We performed a comparison between ExtremeCloud IQ and ExtremeWireless based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Cisco, Fortinet, Broadcom and others in Network Management Applications."Ability to assign zero trust policies from the user."
"Integrated Firewall in every AP (with DPI inspection) is a killer feature and it is included already in the price of licence (with others, this feature is an add-on licence)."
"What's most valuable for me in ExtremeCloud IQ is easy management. It also has centralized administration, so you don't have to go to the customer site to program it. It can be programmed remotely."
"Extreme is transitioning to 802.11ax facilities running the 2G and the 5G cloud, allowing for higher density in education use cases, and ExtremeCloud IQ provides you with novel ways to manage everything. In the old days, you used to have a controller on-site for your access points, but everything is easier now."
"Our transaction polling is now way more secure."
"ExtremeCloud IQ is an intuitive platform. The tool's ability to streamline network operations depends on the end customer. Sometimes it's quicker, and sometimes it takes much longer. It helps me to address network problems."
"The feature that I like to most is unified management in a multitenant environment, where we can manage all our customers with thousands of devices (routers, switches, VPNs, and APs)."
"The cloud-based controller through HiveManager is its most valuable feature. I can manage and configure changes to my access points from anywhere."
"ExtremeWireless provides us with enterprise-level authentication methods at an excellent cost. It supports all the latest authentication methods. Another advantage is the built-in DHCP server. We don't need third-party DHCP servers to get the IPF."
"ExtremeWireless offers profiles, policies, and tags."
"The cloud-based management system is valuable."
"I like Cloud IQ, ExtremeWireless' cloud controller and analytics platform. It's full of information, easy to use, and provides excellent visibility into my network."
"The initial setup process is simple."
"The most useful feature is how the product integrates with the Microsoft directory in the cloud."
"The security is very good."
"The stability of the solution has been fine."
"ExtremeCloud IQ’s user interface needs to be improved, and its current bugs need to be fixed."
"A room for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is roaming. My team is facing roaming issues with the solution, particularly when using VoIP over WiFi. For example, VoIP sometimes breaks when you walk around the customer site. In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful."
"The dashboard and stability need to be improved."
"The Virtual Appliance crashed once while doing an upgrade. The good thing here is, even if the management system fails, all our networks and features still remain 100% stable and working."
"Integrating the network access control solution can be complex, as it essentially combines two separate products."
"I know a school district, a big school district of mine, ripped out Extreme due to inefficiencies. It was the guest network that can be a struggle. They tried to differentiate between their primary network, and then offer a secondary."
"The certification costs from suppliers are getting out of control, and it's not just Extreme. We have the same problem with Cisco and Huawei."
"I would like to see a remote phone application for monitoring APs when on the road."
"The solution should offer better support."
"The solution must include integrated IoT solutions on their wireless APs."
"In the next release, I would like to see more security features."
"The main area for improvement is the company's local visibility."
"The user interface of ExtremeWireless could be better. It is not user-friendly."
"The management portal is in need of improvement."
"It is a subscription model, so it is maybe a bit pricey."
"The onsite controllers are not as good as the cloud controller. I would also like ExtremeWireless to add web filtering on the access point. This feature is available from other vendors but not ExtremeWireless."
