Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Integration of InsightOps with other tools, especially SIEM solutions, has generally improved operational efficiency.""We can save logs as plain text.""It has the ability to alert and track logs from different sources.""The ability to browse logs from multiple sources at the same time really speeds up root cause analysis.""The most valuable feature of Rapid7 InsightOps is the search functionality."

"It has virtual visualization, and other products do not.""The ability to rapidly diagnose problems in production and non-production, across hundreds of log files, is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable features are the logs, which allow us to identify what happened and who interacted with the web repository.""We can ingest and correlate data from virtually any type of system.""We used it to create a custom anomaly detection data model to monitor the activity of our back-end services on an hourly basis relative to the past three months of activity.""It can log more logs than other solutions. It's a good way to troubleshoot problems.""Splunk has a wide range of features that customers use to find and analyze all kinds of logs.""Visualizations helped the organisation with a better understanding of its KPIs."

Cons
"There are a few things I would like to do with a few more complex queries which I am not able to do right now, because it is a SaaS solution.""The solution takes a little bit of time when we load the website for the first time.""Since I used the beta, improvements are to be expected. The dashboard options could have been clearer, but I believe it is more a problem with the limited documentation available at the time.""Rapid7 InsightOps could improve by making the search query better. There are times when the search query is broken and it does not find anything.""Improvement is needed in the dashboard of InsightOps, especially for less technical users."

More Rapid7 InsightOps Cons →

"The Enterprise Security app could be improved. We have had trouble with it working from the first day.""Most of my interaction is with the user community, which is how Splunk wants it. When I need help, that community is very hit or miss.""While Splunkbase (the app repository) has a lot of great content, some apps are terribly old and could stand to be updated or purged.""Our two main complaints are about the difficulty of the initial setup and the licensing model.""Previously, they developed custom connectors or add-ons for a lot of applications. But that number can be upgraded still. There are a lot of applications in the world that are not supported.""Splunk is very expensive. The license is based on the volume of the logs ingested. I was responsible for managing the contract with our service integrator. I don't know the precise details of the competing solution, but I have heard that Splunk is more expensive than others. I don't know what the going rate is on the market, but I think there are at least two competitors that are less expensive. We have experienced a few issues with our service providers in terms of log filtering and ingestion, so we continue to pay a bit more per day for our logs.""The Web Application Firewall will send you too much information because it's more dedicated to security than a normal firewall.""Splunk needs local technical support."
