Flexible, scalable, and offers a small footprint
Pros and Cons
  • "Technical support is excellent."
  • "The initial setup can be a bit complicated for those unfamiliar with the product."

What is our primary use case?

We've only got two or three machines. The solution is simply used as an antivirus, however,  we've rolled it out to all of our customers and we use it as a managed service.

What is most valuable?

The solution has reduced false positives for our clients and ourselves.

It's got quite good ransomware detection.

The product can be deployed across mobile devices.

It has a managed service push deployment where we can push cloud tasks into policies.

It's a really good product. It's stable and scalable. It offers good flexibility, has a small footprint, offers a minimal effect on performance, and is from a trusted brand.

We have found the deployment to be very fast.

Technical support is excellent.

What needs improvement?

We're still looking for weaknesses. The product is still quite new for us. That said, so far, every time I have thought, "I wonder if it can do this or it can do that." I've been able to do it.

McAfee has also asked us for feedback, and we noticed when we gave them suggestions, they worked to implement them. For example, we asked for the ability to leverage Windows Defender instead of creating an endpoint. They've just put that in so you can choose now what you want to do. You can change that deployment and push it out without any intervention by the client as well.

The initial setup can be a bit complicated for those unfamiliar with the product.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for about four or five months at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The companies we work with range in size from small to large.

The solution is very easy to scale.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate technical support at a ten out of ten. They have been great. We have found them to be helpful and responsive. My personal interaction with them was absolutely brilliant.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup can be difficult the first time. You have the flexibility to give all sorts of setup options. You need to know, for example, do you want this, do you want that, do you want these exclusions? Do you want these exploit preventions? et cetera. There are a lot of components. It's going to be complicated initially, however, once you've done that and set it up for a customer, then it's very simple just to deploy it and roll it out.

We rolled out another customer on Friday, and that's 35 sites we've done so far - and I was able to do the whole lot remotely. It's quick to deploy. For clients, in terms of the deployment, I just simply send them a link to their emails and they just go click on it and it goes.

Once the product is deployed, there isn't any maintenance necessary. It's all controlled from a SaaS portal.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is okay. It's in the middle and there are actually surveys out and they all say that as well.

There's a couple of license options. You can choose a single license or you can choose what we call a MV2 license. Every single license gives you the ability to install a product on five other devices - including mobile. You get a Windows license and that enables you to install it on a tablet, iPhone, or Android device (up to five) as well.

What other advice do I have?

We're a McAfee partner.

We are using the SaaS version. It's my understanding that we are on the latest version of the solution.

We would recommend the solution to other companies. We actually sell it and provide it to all our clients.

I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten.

Our main antivirus tool and offers adaptive threat prevention tool
Pros and Cons
  • "The activation of features within ENS and the collection of threats into a single console is a strong point."
  • "The technical support needs some improvement. When product distribution errors occur, we have to contact technical support, which is a very tedious task."

What is our primary use case?

We use Trellix in an OT environment where it is being used as an orchestrator to deploy endpoint security and application controls in our network. We are using its DLP product in OT end points.

How has it helped my organization?

We use ENS as our main antivirus tool. The activation of features within ENS and the collection of threats into a single console is a strong point. There are some features we're not using, mainly related to IT environments. For us, ENS is primarily an antivirus and adaptive threat prevention tool. The threats received from endpoints received in ePO consoles which can be relayed on SMTP server to get real time updates on threats.

What is most valuable?

The deployment of products through ePO is very useful in managing multiple endpoints and deploying policies as per organizational requirements . Working manually on those endpoints is time-consuming and tedious. Threats and case management, Automation tasks, generating reports, those are some good points to be considered.

What needs improvement?

The technical support needs some improvement. When product distribution errors occur, we have to contact technical support, which is a very tedious and time consuming task. After raising the call onto the technical support portal, usually receive a notification after 24 hours. It usually takes 3 to 4 days to conclude and resolve the issue. If 24/7 online support or a phone line where we could speak directly with technical support for real-time troubleshooting, that would be very helpful.

Licensing is another aspect where trellix should look into. Different purchases are grouped together in single user account get mixed up. Categorization of purchases and their grant numbers is not available to end user.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable. If configured correctly, it's very smooth and doesn't cause frequent issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have like 500 installations. It is very scalable.

I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

There is room for improvement in the customer service and support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had McAfee virus scan approved for OT endpoints but were using manual deployment methods. After introducing ePO architecture we have migrated to ENS, application control and DLP. Now, we've adopted more Trellix products.

We use symentec and txOne as well, but for standalone systems only.

How was the initial setup?

I would rate my experience with the initial setup a nine out of ten, with ten being easy and one being difficult.

