Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration Other Advice

Konstantinos Mourikis - PeerSpot reviewer
Senior Presales Engineer at Odyssey Software

I would rate Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration an eight out of ten. It's a good solution, but I rarely give a perfect ten to any product. So, I believe it offers a fair value with some room for improvement. It could be rated nine out of ten.

As Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is a cloud-based solution, there is no need to assist users with hardware-level maintenance. Everything is managed in the cloud, eliminating the necessity for updates or firmware adjustments, among other things. However, like any cybersecurity solution, it is essential to keep the policies up to date. For instance, within our organization, we need to periodically train staff on configuration and maintenance to ensure it remains current. Although it requires some maintenance, it is minimal, and one person is sufficient to handle it.

We work with medium and enterprise customers.

As long as the pricing is acceptable for an organization, I would recommend Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration because it provides a good solution for its offerings.

The product is useful as it works fine to secure our company's email communication. My company has not faced any issues since the time we purchased the solution.

The product has improved our organization's functioning as a secure collaboration tool, considering that different products are made available in the market on a day-to-day basis. As a tool for email security, the solution serves as one of the best products in the market.

The product offers good and easy integration capabilities with other products. When it comes to integration, the product will ask about the credentials of the global applications to the tool's admin, after which it will automatically scan the licenses of the integrated products.

The reports and analytics part of the product is fine for my company since it allows us to check the analytical reports on a weekly basis at a user level. The product provides different kinds of reports like anti-spam reports that we can check in our company.

I recommended the product to those who plan to use it for email security purposes, as it offers a seamless and user-friendly experience to its users. There is no complexity involved in integrations with other products for better email security.

The need for cybersecurity will increase in different ways on a daily basis. The product does not provide alerts. The product fails to provide alerts if some issue occurs at a global level. From an improvement perspective, the product should provide alerts related to email security to its users.

I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

They have two different products. One is CloudGuard SaaS, the other is CloudGuard Connect.

The biggest advice I would give is don't go in with fear. Go in confident, because the product is almost too good to be true and it's simple. It really is as simple as it seems, and you will see value within the first 30 minutes of the product running.

The biggest lesson I have learned from using this solution is that visibility is key, and this product has given me more visibility into the attack vectors that our company is under on a daily basis. It has enabled us to then pivot and look at other security solutions. So I would advise to look at the data, understand the data, and understand who your adversaries are. Because once you understand that, you can then leverage your investment in the Check Point product line to further protect your organization.

The reporting functionality has greatly improved over the time I've used the product, so I've been very pleased with that, and I have provided that feedback to Check Point. I'm very tight with R&D at Check Point, so most of the feature functionality that I've needed has been released into the newer versions of the product.

Because I was part of the EA program, I had a lot of input into how the product was developed. I worked very tightly with R&D, as a customer. The partnership between our two companies, between Grace and Check Point, was a great advantage to both companies. I can't say enough about it. It has just been phenomenal.

Currently, our CloudGuard SaaS is managed by two different groups. It is managed by our information security group, which is what I'm part of and lead and manage, as well as our messaging team, which has insight into the content as well as the email flow. When we deployed this product, we thought that it was going to take a lot of people to maintain it and to manage it. We actually have two individuals who are into the product part-time, and spending very little time per week on it. And one of those individuals is just running reports out of the product to provide them to the senior management. There is a very, very low footprint from a workflow and employee perspective, to manage a very powerful product.

I would rate this product at 10 out of 10 all the way. I have nothing but good things to say about the product.

I would give it a nine out of ten. It's a great product overall. I hesitate to give any company a perfect ten because there's always a chance of unexpected issues arising in the future. But so far, I haven't encountered any problems with Check Point. It would be nice to see them expand their collaboration capabilities to include other suites and integrate with lesser-known products. For example, there are other collaboration tools besides Box and Slack that they could explore.

I would say that since Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration provides a two-week evaluation option, it's very easy to integrate into your environment in a read-only mode so that it doesn't interfere with your email. It just scans and then provides you a report afterward of the threats your solution has missed and what Check Point would have caught.

Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is a fantastic solution.

I rate the overall tool a ten out of ten.

Do your homework. Make sure that you have a good understanding of what tools are part of the solution and make a decision whether you're going to go SaaS or on-prem. My recommendation would be just to go SaaS, as it's a lot easier. You don't have to worry about servers or resources, as it's just on the cloud.

If you use a third-party to help you implement the solution, it's good to use someone you trust and has experience on the product.

Check Point has a lot of tools for analysis. This solution is just as good.

Some of the the nice features that you can do with it, we're not doing them today. For example, maybe two or three years in the future when we will host our VPN gateways on the SaaS cloud, then we will use it for our users to remote into our environment. If they had that when we implemented it the VPN, we would have used that instead of the physical gateways.

I haven't seen any false positives.

I would the solution as a 10 out of 10.

All these types of tools are gradually refining the intelligence engines that minimize the number of false positives. It is a constant and evolving work that Check Point knows very well and keeps very active.

One of the functionalities that are in the process of coming out is the protection of Teams, a tool that in the current telework situation is essential. This will represent a new leap in communications security.

In any case, Check Point is working on its entire new Harmony environment and surely new ones will appear in the coming months.

Make sure you do your homework and compare all the possible vendors to ensure that you get what you really want out of a solution like this.

The biggest lesson I have learned from using CloudGuard is that even legitimate emails can look suspicious. You need to take that little extra step to check them.

Managing Partner with 51-200 employees

It is a major concern for us is to give people enough knowledge to use the product in the proper way. Now it is more about training and management as we have to organize to make sure that everybody is onboard and using the tool in the correct way.

It is always good to compare with different solutions available on the market. This is a Microsoft solution so you are linked with a lot of tools for the integrations, and your integrations with your current landscape are key. An assessment on the different competitors in the market is very relevant for this type of choice.

Most important criteria when selecting a vendor:

  • Quality of applications
  • Ecosystem
  • Price.

The ecosystem of partner is very important. The position in the market, in terms of quality of the application, is key. The cost and price around it are important too.

Often. we need to have a local partner available to make sure that we are not obliged to develop by ourselves a solution. It is key to have people able to help us to deploy something.
