We performed a comparison between Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) and Vblock [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, Nutanix, VMware and others in HCI."StarWind Virtual SAN for vSphere is a software-defined storage solution that has reduced administration time for storage. It's pretty straightforward to install and setup it and so far it has been robust and worked as advertised from StarWind."
"StarWind vSAN is easy to deploy and administer."
"It has allowed me to effectively and confidently manage the maintenance of hosts where I can power off a host and have its VMs migrate to another one."
"It allows me to configure High Availability and failover clustering with some fault tolerance, at a cost point that doesn’t break the bank for a small business budget."
"The features that I found most valuable are ease of use of the software that StarWind offers - with the first setup being a bit painful."
"In the three years that we have been using StarWind, the product has yet to cause us any problems."
"StarWind has provided us with a top-notch, well-supported, robust vSAN offering when other vendors have moved to hyper-converged solutions that are outside of our average clients' reach from a financial and resource perspective."
"The management interface on the software is very simple. It is insanely simple compared to most SANs. The interface is also powerful when used to complete tasks that an IT administrator needs to complete."
"They have one of the best technical supports in my experience."
"This operating system offers stability. Setup is straightforward."
"Performing a Nutanix software upgrade is a very simple and non-disruptive process."
"It consolidates our servers, and improves our electricity consumption and cooling as well."
"Ability to create multiple VMs."
"It has centralized management. It is easy for an engineer to manage. More work goes to patching, upgrades, and maintenance. Nutanix is very easy to upgrade. It takes one click. Engineers do not need to spend additional time with Nutanix for upgrades. With one click, it will complete the upgrade and show the results. Other hypervisor solutions are not like this, specifically since you must do all the components one by one."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS is easy to use, integrates with other hardware configurations, and is simple to manage."
"It supports multi-cloud integration that includes AWS, Google, and Azure."
"The component integration means I don't have to worry about technology mismatches."
"The most valuable features are reliability and high availability."
"The most valuable feature is that it is centrally managed, as it is quite easy for our customers to manage everything, end-to-end."
"UCS Manager worked well for net/blade management and has allowed fairly easy use of dedicated bare-metal blades."
"Access to VMs is now faster due to the centralized management console."
"Some of the key features are the ease of operation and access, without constraining actions. The tool is available to actually move things around, do things quickly quickly."
"It has improved system performance, batch times for off-hours processing, and reliability with production applications."
"Systems run solidly."
"The documentation could be better."
"It took a bit of knowledge and support to put in place but once installed it works fine. Migration (HyperV) from one server to another sometimes takes longer than expected but there is no data loss even if the host crashes."
"In all areas the product could be made faster."
"It would be great if the Linux version of the management console offered the same features as Windows."
"There needs to be more visibility on how long the cloud replication will take as there is no current ETA."
"There should be some kind of active monitoring connected to StarWind vSAN, so you will be able to act when needed."
"They need to improve the speed of the interfaces, thus allowing for better traffic on the network."
"There is one issue as far as licensing goes and that is a lack of documentation online for users when transitioning from the free version to the paid version, or vice versa."
"Could have better visibility with the main OEM backup integrators."
"The process of migrating from old hardware to new could improve."
"While the customer support is truly incredible, for Spanish speakers it would be appropriate to have support in their native language to further improve problem-solving conditions."
"It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals. According to my organization's SLA, if a critical patch is released during that time, then I need to implement the patches within 30 days. If it is a standard patch, then I need to patch it within 60 days. Since that is my SLA, I cannot meet my SLA for security because Nutanix will not release the upgrade within these 30 days. Between the critical patch release and the Nutanix release, my customers say they are vulnerable and I am accepting the risk while the SLA is breached."
"Storage utilization and optimization should be better."
"We had a few problems with the foundation machine that you can use to build your systems out. We've got it working now, but it should be improved."
"As Nutanix Acropolis AOS is on the expensive side, one of its areas for improvement is the price. It would also be better if it can be integrated with other cloud providers, because currently, it's only for private cloud deployment."
"This solution offers excellent functionality but could use a stronger interface."
"It needs more customer/client involvement in back-end management."
"The integration with other vendors' products needs to be looked at. It's not as flexible as we would like it to be."
"The implementation and support could be better."
"RCM upgrades are painful."
"VCE tools, like Vision or AMP were not stand alone, and depended too much on other management consoles."
"Tighter alignment could simplify and speed up the configuration and delivery process."
"RCM upgrades were not scripted, and you needed to roll on your own. We were led to believe this would be otherwise."
"With respect to the technical support, there is room for improvement."
