Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Fewer vulnerabilities have been observed in the four years we have used the solution.""The tool for forecasting capacity is valuable.""Has really nice roll-up dashboards.""Mobile application is the most valuable feature for us. We can monitor all the storages on our phones. It's really good.""The best thing about this solution is that you can check for the infrastructure and system updates that you might need to be compliant with the Cloud."

"The recent life cycle management feature is really helpful to us. Before that, we had to do everything manually, but now it's like a one-stop shop. We can upgrade firmware and all of the software from there. Also, managing storage information and other hardware-related resources is easy using Prism.""Nutanix Prism is popular in the Indian market, particularly in enterprises where they need a DR type of environment, and where they look for less than finite RPO and RTO. If you have this environment on-premises, and if you can just rent out some portion to any of the service providers, then you can easily set up a DR environment to give you a finite list versus RPO and RTO.""There are so many valuable features but Nutanix Flow for microsegmentation of the network, and the Life Cycle Manager for dating hardware and software are among the most important for us.""Prism provides us with insights and the ability to access all the sub-components of Nutanix's hyperconverged platform.""Since we began using Nutanix the performance for virtual desktops is much better.""Everything has been valuable, without a doubt the server is self-managed with Prism in an efficient way, it solves possible logical errors to maintain production without interruptions, it's great.""The feature that stands out for me is the simplicity and ease of use. That is what comes to mind when I think about the Prism console. You don't need to be a core technical person to manage a cluster. Everything is available in the console itself.""By using virtualization, we are saving on the cost of hardware."

Cons
"PowerScale is the only file system offered and that is limiting.""Doesn't do well in terms of integrating with technologies other than Dell.""Supporting legacy systems is an area that can be improved.""The reporting capabilities of this solution could be improved.""In terms of improvement, they should enhance the product range."

More Dell CloudIQ Cons →

"On the technical side, although you don't need a shutdown to upgrade Nutanix, for downgrading you do. If it were possible that when downgrading CPU or memory you didn't have to reboot the VM, that would be very helpful for us.""Nutanix Prism could improve by having more features or configurations in the web interface. We should not have to use the command-line interface(CLI). For some clients using the CLI can be difficult.""The product currently fails to provide a complete view to customers.""The VM backup could be better, and its licensing could be better. We have had some licensing issues with Nutanix Files. The default license should be 1 TB or more. Currently, for Nutanix Files sharing, we can only use 500 Gigabytes.""The licensing cost has room for improvement.""Nutanix Prism needs more flexibility commercially and more flexibility with their licensing. Currently they're very fixed on their licensing model, for example, it's based on terabyte calculation.""Some of the products are not interoperable for multi-cloud or multi-site tasks.""With our previous storage solutions or hardware platforms, when there was a failing component, the replacement component was shipped out the next day. There was no user interaction needed for that process. With Nutanix, sometimes I have to open the ticket to begin the hardware issue... The process itself is not extremely clear and I've been assured that that process will be improved in the very near future."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution is more expensive than NetApp which offers file systems in various price ranges."
  • More Dell CloudIQ Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "A lot of my customers complain about the price of renewals, so I think that this can be improved."
  • "Compared to VMware, the price of this solution is great."
  • "Nutanix Prism is priced better than some of the competing solutions."
  • "This product is cheaper than using VMware."
  • "The license we bought for Nutanix Prism is perpetual, so once you have it, you can keep on using it. It's a three-year license that's paid one time. The license we have covers the three-node cluster."
  • "The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
  • "We have spent a lot of money on the Nutanix solution with Prism. Yet, for this amount of money we could be buying high-end storage with a lot of IOPS and bandwidth, even more than with Nutanix."
  • "Nutanix have bundles for pricing. On a single bundle, we get everything including vSAN or VMware and there are no additional costs. It is just a single license that is needed."
