Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The initial setup was fairly easy."

More BMC Compuware Strobe Pros →

"It has the ability to monitor random URLs not tied to the one pinger per application (though it costs extra).""It has given us better insight into the performance of the system.""They instrument up from the bottom to the top – every piece of code - they have a very perfect read of what’s being done, and how long it’s taking.""The synthetics, alerts, and native inbuilt capabilities for monitoring the cloud with the New Relic agents have been helpful.""We like the performance of the product.""The simplicity of the dashboard is very good.""It is easier to create new dashboards in the New Relic interface, and it is also easier to query if when I want to monitor a different parameter or time duration on my dashboard.""The stability of New Relic APM is very good."

Cons
"There are certain aspects of the configuration that could be simplified a bit."

More BMC Compuware Strobe Cons →

"New Relic is very slow, and the app is a bit frustrating to use, which is something that has been happening a lot in the past year. During the last six months, I have noticed that it has become extremely laggy.""New Relic needs to improve is the user data schema.""One thing that we noticed was that historical information was only for a limited period, which was not helpful in certain scenarios. For example, if I want to size my system for an event for New Year or Christmas season based on the historical data, I won't be able to find the historical data. Currently, the data is limited to three months. It would be helpful if they can provide historical data for a longer duration so that we can plan our system accordingly.""Documentation is one of the biggest things that I have a problem with since its documentation is not clear sometimes.""Some of our customers see New Relic as a promising product to have, and we would like to deliver it to them. The only way we would be able to do that would be if we had server appliance for clients that we could install in their data centres.""We would like a dashboard feature to be created for this product. This would allow us to monitor both the front and back-end of our UIs performance, and then report on it.""The solution could improve by having more network monitoring features, such as for all the infrastructure.""How granular I could go down at looking at certain data, especially related to the operations, is limited."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
  • "The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
  • "Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
  • "It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
  • "If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
  • "I recommend using the free version of New Relic. If you like the free version and understand its importance for your company, you can move to the trial. Then, you can migrate to the paid version."
  • "There is a picture which goes to your browser and it monitors requests from other users. However, it's impossible to use now because the price is very high. The feature is very nice, but I tried it during the trial period, and the current price makes it impossible to use."
  • "They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
