Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The flexibility of the tool is valuable. It is very robust. It has a very robust configuration capability.""It is pretty stable.""The interface is really friendly. It's simple to understand.""It is a scalable solution...The support answers your questions very fast.""One of the most important features is stopping lateral movement across our network.""The simplicity of the SDP platform is a standout feature; instead of navigating through intricate details, users can seamlessly connect to the company's network or switch to the internet with minimal effort."

"It provides the type of data and availability that we need to have. We don't have to worry about intrusions.""The most valuable feature of the product is vulnerability detection.""The initial setup was straightforward.""Deep Security is a good product for managing a few servers.""Virtual patching is a wonderful feature where we do a recommendation scan and an internal assessment on the server, and it updates the IPS signatures to block any attack. I have seen instances where it has prevented attacks on the end-of-support servers such as 2018 R2, and many years ago, even 2007 servers that were end-of-support. It certainly helped there.""The traceback feature in XDR is amazing. You can trace back an attack. You can playback where an attack actually occurred and see how the attacker moved. We can easily show this to management, and it makes it easy to make them understand and convince them, which is the best thing.""The vulnerability scanning reduces false positives by quite a bit.""It is a stable solution...The solution's initial setup was straightforward."

Cons
"They could provide a single-box solution to manage tools for 4000 users. Additionally, they could add extra features to enhance remote micro connection.""On the cloud, when you make some changes, it may be difficult.""One limitation is that it's harder to provide access to multiple applications in the company with Appgate, but that's probably because of poor management.""The user interface should be improved as it is not very easy to work with the updates.""One thing that kind of sticks out to me is the ability to do a proper non-split tunnel. VPN tunnel-wise, it is not really a true unsplit tunnel, but I think that's just because of the way it's designed. A split VPN basically allows your system to talk to other systems without being forced down the tunnel. A VPN running in a non-split tunnel mode forces all the traffic down the tunnel to wherever you're VPNing to. It forces the traffic down so that the traffic is subject to the firewall and rules that you have in your corporate environment and such. It helps to prevent remote malicious folks that may be talking directly to that box from piggybacking into the corporate environment through it. They do it partially, but it would be nice to see more of an enterprise-level solution there.""It would be better to connect to an application portal from any device. Documentation and support could be better."

More Appgate SDP Cons →

"We have had some issues when it drains some of the resources of the server.""They need to build in a central console because central integration is not very good right now.""The licensing structure could improve.""The situation with the currency in Turkey makes this solution a little bit on the expensive side, and if it were lowered then it would be more competitive.""f it had the capability of generating retroactive alerts it would be helpful.""There should be more tools to trace back. Some sort of module needs to be included to attach all the things. It should be more stable, and the traceback feature should be improved. There were cases when we got virtual analyzer or CMC errors. We got false-positive malware notifications, but we couldn't trace them. I raised a case with Trend Micro two or three times, but they couldn't resolve it. Their support should be improved in terms of technical abilities to troubleshoot complex issues. They should be more knowledgeable.""There is room for improvement with Trend Micro Deep Security, as there are instances where installations may need to be redone. There seem to be glitches when working with older Windows servers, such as those from 2003 or 2005, requiring us to uninstall and reinstall the product to resolve the issue.""As for what could be improved, I think it should come with an XDR facility without any extra cost. They're always releasing new features, but we need to pay extra for them."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is a pretty expensive tool. It is maybe about $20,000 per year for a hundred users or so."
  • "We pay $100 per user per month. One license for the site is around $17."
  • "The pricing is according to the market price. It is not a very cheap solution. They have some very aggressive promotions to sell the product in the market."

  • "On an AWS defined scope, it will cheaper than buying the on-premise service. We did a trial for the on-premise version, but we decided to go with the AWS version. We are downsizing our server room, and it didn't make sense to put more machines in there."
  • "Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace was easy. We decided to purchase this solution on the AWS Marketplace since we were already there."
  • "The pricing is fair."
  • "Our company chose to procure this product via AWS Marketplace due to regulatory requirements. We mostly use it in the AWS GovCloud."
  • "Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace is like shopping on Amazon Prime."
  • "We do pay-as-you-go pricing, which is good for us. We are working with Trend Micro's sales rep to see if we can have something similar for on-premise."
  • "We have saved a 50% ROI for the on-premise product. It gave us significant improvement overall in productivity, costs, and efficiency."
  • "We did not purchase it through the AWS Marketplace because we have used Trend Micro in the past."

This ensures that the virtual desktops and underlying host are not impacted by a security agent.
    • VMware NSX integration: The integration of NSX within the Trend Micro Deep Security platform improves security deployment automation while also enhancing virtual environment protection. Trend Micro Deep Security enhances the advantages of micro-segmentation by adding security policies and capabilities that follow VMs everywhere they go.

    Reviews from Real Users

Trend Micro Deep Security stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its robust data and loss prevention feature and its patch management, which saves users money. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

One PeerSpot reviewer, a Senior Security Advisor at a healthcare company, writes, “DLP, Data Loss Prevention, and the complexity of how we manage the console and how this client, or this tool, will notify us when there is something going wrong within the server and endpoint, is good.”

Nadeem S., CEO at Haniya Technologies, notes of the solution, “Patch management is most valuable. The major selling point of Deep Security is that it is based on the cloud. Deep Security is for the servers and databases of data centers, and generally, for patch management, you have to shut down the machines, and then you have to restart them. So, they need shutdown time, which is a cost.”
