Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The two most valuable features of Azure Data Factory are that it's very scalable and that it's also highly reliable.""The best part of this product is the extraction, transformation, and load.""I like how you can create your own pipeline in your space and reuse those creations. You can collaborate with other people who want to use your code.""Data Factory's best features are connectivity with different tools and focusing data ingestion using pipeline copy data.""An excellent tool for pipeline orchestration.""I like the basic features like the data-based pipelines.""It is beneficial that the solution is written with Spark as the back end.""The function of the solution is great."

"The flexibility to use already-developed components is really good. You can use it for Excel-related operations and other things.""The most valuable feature of Kofax RPA is the simplicity of automating tasks.""The product saves time and resources.""The most valuable features are workflow and process automation.""The OCR was quite stable and flexible.""The drag and drop functionality is quite good.""The product provided all the security controls that we asked them.""The ability to script information from websites is most valuable. It also seems to be fairly robust and reasonably easy to manage on a server-based deployment. We have a number of robots operating on the central server."

Cons
"There's no Oracle connector if you want to do transformation using data flow activity, so Azure Data Factory needs more connectors for data flow transformation.""The initial setup is not very straightforward.""For some of the data, there were some issues with data mapping. Some of the error messages were a little bit foggy. There could be more of a quick start guide or some inline examples. The documentation could be better.""Areas for improvement in Azure Data Factory include connectivity and integration. When you use integration runtime, whenever there's a failure, the backup process in Azure Data Factory takes time, so this is another area for improvement.""It would be better if it had machine learning capabilities.""If the user interface was more user friendly and there was better error feedback, it would be helpful.""DataStage is easier to learn than Data Factory because it's more visual. Data Factory has some drag-and-drop options, but it's not as intuitive as DataStage. It would be better if they added more drag-and-drop features. You can start using DataStage without knowing the code. You don't need to learn how the code works before using the solution.""I rate Azure Data Factory six out of 10 for stability. ADF is stable now, but we had problems recently with indexing on an SQL database. It's slow when dealing with a huge volume of data. It depends on whether the database is configured as general purpose or hyperscale."

More Azure Data Factory Cons →

"Exception handling needs to be improved.""There is really nothing special about the capabilities of this product.""The product should improve desktop automation, which is hard to configure. It needs to have custom connectors. It is the only advantage that Microsoft Power Platform has over Kofax RPA. It has more than 800 custom connectors.""Kofax RPA could improve web-based automation and there should be a choice of what browser we can use, such as Google Chrome, instead of an inbuilt browser from Kofax RPA. Additionally, Kofax RPA is missing an orchestrator that other solutions have, such as UiPath.""The technical support must be improved.""Kofax RPA needs to improve integration with SAP and Microsoft. The professional services offered by the tool's team is below par. Its licensing needs to be more modular.""It needs a free training portal for anybody on the internet to use so that they can get an idea of what the possibilities are.""Automation with the latest websites is not effective. The support of newer websites developed using new technologies would improve this solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "In terms of licensing costs, we pay somewhere around S14,000 USD per month. There are some additional costs. For example, we would have to subscribe to some additional computing and for elasticity, but they are minimal."
  • "This is a cost-effective solution."
  • "The price you pay is determined by how much you use it."
  • "Understanding the pricing model for Data Factory is quite complex."
  • "I would not say that this product is overly expensive."
  • "The licensing is a pay-as-you-go model, where you pay for what you consume."
  • "Our licensing fees are approximately 15,000 ($150 USD) per month."
  • "The licensing cost is included in the Synapse."
  • More Azure Data Factory Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The normal price for an on-premises license is €50,000. That's the price for one robot license. You can have more than one robot license but only one can be run at any one time. I believe the cost of adding a second robot is around €14,000."
  • "Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
  • "I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
  • "Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
  • "Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
  • "There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
  • "Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
  • "I give the price of the solution a six out of ten."
