feature as it can perform any function."

Cons
"The interface can be simplified because it is not a user-friendly experience.""Faster implementation of new functions for the new product is an area of improvement in SAP Analytics Hub.""Pricing and support are integrated into the system. However, the support process can be challenging, particularly when navigating the SAP support site, which lacks user-friendliness and ease of access.""The analytics part of SAP has not been that good up until now. They're still in the infant stage and development is still going on. SAP has some cloud analytics and they're trying to configure it in Lumira, but it's not that good at this point.""The technical support for Analytics Hub is limited and could be improved."

More SAP Analytics Hub Cons →

"With performance tuning, it generates a pretty complex query when it is not required.""The price of Tableau is too high.""Its integration with Microsoft products such as Teams should be improved.""An advanced type of visualization is a bit tricky to create. It has something called a Calculated field, and that sometimes gets a bit difficult to use when you want to create an advanced type of visualization.""The use of this service in the desktop version is annoying due to the constant updates which lead to reinstalling the application. If they could give support with updates on the same downloaded version, it would be great.""Creating empty extracts is not easy.""Tableau's data modeling, mining, and AI library features need improvement.""Formatting controls could use some improvement."

More Tableau Cons →

"There should be more types of graphics available for use in the reports.""They should provide white labeling with a cheaper option. I know they have a white labeling feature in which I can white label Zoho Analytics with my company theme, logo, and URL, but it seems a little expensive. If they can make it cheaper, it would be great. The same is applicable to Tableau.""In terms of improvement, they have a limited number of graphs available in their store. They should come up with more graph style forms. They should have more charts and at the same time, you can't create panels like with Microsoft BA.""It would be great to have more user input fields which can be used on dashboards.""The navigation on the interface is not intuitive.""The platform's pricing needs improvement.""I like the solution's Query Table feature which helps me write SQL queries. We can get data from different tables and then use it to create reports.""The customer service and support for this solution could be improved by faster response times."

  • More SAP Analytics Hub Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "For big business, Tableau could be expensive as having a lot of Tableau server users (entering with a browser to reports) could be a bit expensive."
  • "Best advice on pricing is to anticipate the desire for more licenses once the results of this product are acknowledged in other parts of your company."
  • "Paying for users you never setup or buying expensive desktop licenses for users who can solve their users with web editing on the server are the two biggest expenses."
  • "Buy 50 at a time. Project your use base every three months, and project your requirements forward."
  • "Tableau can be costly (but this can be indefinable, such as user experience vs. cheaper etc.)"
  • "I wish there was more of a subscription model with the pricing when it comes to Tableau, so you can get all the latest version upgrades/features if you pay monthly/annually."
  • "The cost is high."
  • "Deployment of dashboards to viewers and unit supervisors can be prohibitively expensive."

  • "I would recommend looking at your usage and whether the Zoho One license model would work for your organisation. It is very cost effective if you use other Zoho tools."
  • "An exact ROI is hard to calculate. However, we have definitely made sales that would have been much harder, or unlikely, as a result of the speed with which we were able to prepare comprehensive analysis."
  • "I don't feel that price is an issue for this product."
  • "It is very reasonable, and it gives me a good return on investment. Compared to other tools, it is the best choice in terms of pricing."
  • "This solution is reasonable as far as pricing is concerned."

After a recent presentation, several attendees asked me about the applications of Visual Insights and Tableau. Many companies are investing in both tools and are trying to figure out the right tool for specific applications Tableau has found its sweet-spot as an agile discovery tool that analysts use to create and share insights. It is also the tool of choice for rapid prototyping of dashboards. Tableau is very flexible with its data import. Tableau's data blending capability is very intuitive. This capability is useful when you have data spread across several different sources that has not gone through ETL processes. This is a problem analysts deal with routinely. They are unable to wait for the data warehouse team to develop ETL processes to provide the physical models they need to build an analysis. The Tableau interface is Excel-like and has a low barrier to entry for analysts that are used to working in Excel. Building a dashboard by mashing up visualizations in a Tableau worksheet is extremely simple. Users are able to build good presentation-quality dashboards in a very short amount time. Tableau's annotations capabilities and its time and geographical intelligence are key differentiators. Tableau has overcome limitations in data sharing with the introduction of a Data Server in Tableau 7.0. The Data server allows Data sources and extracts to be shared securely and opens up interesting new possibilities. If your application can take advantage of the above… Read more →
