Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The data protection functionality is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The most valuable feature of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is the speed and the compression of the backups. The compressed backed-up files do not take up as much storage. Additionally, the incremental backups can be done in one minute and be backed up on a disc very fast.""Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained.""Our customers are happy with the product’s functionality.""The solution has no limitations because it does backup for Linux and Windows.""The product's deployment process was straightforward.""One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature.""The recovery part of the product is very good."

"We find the ease of use valuable.""We use this solution as an integrated backup solution and it is integrated from the backup provider to the Nutanix solution.""I like the autofill-over feature and the simplicity of the solution.""Nutanix can converge legacy-style rack mount servers, so it is highly scalable.""Nutanix has its own backup system known as HYCU, as well as its own virtual server.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...I rate the technical support a nine out of ten."

Cons
"They could work on their marketing approach. I don't see many people leveraging it.""The solution's reporting could be improved and should provide customized reports.""The support could be more knowledgeable and faster.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""We are looking at scaling up to the cloud and using immutable copies on the cloud. Arcserve UDP 8.0 does have the immutable feature supporting AWS, but I'm looking for multi-cloud support. So, I'm waiting for Arcserve to release that in the next release.""One of the biggest drawbacks of Arcserve UDP is that it does not have a single console, making it an area that needs to be considered for improvement.""I don't know whether the tool has VMware integrations. It would be good to cover this area if it doesn't have those.""StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast."

More Arcserve UDP Cons →

"This solution could be improved with regards to the hosts that integrate with the platform itself. Each of the hosts integrated with the storage and networking only provide one instance of a backup.""The solution's setup process should be simplified.""It could be cheaper.""The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.""I would like to see the multi-cloud improve.""Nutanix is not secure enough, and it needs to be more resilient."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I do not work with the pricing or licensing issues of the solution for our organization."
  • "We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
  • "Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options."
  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."
