Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has the capability to display overall health of the infrastructure and is very useful for executive reports on the health of the infrastructure.""It has greatly reduced the number and duration of outages as support teams are notified immediately when something goes wrong or even before something breaks.""The most valuable feature is that everything can be consolidated into one dashboard.""The broad integration possibilities, I'd say, with any kind of product, are probably the most valuable feature.""We haven't faced any stability issues. There hasn't been any crashes or glitches.""The Performance Manager provides great insight into our systems' performance.""The preloaded rules and ways to monitor your systems are a must.""OpsBridge has good event correlation facilities and root-cause identification algorithms."

"Parallels Desktop integrates seamlessly with macOS. It works better than VMware on Apple operating systems.""I like how, with Parallels, you can either boot into Mac or Windows to get better control over the resources of the laptops since you're sharing the resources in dual mode."

Cons
"We are waiting for quicker release cycles. Also containerized upgrade, so that you don't have to bring a system entirely down to make a minor upgrade, in fact, or a minor patch.""Our issues are largely support related due to where we are and the knowledge base that we have here. This issue relates both HPE in general and to the technical products.""In a future release, we would like an improved upgrade process. When you upgrade it now, it first uninstalls everything and then reinstalls all the packages, which means any customization that you've done in the directories on the surface disappears.""I'm not aware of areas that need improvement.""What needs improvement in Micro Focus Operations Bridge is its resource heaviness because you need many resources to deploy and support it. It's a good solution for larger organizations, but for small businesses, not so much.""The price is quite expensive, and because of this, we may try another solution.""The latest versions of the service reporting dashboards need improvement, such as service modeling.""Remove the dependency of Java technology. This is a feature used for admin purposes to update the modeling."

More OpenText Operations Bridge Cons →

"The biggest challenge is compatibility between VMware and Parallels because the two systems are incompatible. It can be challenging if you are switching between Windows and Mac. I recommend sticking with one product because there isn't good compatibility between the different products.""There may have been some issues with device drivers on my Mac. Similarly, there are some issues with transferring data from Parallels to the Mac."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
  • "It is competitive."
  • "Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
  • "The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
  • "The cost is very high."
  • "As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
  • "The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. Cost-wise, it's much more if you have more devices and features such as infrastructure monitoring, analytic dashboard, and business dashboard in your model."

Parallels Desktop Business Edition brings Windows and Windows applications to employees on Mac and enables integration of Mac computers into any work environment from education to financial services, technology, consulting, or medical. Optimized for Windows 10 and 7, macOS High Sierra, and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It can help employees to run business-critical applications without compromise: Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, Quicken and QuickBooks for Windows, Access, Project, Autodesk Revit and Inventor, CorelDRAW, ArcGIS, Visio, QuickBooks, Internet Explorer and Adobe Photoshop. Parallels Desktop restricts External Device Access that enforces policies on the use of USB devices, smart cards, and any other external devices plugged into a Mac, for use in Windows.
