We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The stability is quite good. Once you deploy all the equipment, it's very stable.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most valuable features are that it's easy to set up PowerVault. I also like the provisioning of storage.""Dell PowerVault offers valuable full flash storage.""It is an inexpensive storage solution.""The initial setup was easy and simple.""The solution is reliable and stable.""Dell PowerVault is user-friendly and easy to deploy."

"HPE StoreOnce has high performance.""HPE StoreOnce is particularly useful in situations where organizations require a backup solution to store their data. Its deduplication feature is quite impressive, providing a deduplication ratio of around 25 to 26.""It is a very scalable solution.""The most valuable features are the deduplication and compression capabilities.""If you have a large enough storage capacity then you can take an ample amount of data.""It results in more efficient storage utilization, cutting capital expenditure in half.""I like the tool’s deduplication feature. We get a ratio of 9:1 for deduplication. The product is also Linux based. Last year, our organization faced some virus attacks. However, the backup was safe because of the product being a Linux version. HPE StoreOnce is a secure product.""The solution's licensing policy is more practical and not confusing."

Cons
"There have been situations when our customers requested professional support and the price of that feature is quite high.""The product is generally stable, but there have been instances, to my knowledge, where we faced issues in the controller during software upgrades. The availability is not at the desired level during these upgrade processes, as we sometimes need to shut down both controllers. This could be an area for improvement.""In most instances, clients are using Dell PowerVault with tape drives, but we want to transition them away from tape drives due to the risk of data loss.""PowerVault could be improved by increasing its memory cache capacity and adding the ability to export data to the cloud.""We could set up the installation through a web server, but it's not very reactive on the web server. For example, when you launch a task, and you don't know exactly if the task has begun or if the task is in progress, or if it's finished. You have to wait for three to five to ten minutes to be sure that the task is running or in progress or finished. So at that point, it's not very good.""Dell PowerVault is block-oriented storage only.""Dell PowerVault could improve by having a higher cache and file protocol support added.""In the next release, I would like the deduplication and compression included, as well as the flash technology. It doesn't currently use it."

More Dell PowerVault Cons →

"The solution should continue to refine its integration capabilities. I also see they are starting to use cloud integration as well, which is good, but they should do more to integrate with it.""The solution must provide backup options for smaller capacities.""We would like to see some improvements in the Veeam Backup & Replication integration. It's good, but it has a lot of room to improve. In particular around the inability to easily move data between StoreOnce appliances.""We're outsourced with a partner who recalls a larger amount of problems with the stability of the product.""The appliance doesn't have the global deduplication, it has StoreOnce deduplication. It does not deduplicate across the appliance, it will deduplicate in one particular store. With the global deduplication, I could store more data.""The product could be improved with better support for data protection.""The user interface of HPE StoreOnce is an area of concern where improvements are required.""The solution's technical support should be faster."

  • "The price puts me off. It's definitely on the high side."
  • "To be honest, we were quite happy with the price, but we always want things cheaper than they are. I think for what we got, we felt that the price was quite reasonable comparing it to other products that provide that same level of functionality."

  • "Price-wise, it comes with a high price tag when compared to other products."

You can offload the data to the HPE Cloud. It is a licensed product. We have got around 10 TB of cloud bank storage with a one-time payment. We specifically took 10 TB for very critical offsite backups. We can also increase it in blocks if needed."
  • "The licensing schemes could improve in HPE StoreOnce and the price is high. They should reduce the price."
  • "I think the product is competitive in terms of pricing. Other products like the one from Dell are costlier compared to the tool."
