Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We run a containerized microservices environment. Being able to set up streams and search for errors and anomalies across hundreds of containers is why a log aggregation platform like Graylog is valuable to us.""The ability to write custom alerts is key to information security and compliance.""I am very proud of how very stable the solution is.""Allowing us to set up alerts and integrate with platforms we already use, such as Slack and OpsGenie to alert users of these errors proactively, is also a very useful feature.""Message forwarding through the in-built module.""Open source and user friendly.""We have scaled from a single machine installation (a VM with a Graylog + ES + MongoDB) to (2 Graylog + 2 ES + 3 MongoDB). This was done smoothly with a minimal impact on logging.""UDP is a fast and lightweight protocol, perfect for sending large volumes of logs with minimal overhead."

"In terms of security, LogRhythm NextGen SIEM is great.""The security operation center is excellent.""I would rate the product a ten out of ten. The solution is very user-friendly and straightforward. The tool's report customization is interesting.""Our clients enjoy having one dashboard to monitor their environments in real time.""As a healthcare company, what we use it for is compliance, then to protect our data from exaltation.""As a SIEM, probably the best feature is that it can be tuned effectively. There are very few SIEMs out there that can be effectively tuned to provide you with meaningful information and not be overwhelmed.""LogRhythm NextGen SIEM covers all our primary security analysis needs. It makes it easier for us to analyze threats and improves our response times. It's a versatile platform that performs queries fast compared to other SIEM solutions.""The product is great for medium to large-scale organizations."

"The most valuable feature of Snare is flexibility or the ability to filter all things you don't want and don't have security value.""The best thing about Snare is its format and consistency.""Snare has good agents, especially for Windows."

More Snare Pros →

Cons
"More customization is always useful.""Graylog needs to improve their authentication. Also, the fact that Graylog displays logs from the top down is just ridiculous.""Its scalability gets complicated when we have to update or edit multiple nodes.""Graylog could improve the process of creating rules. We have to create them manually by doing parses and applying them. Other SIEM solutions have basic rules and you can create and get more events of interest.""There should be some user groups and an auto sign-in feature.""I would like to see a date and time in the Graylog Grok patterns so that I can save time when searching for a log. I like how the streams and the search query work, but adding a date and time will allow me to pull out a log in a milli-second.""Dashboards, stream alerts and parsing could be improved.""More complex visualizations and the ability to execute custom Elasticsearch queries would be great."

More Graylog Cons →

"We do about 750 million a day and some days we do 715 million. Some days we do 820 million or 1.2 billion. But there's no way to drill in and find out: "Where did I get 400,000 extra logs today?" What was going on in my environment that I was able to absorb that peak? I have no way to identify it without running reports, which will produce a long-running PDF that I have to somehow compare to another long-running PDF... I would like to see like profiling behavior awareness around systems like they've been gunned to do around users with UEBA.""We have run into problems with stability going through upgrade processes. Recently, we have been on the front edge of the upgrade path. When that happens we tend to run into issues either with certain functionality not working after the upgrades or stability issues because of the upgrades.""I would really love to be able to take some of the data and not have to export it to a CSV file, so I can pull it into Excel to turn it into some other kind of graph.""My biggest complaint is documentation. Everyone tells me, "We have documentation on the Community site." I have searched for different types of documentation on numerous occasions, and it might be there, but it's not easily findable.""Stability has probably been one area where Health Checks have not been great with the product. We have been told that they are going to improve Health Checks on product, though we do struggle with them on a daily basis.""The responses provided by the cloud team are inefficient.""The log storage capacity should be increased.""I would like it to do a lot of the automation (which I still need to learn more about), because I am essentially a one man shop doing all the jobs. I'd like for it to be able to do more for me."

More LogRhythm SIEM Cons →

"Users will initially find it difficult to identify the event types and installation in Snare.""Snare should modernize its GUI a little bit.""The solution is now developing a SIEM-like feature on Snare Central Server, but it's not complete yet."

LogRhythm SIEM Platform is an award-winning platform in security analytics. With more than 4,000 customers globally, LogRhythm SIEM is an integrated platform that helps security operations teams protect critical infrastructure and information from emerging cyberthreats. Ultimately, LogRhythm SIEM is an integrated set of modules that contribute to the security team’s fundamental mission: rapid threat monitoring, threat detection, threat investigation, and threat neutralization. LogRhythm SIEM is for organizations that require an on-premises solution and offers:

    ● Streamlined workflow

    ● Secure data access

    ● Real-time visibility

    ● A unified user experience

    ● Management customization

Security information and event management (SIEM) solutions have been evolving for over a decade; their core functionality still acts as the most effective foundation for any organization’s technology stack. A SIEM solution enables an organization to centrally collect data across its entire network environment to gain real-time visibility into activity that may pose a risk to the organization. SIEM technology addresses threats before they become significant financial risks while simultaneously helping better manage an organization’s assets.

