We performed a comparison between Heroku and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle and others in PaaS Clouds."It is easy to deploy applications, and we don't need to bother about software updates on the server. We don't need to bother about machines, servers, and hardware. We only need to care about the system and functionality that we need or want to develop. They take care of everything else. It provides high availability. It is a pretty good solution that provides everything that we need. It has everything that we need to run our applications. We have many different applications, and we generate three million bills for a company in Brazil. We see more than a billion requests per day in another application. Everything works just fine, and it is very good."
"Thanks to Heroku, we don't need to do as much direct management in AWS."
"The most valuable feature of Heroku is the continuous integration and applications it provides."
"What I found most valuable about this solution is that it's easy to use and integrate with GitHub actions."
"The platform is very Node.js-friendly, which is something that is important to us."
"Valuable for us was the fast deployment. This means the time to market is improved without pain for developers."
"One of the best things about Heroku is that it is very easy and straightforward to deploy an application."
"I like the tool's scalability, CLI, and dashboards."
"The environment is super fast so you get all the underlying machines behind the data. It's a good processing machine, especially in the Generation Two Cloud."
"The product is scalable."
"We use the solution for EC2. It helps me to create around six servers for free to test out things. It also provides me with an authenticated cloud nameserver. We also use it as a wireguard endpoint."
"We appreciate the fact that this solution will operate with both native and third-party applications. This has meant that we don't need to change all of our systems to accommodate it within our network."
"OCI's best features are its price, databases, and Linux compatibility."
"Frankly speaking, I've been very impressed with the stability the solution offers. Everything is working very well at the moment, and we haven't had any issues or faced any bugs or glitches."
"The technical support is good, they have been responsive and helpful."
"The product gives you independence from hardware onsite, the setup is easy, and there is no need for hardware maintenance."
"Their support is good, but they can improve their response time."
"We have to do daily restarts of some processes, which is annoying, and the support for custom CI could be better."
"We don't find the pipelines intuitive. The user experience could be better. Having to set up multiple apps, then a pipeline, seems like an overkill on the amount of work to do."
"We would like to be notified when something goes wrong in the process. When something is not working, we should get an alert."
"The tool's configuration is complex."
"Heroku had an authentication problem a few months ago, but they solved it."
"They could flesh out some of their analytics a little more."
"I think this solution would be improved if free demos were available indefinitely."
"The solution is expensive. So we try to use MySQL on AWS to push the data. The tool’s support could be improved."
"What I'd like to see from Oracle Cloud is an option for the customer to have a single portal to manage and monitor not just Oracle Cloud, but some of the on-premise products in the hybrid scenario as well. If it can be shipped out as an out-of-the-box solution, that would be wonderful. It's not so easy, but for a company like Oracle, it shouldn't be a problem. Many customers go through a lot of effort and burn money to achieve this, so it's an opportunity for Oracle to provide it for customers looking for this type of solution."
"One improvement that would be helpful is the addition of a replication option on their Standard Edition OD service. Currently, this option is not available, which leads many customers to move to the Enterprise edition. However, other cloud service providers, such as Amazon AWS offer replication options at a similar tier. It would be beneficial if Oracle also explored providing this option for their Standard Edition service."
"I think that there could be a more user-friendly environment when it comes to the options that Oracle presents through the Oracle Cloud Platform."
"The monitoring tool and the migration from on-premise to the cloud should be much easier."
"With Oracle you have to create your own roles and it is more complex."
"The deployment from on-premises to the cloud is a bit complicated."
"Simplifying the cloud management console would be really valuable for small and large customers alike."
