On MikroTik, possibly on some of the recent models, there have been a lot of issues with the latest router software. There have been some bugs. Maybe a centralized control system could come in useful.

It happens that you may find your network is down, if you reboot the switch, they come up. However, sometimes, they reset themselves. That's a big issue. You may find that it's corrupted - the configurations and everything - the switch is corrupted. If you don't have a backup configuration, you have to start up fresh. They have that issue. In terms of router 1036, I've changed more than two times. I'm not sure of if it is a manufacturing issue or something.

In medium to large sectors, there's a necessity for managing aspects like proxy firewalls. Additionally, the introduction of an Enterprise Management System is crucial. This system should encompass features such as antivirus protection and intelligence, which are essential components integrated into this platform.

Improvements are needed with respect to some of the security, especially for VPN links between vendors other than Cisco. For example, what works between MikroTik and Cisco does not work as well between MikroTik and Fortinet. I have seen some bugs.

The certification process should be improved.

Have localized or regional pricing would be an improvement.

I would like to see GPS tools embedded into the devices.

The bulk efficiencies and the control of traffic could be a bit better. There are many servers on the firewall we have to be aware of.

We’d like the cloud router to have an MPLS and to make sure all the latest protocols are available on the newest routers. They need to have more facility for cloud servers and local environments.

There are hardware limitations that you just don’t have to deal with if you go with a solution like Cisco.

The port isolation and VLAN need to be improved. The switch configuration needs to be simplified. There are lots of tutorials available, and we're still doing it in a very simple way. There needs to be documentation.

Something that could be added is a stacking feature in MikroTik.

I've not really tested it on an enterprise environment. Here you have a large number of users access sending the internet through it. With Cisco, they've tried on that aspect building a strong device that can contain a large number of users in an enterprise environment. I would suggest that MikroTik Router should build their devices to meet enterprise standards.

Technical support could be better.

I'd like their devices to communicate with one another. For instance, if I have a MikroTik Cloud Router in location A and I also have it in the location B and also in location C, I want the situation where these three routers are able to communicate together-

The solution can be improved by getting the OS to work with Hyper-thread so that it uses all the CPUs and one application doesn't sit on one CPU but is managed by multiple CPUs.

The security will always be a priority for our network infrastructure. Right now, we're not using VLAN and we want to use VLAN, so it's more of a physical LAN network and we want to move towards VLAN and have a layer three VLAN network systems and use proper switches to give us the security that we need. And also, obviously, we want to open our network in a more centralized way. We hope the solution will be able to help with this in the future.

The solution does not yet offer a SaaS version.

Technical support could be better.

The packet filtering, user log data, and user access log could all be improved.

The access log is not readable. It's supposed to be readable by using third party softwares and applications using a weblog, but I would prefer that MikroTik  improve their own log management software.

Stuff that I'd like to be improved is really just training and documentation because I think the feature set is full. Another improvement I'd suggest is that their new, bigger releases should be a bit more stable.

As far as additional features, this solution is quite fully featured already, so for our use cases, we're completely fine.

There has to be more development in the OS. It's complex for this switch as compared to others like Cisco. For NetGear and Cisco, it's easy to adapt the VLAN concept but it should be simplified for MikroTik.

I would like to see more integration abilities with NetGear.