LogRhythm SIEM has many key features and capabilities, including:

High-Performance Log Management: LogRhythm SIEM offers structured and unstructured search capabilities which allows users to swiftly search across an organization’s vast data to easily find answers, identify IT and security issues, and troubleshoot issues. Users can efficiently process and index terabytes of log data daily.

Network and Endpoint Monitoring: Forensic sensors allow users to gain deep visibility into endpoint and network activity. Users can see behavioral anomalies and better respond to incidents.

SmartResponse™ Automation: LogRhythm SIEM allows users to centrally execute pre-staged actions that automate incident investigatory tasks and responses.

Automated Machine Analytics: LogRhythm SIEM's AI Engine continuously analyzes all collected security incidents and forensic data. Security teams are delivered precise, real-time intelligence about risk-prioritized threats.

Case and Security Incident Management: LogRhythm SIEM offers an integrated workflow so that threats don’t slip through the cracks. Collaboration tools help centrally manage and track investigations.

User and entity behavior analytics (UEBA): Embedded deterministic UEBA monitoring helps protect against insider threats.

Security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR): LogRhythm SIEM includes our embedded SOAR solution to increase efficiency and higher-quality incident response with low mean time to response (MTTR).

    Benefits to Using LogRhythm SIEM

The platform offers great value to security and IT operations. Users have the ability to map their security and IT operations to existing frameworks such as NIST and MITRE ATT&CK.

    ● The platform offers broad integration across security and IT vendors: Users benefit from support for integration with hundreds of security and IT solutions. In turn, this further extends SIEM capabilities and data collection.

    ● The platform provides compliance adherence, enforcement, and reporting: The prebuilt compliance modules automatically detect violations as they occur and remove the burden of manually reviewing audit logs.

    Reviews from Real Users

LogRhythm SIEM stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to be customized and its quick performance of queries.

Jason G., a senior cybersecurity engineer, writes, "I have found the Advanced Intelligence Engine has provided the most value to us because we can customize alarms based on our requirements and have created hundreds of alarms that notify different people for different scenarios."

Andy W., principal consultant at ITSEC Asia, notes, “LogRhythm SIEM covers all our primary security analysis needs. It makes it easier for us to analyze threats and improves our response times. It's a versatile platform that performs queries fast compared to other SIEM solutions.”

Snare customers consistently tell us that as the financial and reputational consequences of data breaches, cyber threats like malware and ransomware and the constant risks from insider threats increase that they have urgent and ongoing requirements for maintaining regulatory compliance, auditing and managing cyber threat detection and response. They also tell us that existing solutions like SIEM are often complex to implement and maintain, require specialised technical resources or are increasingly unaffordable or variable in their pricing. As a result of these increased requirements Prophecy International has created the Snare product suite.

Compliance requirements can include any number of regulatory mandates including PCI-DSS, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, NERC, GDPR and more. This makes Snare a high value solution for companies in the Government, Defence and Military sectors, Banking, Finance and Insurance, Retail, Health, Energy, Oil & Gas markets.

Snare is a complete suite of Centralised Log Management (CLM), Security Analytics and SIEM tools.

Created by ex military personnel for military use it offers the highest level of security.

Designed to work as part of your security ecosystem Snare also integrates with most other SIEMs including SPLUNK, QRadar, ARCSight and many more. With over 3,000 customers worldwide using Snare for compliance, auditing and threat response, Snare is the name you can trust.

From Enterprise Agents for Windows, Unix, Linux, OSX, Flat files and Databases to a complete forensics and long term log storage platform, agent management console, multipoint log reflector, advanced log analytics and next gen SIEM capability. Either hosted or on prem with both Opex and Capex pricing models, Snare is a one stop shop for CLM and SIEM. Snare product suite is broadly split into two areas:

    • Centralised Log Management and Snare Analytics

Centralised Log Management incorporates and 4 core technologies

    • Snare Enterprise Agents
    • Snare Reflector
    • Snare Agent Management Console
    • Snare Central Service

Snare Analytics incorporates another 4 core technologies

    • Enhanced Snare Central Server incorporating Analytics
    • Data Ingestion Technologies (via our Adaptors)
    • Dashboards and Visualisations including custom KPI engine
    • Runbook – enabling SOAR

These products can be bought independently or combined into a compete solution. You can also “mix and match” with your current security technologies ensuring that you can leverage your existing investments.
