We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The offline networking is the most important feature. Some of our users are engineers that work offsite, and they can still be on the solution, which is also great. The number of false-positives is very, very low compared to other products using AI.The biggest feature out of CarbonBlack is its ability to dive in with more depth. You can look at the entire kill chain and understand, not only if an alarm or identified incident is truly a true security issue versus a false positive, and it allows us to backtrack and figure out why it actually happened and how it got into the environment. The data analysis is the most valuable because of the whitelist database. It is different than standard IDS solutions. It actually does some heuristics, and some behavioral analysis. The most valuable asset is the time-lining capability for any breach activity. This product has the capability of uploading scripts to the tool and this is a very comprehensive feature.Carbon Black Defense has a higher detection ratio because it's cloud-based and it also does a lookup to virus total.

The most valuable feature is the antispam module, which comes in the bundle. The most valuable feature of this solution is the management. This solution blocks the brand new malware threats. In terms of the current global landscape, it is a great solution.Advanced level endpoint firewall, which helps to block unwanted and malicious traffic. What is great about ESET is the ERA Web Console through which we can pull various reports, monitor and administer all clients and servers, and the console is easy to use.A feature we like is setting the GUI of ESET Endpoint Security/ESET File Security to silent mode because some servers and clients can have performance issues. We use ESET, which is pretty much perfect for us. It is also absolutely simple and automatic once setup.

Cons
The endpoint machines need improvement. The implementation of the solution should be improved. It takes too much time.Carbon Black needs to do a better job of proving their platform in the industry, and providing a bit more access to do industry testing with real world examples to help prove their platform. The UI interface needs improvement. The management needs further work in future versions. The tech support communicates, but it's just not with movement.I would personally give the tech support a rating of seven out of ten.Adding an application and a device control feature would be a great help for this solution.Report generation can be improved.

If I were in an environment that required a large-scale deployment then I would choose another solution over ESET.Everything has some kind of room for improvement.I would like them to use AI features to do preventative virus protection.ESET should consider giving it application control. They need to improve licensing for VMs. When ESET is uninstalled from a VM, the seat stays on the license management server. We have to manually delete the seat from that server because it doesn't know how to handle it. I contacted exclusive ESET support here in Croatia and they told me there is no solution for this yet.iOS compatibility for mobile security and parental control.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Carbon Black might be a touch more expensive than Symantec. They tend to get a premium for their capabilities. They're sort of an industry leader in a lot of areas with the functionality that they provide.I am not really involved in the pricing of this product. But, from my understanding, it is OK for us.The cost is a considerable factor, but the benefit factor is the most important. When you compare it with other products, the price is high. Carbon Black will negotiate the price. The cost/benefit factor has great relevance in Cb Defense implementations.

This solution is a good value for the money. At first, we thought it was a bit expensive, but we negotiated a better price. The cost is a very reasonable. When compared with other products, the price is low (though not very low).ESET is perfect, if you can afford it.Pricing per month, for security services as apps in CEE pricing: up to €2 monthly is OK.

I would not recommend either but instead recommend Palo Alto Networks Endpoint Traps, as this single agent does what both the above solutions do plus a lot more including full EDR services.