The deployment takes moderate amount of time. Some of the products were installed quickly, but others remain in configuration. So, it's not too fast, but it's moderately quick.

So, it takes two to three hours.

What about the implementation team?

In house expertise is available for installation, deployment and management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is reasonable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

NA

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Trellix because I am satisfied with its overall performance and functionality.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Provides efficient integration features, but it could be flexible to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The platform’s most valuable features are ease of use, integration, and deployment."
  • "The product could be flexible and offer better pricing."

What is our primary use case?

We use the product to provide system security for shared data on the network.

What is most valuable?

The platform’s most valuable features are ease of use, integration, and deployment.

What needs improvement?

The product could be flexible and offer better pricing. They should make it free, open-source software.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using McAfee Endpoint Security for ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The platform is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The platform is scalable. A minimum of five licenses are required for ten executives.

How are customer service and support?

Our IT team requires deployment assistance from the product’s technical support team.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process is easy if you have the required technical skills. It takes 30 minutes to complete. A team of around 20 technicians is involved in the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We implement the product with the help of our technical staff.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for the product’s license. They should reduce the cost or make it free, open-source software.

A cloud solution for security purposes but performs slowly during usage

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for security purposes.

What is most valuable?

The solution is valuable for security aspects.

What needs improvement?

The solution should respond faster. Whenever Trelix runs, the system slows down.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Trellix for two years. We are using the latest version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product’s stability is good.

I rate the solution’s stability a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. Around 3,000 users are using this solution.

I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good. They respond faster.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple.

What other advice do I have?

Ten people are required for maintenance.

You should monitor how efficiently the solution functions, how it will impact your system, and how many files will be processed. The more files your system has, the more security time is needed to scan them daily. Due to this, your system may become slower. Trelix ensures the system does not slow down even when Trelix runs in the background.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Delivery Manager at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees
Consultant
Great containment feature and very user-friendly GUI
Pros and Cons
  • "A great console with a user-friendly GUI."
  • "Search feature could be made more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

The solution enables me to monitor all my endpoints and ensure that our agents are reporting to the FireEye management server. That is key for allowing us to see any suspicious traffic coming in. I'm the delivery manager and we are customers of FireEye.

What is most valuable?

I like the console and the GUI is user-friendly. One of the most important and critical features is containment. Suppose something gets infected and there's the possibility of it spreading laterally and causing a problem or compromising a network. FireEye has a feature that enables it to disconnect from a system network so that the infection doesn't spread.

Even if an incident occurs at night when support teams are not available, the feature can contain the infection so that when the support teams get to work, they can carry out the remediation part and bring the system back to production.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see the searches enhanced because when I hand over the product to someone without experience, it should be user-friendly to them as well. If the feature was enhanced, and the amount of data that comes in reduced, it would simplify the process for anyone.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I haven't had any issues with scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The support is pretty good, we haven't had any problems.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

We had a separate team implementing FireEye and there didn't seem to be any issues so I think deployment was relatively straightforward.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I prefer FireEye to solutions like CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, and Trend Micro which are not as user-friendly. FireEye is also easier to integrate with the SIEM, so all the logs get pushed and there are no issues getting the device integrated with SIEM.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution nine out of 10.

We can deploy all our configurations through the cloud
Pros and Cons
  • "We have a cloud-based instance, so we can deploy all our configurations through the cloud. That's the beauty of FireEye."
  • "Upgrading to new versions isn't easy and it can take a long time. Also, other solutions' tamper protection features are better than FireEye's. Clients should have access to our local information, but they shouldn't change settings on the system itself."

What is our primary use case?

FireEye replaces our traditional antivirus solutions like Symantec and McAfee and covers multiple business use cases, including EDR.

What is most valuable?

We have a cloud-based instance, so we can deploy all our configurations through the cloud. That's the beauty of FireEye.

What needs improvement?

Upgrading to new versions isn't easy and it can take a long time. Also, other solutions' tamper protection features are better than FireEye's. Clients should have access to our local information, but they shouldn't change settings on the system itself.

For how long have I used the solution?

I I have used FireEye for 10 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Endpoint Security seven out of 10. There is room for improvement and development.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

FireEye is a cloud-based application, so it's easy to extend by purchasing more licenses.

How are customer service and support?

FireEye responds promptly, and their support has been excellent so far.

How was the initial setup?

Deploying Endpoint Security is hassle-free. We uninstalled our legacy antivirus system and deployed FireEye. We created a package and deployed it across the servers manually.

What other advice do I have?

I rate FireEye Endpoint Security eight out of 10. Explore the solution and see what benefits it can offer your organization. I recommend FireEye depending on the customer's needs and use cases.
