We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Visual Analytics is very easy to use. I use Visual Analytics for all the typical use cases except text mining. I used it to analyze data and monitor statistics, not text mining. I also use it for data visualization as well as creating interactive dashboards and infographics.""It integrates well with SAS, making it simple and quick for developers.""I believe that the possibilities for exploring data and formulating visual results are quite good because it allows the business analyst to have different perspectives on the data.""It's relatively simple to create basic dashboards and reports.""We've found the product to be stable and reliable.""Quick deployment to dashboards and analytics features (using SAS Visual Statistics and Enterprise Guide). Easy to create a simple forecast and discover business insights using segmentation tools.""The technical support services are good.""What I really love about the software is that I have never struggled in implementing it for complex business requirements. It is good for highly sophisticated and specialized statistics in the areas that some people tend to call artificial intelligence. It is used for everything that involves visual presentation and analysis of highly sophisticated statistics for forecasting and other purposes."

"I give the stability of the solution a nine out of ten.""We can set any property dynamically.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...The deployment process of TIBCO Jaspersoft is easy.""The end-user reporting is very handy and the standard reports that can be achieved by using Jaspersoft Studio are quite impressive.""It's easy to use and maintain.""The designer is the most valuable feature.""With the online view, it's easier to create Ad Hoc reports. It has inbuilt reports so we can easily get data from the system and customize the fields.""You can do quite a lot with it in terms of automated reports and dashboards."

Cons
"A bit more flexibility in the temperatization will be helpful.""The licensing ends up being more expensive than other options.""The charts and tables could use better sorting, primarily using other variables than the ones on the figure. If they could implement views like in the older version (previous to Viya), it would be very nice.""In Brazil, there are few documents, courses, and other resources for studying and implementing the tool.""The solution is a little weak at the front end.""It is not as mature as competitors such as Tableau and QlikView.""SAS Visual Analytics could be more user-friendly.""The deployment isn't smooth. Deploying Visual Analytics on the cloud takes a lot of work, or you can use some providers that give you SAS as a service. For example, there is a provider called SaasNow. They host SAS Visual Analytics and the license. You can buy the license and deploy it there without the hassle of installation because deploying the software isn't easy."

More SAS Visual Analytics Cons →

"We'd like to see the community version offer a little bit more support and better documentation and we'd like the enterprise edition to have better pricing.""The upgrades are not easy.""Customization is an area with certain shortcomings in the solution that needs improvement.""The Ad Hoc Report Writer does not include as many features as Tableau and needs to be improved to meet expectations.""I would like to see some analysis done prior to data extraction. The data extraction itself could also be improved.""There might be some compatibility issues with the dashboard if we're using the latest version and some clients are using the older version. Some features might not be supported.""A better focus should be put on self-service reporting.""TIBCO Jaspersoft would benefit from enabling you to run multiple reports in one file and incorporating more options related to multiple reports."

Any company (be it technology, manfucaturing, human resource, ecommerce, SME etc) always has the need for Business Intelligence to some or the other extent. If cost is one of the consideration factor, then the 2 BI tools which are at the forefront are Pentaho and Jaspersoft. But, often the same companies are caught up in an imbrogilo as to which tool to use, what are the technology/and end business user wise differences/ do i actually need to purchase commercial edition, is there any work around etc. Differences :- In the below mentioned points, I have tried to cover functionality wise the differences a. Reports :- Jaspersoft is known for its picture pixel perfect reporting. Jasper uses ireport for designing the reports. Hence, for having reports, Jaspersoft is the most ideal candidate. Pentaho uses Pentaho Report Designer. b. Dashboards :- Pentaho provides much more capabililties, interactivity in terms of dashboards. Dashboards designed in Pentaho are far more superior in functionality, aesthetically as compared to Jaspersoft. Pentaho CE uses CDE/CDF, Pentaho EE uses PDD . Dashboard functionality is present only in the Enterprise edition of Jaspersoft. c. Pentaho is having an intermediate layer known as Xactions & hence providing much more flexibility in terms of plugin designing, integration with applications, having out of box experience etc. Xactions supports scripting and scheduling of scripts execution. Jaspersoft dosent provide that much of flexibility in terms of… Read more →
