We performed a comparison between KVM and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Proxmox, VMware, Microsoft and others in Server Virtualization Software."The initial setup was very easy."
"I find the density of the product most valuable. It is density that a technologist can just assign page merging. This is what makes KVM one of the important players of the virtualization market."
"It is an open ecosystem, and we see there is a benefit in open-source solutions."
"The most valuable feature of KVM is its stability."
"The performance is great."
"I like that it's easy to manage. It's also more powerful when it comes to security than others. That point of view is the one consideration. The other consideration is that it's cost-effective."
"One of the best features of KVM is its user-friendly interface."
"The KVM service is well managed with a central policy interface."
"One-click setup is a valuable feature because it allows us to set up a server automatically with a single click."
"We really love the Lifecycle manager and one-click upgrades."
"The management interface of this solution is great."
"Management is simple"
"What's best about Nutanix Acropolis AOS is its simplicity. It's simple to install and simple to understand. The technical support and support portal for this product are both very good and very helpful."
"To receive a performance enhancement by merely clicking the one button upgrade is the true value of the platform and what I look forward to the most."
"Single-click upgrades are the most valuable feature. In the sector in which we work, it is tough to have downtime and arrange firmware upgrades."
"Karbon is a must-have as it drastically simplifies the deployment of Kubernetes."
"I believe KVM offers a unified answer, while ProxMark addresses orchestration. KVM lacks orchestration. If the aim is to centrally oversee multiple KVMs – let's say to freeze them – a centralized management solution is absent."
"Its resource usage can be improved."
"Lacks high availability across clusters as well as support for Apache CloudStack."
"The initial setup of this solution is more difficult than some of the competing products and it could be improved."
"I have encountered difficulties in getting the tool's documentation."
"The stability of this solution is less than other products in the same category."
"KVM is very difficult to manage and run on daily operations."
"The main drawback in the solution is probably disaster recovery."
"While the customer support is truly incredible, for Spanish speakers it would be appropriate to have support in their native language to further improve problem-solving conditions."
"It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals. According to my organization's SLA, if a critical patch is released during that time, then I need to implement the patches within 30 days. If it is a standard patch, then I need to patch it within 60 days. Since that is my SLA, I cannot meet my SLA for security because Nutanix will not release the upgrade within these 30 days. Between the critical patch release and the Nutanix release, my customers say they are vulnerable and I am accepting the risk while the SLA is breached."
"The pricing model for software and hardware subscription renewals can be improved."
"The product needs improvement in the areas of SAN attachment for high capacity and high I/O profile workloads."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS is new technology in a competitive market. Pricing is too high for a new product and requires better discounts to be able to compete with IBM, Dell EMC, and HP."
"Native File-Services are under heavy development and Container Services just came out."
"I would like to see official compatibility with Red Hat in the future."
"The price could be lower."
