Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has simplified the process completely, and even though it has many features which are available in the market now, but it is on par with the other ERPs that are available in the market now.""The solution can scale.""The solution is very easy to set up.""We find the ease of use, customization, and user interface valuable.""It’s a stable product.""I think it is strong in sales, inventory, and pricing.""The most valuable features of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne are the flexibility of the configuration, it is highly configurable. It is not rigid as other solutions, such as SAP. They have recently added a custom workflow approach and approval workflows.""With the new versions, it has become very user-friendly. We have integration with mobiles, and we have cloud-based solutions. There are a lot of things that can be done by front-end users without technical knowledge. They can create reports without having to do any coding, and it's very good now."

"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"

More Penta Pros →

"I have found the most valuable feature to be the SAP Fiori application.""The in-memory processing capability is most valuable.""The key modules that I find most valuable are material management (MM), financial accounting and controlling (FICO), and human resources (HR).""It seamlessly integrates with all the SAP Business Suite products such as IoT, AI, Analytics and all other SaaS solutions. The product is very robust and comprehensive.""The most valuable feature is that HANA loads from memory, which means it loads very quickly.""SAP S4HANA has good performance and has allowed us to combine our systems.""The scalability is excellent, especially on cloud deployment models.""The solution makes its use and the management of our infrastructure easy."

Cons
"What would make JD Edwards EnterpriseOne better is more straightforward project implementation, including reducing the costs associated with upgrading projects.""If they can research and make the installation part easier or more user-friendly, it would be nice.""We’d like to see technical support integrated within the application so that it is not required to raise additional incidents or do manual outreach to support.""We originally used EnterpriseOne for preventative maintenance, but it is not very good at that so we migrated to Maximo for that task.""JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is more of a legacy solution because most of the competitors are or have moved to the cloud. It would be beneficial if there was a cloud version available. Additionally, the interface could improve.""The Fixed Asset module is not desirable because it is complicated.""The licensing is expensive compared to other solutions on the market.""Originally, there were some complications with implementation."

More JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Cons →

"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."

More Penta Cons →

"The customer service and support are average. There is room for improvement in response time.""MRP repost area should be improved. The production information report also needs to be improved.""The solution could be more user-friendly for regular users and developers.""So, there is room for improvement in pricing. HANA is not a simple product; it's quite complex by design.""It requires a lot of planning to implement the product correctly.""The procure-to-pay solution in the Contract Management angle could be better. If you look at it on Ariba, the Contract Management Life Cycle for Ariba is more robust. You can create documentation, SLAs, and NDAs. Apart from the procurement aspect of the contract, you have the legal side, but Ariba cannot do that. From what I've seen, the features of the procure-to-pay model in S/4HANA and their Contract Life Cycle Management side primarily focus on the procurement side. I believe it would be good if this solution could handle a part of the legal side. They will incorporate Extended Warehouse Management and Transportation Management into the S/4HANA cloud. Most big companies that use a solution like S/4HANA have a legal department within the organization. Suppose they can incorporate that to be in S/4HANA suites; I think it'll be good. It will be just like what we have with Transportation Management and Extended Warehouse Management. The user interface could be better. They have too much information on the interface, and our customers still keep complaining that it looks complex. Even though many things have changed, they still complain that the interface or the screen they see is a bit complex. It's only when they see the Fiori interface that their mind becomes a bit calm.""I have found the solution to be stable but it could improve.""We found that the implementing partners themselves are struggling with S4HANA's features. It's not an exact translation of the older ECC, so SAP has taken a new route to do things with S4HANA. Maybe it's a good product, but the implementing partners also like to have an in-depth understanding of the full feature set the product offers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is an "arm-and-a-leg". This keeps the customers away from going for J.D. Edwards."
  • "The licensing is for mid-market businesses, where it is cheaper than Oracle Cloud, EBS, or SAP."
  • "The price of the solution is not cheap. However, it is priced average amongst competitors."
  • "There is an annual license for this solution."
  • "It depends on the number of users and the modules that you want to buy. It is licensed on a perpetual license basis. You buy the license costs upfront, and then there is maintenance for support that you pay every year, which is typically about 20%."
  • "The solution is really expensive."
  • "The licensing costs are on a yearly basis, and there are no additional costs."
  • "In terms of price, it is not on the high end."

  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "We're not sure yet. I think it was six figures a year, over 100,000. It has straight-up licensing fees."
  • "Licensing works on a subscription model for the cloud version and it's a one-time fee for the on-premises version."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable but some modules can be expensive. When comparing SAP S4HANA to other solutions, such as Oracle, it is not expensive."

According to PeerSpot user Raymond R., JD Edwards functional consultant manufacturer at Ordina, “The strongest functionality of JD Edwards is the ability to model, in the production that it is, model the production process. If I were to model the bill of materials and production routing, then that's one of the strongest parts of JD Edwards.”

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by SAP S4HANA users.

A Mechanical Engineer at a construction company says, “It is a very powerful, highly customizable tool. The most valuable feature is that the reporting is fast. We can see the results from that in that our commissions come in fast. That is the main advantage.”

Another reviewer, a SAP Technology Manager at a financial services firm, mentions, "It is more or less a very, very smooth and seamless product. Day by day they are increasing their technology features and they are keen to resolve the issues. India has a complex business scenario and SAP is thinking about that and resolving the issues day by day. In terms of the features I have found most valuable, I don't think that there is any lack or any gap process-wise. SAP is a very good tool."

A Project and Service delivery Manager at a tech services company comments, "One of the most valuable features, which we used the most, was the FI module, for finance. It involved controlling, account receivables, account payables, and complete financial steering."

A Senior Architect at a construction company states, “The POD applications are very useful to us. There are a few POD apps which we are using for different business scenarios. They are quite interesting.” He also adds, “The initial setup is pretty straightforward. The documentation is very good. The solution can scale well. The solution is stable.”
