We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft Sentinel provides the capability to integrate different log sources. On top of having several data connectors in place, you can also do integration with a threat intelligence platform to enhance and enrich the data that's available. You can collect as many logs and build all the use cases.""The analytic rule is the most valuable feature.""The AI and ML of Azure Sentinel are valuable. We can use machine learning models at the tenant level and within Office 365 and Microsoft stack. We don't need to depend upon any other connectors. It automatically provisions the native Microsoft products.""Sentinel is a SIEM and SOAR tool, so its automation is the best feature; we can reduce human interaction, freeing up our human resources.""The automation feature is valuable.""We have no complaints about the features or functionality.""I believe one of the main advantages is Microsoft Sentinel's seamless integration with other Microsoft products.""I like the unified security console. You can close incidents using Sentinel in all other Microsoft Security portals, when it comes to incident response."

"The tool's security detection is good. It helps us with login tracking and generating reports. We aim to identify potential issues, such as brute-force attacks on user accounts or server-level anomalies. For instance, if I receive a report indicating a server is at an abnormal level, I investigate and address the issue.""The product is easy to use.""With AlienVault you get everything in one box.""You can customize the dashboards as well as the reporting.""Inbuilt IDS, inbuilt integration with threat intelligence platform and with vulnerability assessment modules.""The threat policies of the solution are always very advanced and the best in the market. They are very persistent in terms of keeping up with security protocols.""The paid version of the solution has reporting and better scalability options.""The most valuable features of AlienVault OSSIM are vulnerability assessment, network intrusion detection system, response to critical events, and awareness of the whole network."

More AlienVault OSSIM Pros →

"The solution's initial setup process is easy.""Timeline based analysis; good platform support""The most valuable feature of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is the easy-to-use user interface.""I have customers that like the EUBA functionality of it. The solution has the ability to build a session, basically. It pulls a lot of information together, for example, everything a user does in a specific timeframe. It's quite helpful.""The advanced analytics has a really great overview of user behavior.""Exabeam Fusion SIEM has a good performance and more advantages than traditional solutions.""It's a very user-friendly product and it's a very comprehensive technology.""The way it can connect with AWS is very useful, and the integrations are pretty good."

Cons
"Microsoft should improve Sentinel, considering that from the legacy systems, it cannot collect logs.""The playbook development environment is not as rich as it should be. There are multiple occasions when we face problems while creating the playbook.""We do have in-built or out-of-the-box metrics that are shown on the dashboard, but it doesn't give the kind of metrics that we need from our environment whereby we need to check the meantime to detect and meantime to resolve an incident. I have to do it manually. I have to pull all the logs or all the alerts that are fed into Sentinel over a certain period. We do this on a monthly basis, so I go into Microsoft Sentinel and pull all the alerts or incidents we closed over a period of thirty days.""If Azure Sentinel had the ability to ingest Azure services from different tenants into another tenant that was hosting Azure Sentinel, and not lose any metadata, that would be a huge benefit to a lot of companies.""We are invoiced according to the amount of data generated within each log.""The dashboards can be improved. Creating dashboards is very easy, but the visualizations are not as good as Microsoft Power BI. People who are using Microsoft Power BI do not like Sentinel's dashboards.""Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized.""Microsoft Sentinel should provide an alternative query language to KQL for users who lack KQL expertise."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"I would like the solution to be able to integrate with my firewall, my IDS and my Honeypot solutions so that it can provide real-time reporting as things occur and then have alert sent to me on my phone when suspicious activity is happening.""It takes some time. It does not give me a prompt response for any such [malicious] traffic. It takes time to get that alert from the AlienVault system.""The initial setup was a bit complex. You've got to do a lot of reading. It's not an intuitive implementation.""It's under heavy traffic. If you have heavy traffic, the system is slow.""The documentation could be improved.""There needs to be more support or some kind of training program so users can self-learn the system more effectively.""The correlation engine needs to be improved.""AlienVault OSSIM on-premise version is more difficult to implement than the cloud version. Additionally, they should add integration between several different environments at once and improve their online knowledge base."

More AlienVault OSSIM Cons →

"I believe if it were more flexible it would be a better product.""Adding to the number of certifications that they have, for example, ISO 27001, would be helpful.""They should provide detailed information about detecting phishing emails.""The initial setup of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is complex because it needs to integrate with the SIEM solution, but after this is complete it is straightforward.""We still have questions surrounding hardware deployment.""The only problem is that the UI is not very impressive.""They need to focus on more of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and coverage. They claim they cover about 70 to 80%. I'm not sure if it's really quite that much, however.""The organzation is rigid and not flexible in the way they operate"

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "AlienVault pricing is the best. Whatever cost you are paying, you are getting a return on every penny... It's not like your IBM, your QRadar, or Splunk, where the cost is too high."
  • "The solution is open source, so it's free to use."
  • "OSSIM is free."
  • "The licensing fees for the non-community edition are paid on an annual basis, and there are no costs in addition to this."
  • "AlienVault OSSIM is free."
  • "We are using the community version, which can be used for free."
  • "We are using a free version of the solution. If you purchase a license there are more features available but the price is a little high. The solution should be cheaper to allow more customers to be able to afford it."
  • "The price of AlienVault OSSIM is too high sometimes for us to present to our customers. The price should be lower. We are on a three-year license to use the solution. We had to pay extra for the support."
  • More AlienVault OSSIM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They have a great model for pricing that can be based either on user count or gigabits per day."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Exabeam Fusion SIEM. The price of the solution should be reduced."
  • "Exabeam Fusion SIEM's pricing is reasonable."
  • "The solution is expensive."
