We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There's no impact on the endpoint. It runs in the background and it's something that you install and then forget about.""It's very user-friendly. It supports a wide range of workloads. It's quite easy to use, it's very powerful and it's scalable.""It's a software-based solution so we just need a license to expand it.""The solution's stability is excellent.""It provides us a good holistic view of everything that we have backed up so far. It also provides us all the recovery points. If we look at an an object that has been backed up, we can tell how many retention copies it has, how far we can go, and recover any data, if needed.""The solution is very stable and offers a good level of performance.""There are many valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X giving many possibilities to complete jobs.""A very stable and scalable platform (you can backup/restore/protect a couple of MBs or hundred of TBs as well from the same console/platform)."

"Search feature is valuable for our customers.""It is a very stable solution...It is a very scalable solution.""You can retrieve any type of data; for example, if a user accidentally deletes data, as an admin with access to Google Vault, you can easily restore the deleted data.""Google Vault is a solution we can use for the data export of end-users.""The audit part of the tool is the most useful for me.""In my opinion, the search functionality is the best feature. With Google Vault, we can quickly search for any email within Gmail accounts. And then we can get further information, such as if you want the full header or want to know any extra details about the emails.""The most valuable feature of Google Vault is its reliability.""Google Vault acts as a great method for retrieving files from Google Drive and Gmail."

Cons
"This solution can be complex and difficult to administer because it supports all of the many platforms, so it would help if they could simplify it.""The most common feedback I get in terms of Commvault is that it can be complex. I always refer my customers back to their own environment. Almost everything that goes into Commvault is a request by a customer. While it can be complex, it can also be very simple. You just need to understand your environment in order to make sure that you really need to turn on that extra feature or thing inside of Commvault. Maybe you don't need those things. It really depends on how simple or complex your environment is, whether you need all of Commvault's features.""The navigation of it needs improvement in terms of the UX. The product itself, it works as expected. It's all user experience and user interface improvements that could be made and it could be made a little more consumer-friendly.""The product does not provide an option to save a copy of data on-premises.""If I were to ask them to work on something, it would be the fidelity of the alerts that occur. They should tell me if it is a real event or not. It is easy for it to identify that something hit it but give me more information. They can build AI into the engine so that I get better output from an alert to tell me if I should really be interested in that or not.""This product is overly complex to operate and run.""They need to integrate configuration screens or videos (free training courses, webinars, demos) so that engineers with little experience can fully exploit the features that are offered or managed within the license that was acquired, and thus have better quality and completely satisfactory experience.""They need to improve when it comes to large, video file archiving. They're good, but they have not met my expectations as a customer in this area."

More Commvault Cloud Cons →

"One thing I've noticed is that it splits the data files into multiple parts, like the PFT files. For example, when there is a large data size of any account, the backup process splits it into many files. This can be confusing and not very efficient when trying to manage the backups.""Google Vault lacks speed.""My personal opinion is that Google Vault could improve if they could have a similar version to Microsoft 365 where you can have an eDiscovery manager account. With this, you can separate a regular person from an organization and just transfer the specific files.""Google Vault needs to improve its data export timing because sometimes, it takes a very long time to export the data.""So, when doing a search, perhaps in some instances when you use terms, the information is not very precise in the sense that I'm not getting what I'm looking for. And in some instances, the information, not all the time, but in some instances, it might not be accurate. For example, when doing a search, if you use too many terms, it might not return any results.""The knowledge base is not as in-depth as it should be.""It would be nice if Google would let us download the data in different formats.""Searching could be improved. There's a lot of limitations when searching with Google Vault."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."

  • "Google Vault comes as part of a package deal for us."
  • "Last year, the price was randomly increased and our customers were really facing a challenge around this. Google launched new pricing under different plans, where formerly there were only three plans, and now there are four, each with their own separate usage allowances. I think it's good, though. The basic plan is now the Business Starter plan, and many customers find this plan very convenient and minimal in price. Overall, the pricing for all the plans is good."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "The pricing is fairly cheap."
  • "If you have Google Enterprise, then Google Vault is free to use."
  • "Google Vault is a cheaply priced product. Monthly payments are to be made towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. There are no extra costs apart from the licensing costs attached to the solution."
