We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
It's easy to backup data, manage. AQuick recovery. The most valuable features for us are the ease of use, the reliability, and the exceptional deduplication that we get across that data that we store on those devices. We also really benefit from the GUI capabilities.I think the most valuable feature is the catalyst technology, which is in the StoreOnce appliance. The valuable feature is the ability to work with the Veeam software to reduce the backup windows.

Cons
I don't see any new features that we could want or anything that could be done along those lines. Just that we need a bigger machine, so more speed.Agnostic backups. We would like to see some improvements in the Veeam Backup & Replication integration. It's good, but it has a lot of room to improve. In particular around the inability to easily move data between StoreOnce appliances. We're outsourced with a partner who recalls a larger amount of problems with the stability of the product. We archive our backups on tape, so I feel like if we could somehow plug our tape drive directly into the StoreOnce device and set it up to where it would archive based on, if some kind of rules based engine or what have you, that would really be an improvement for us.I would like to see better integration with Veeam software.

Needs to add wizards for newer, inexperienced users. The WAFL is slow. The adoption of flash by NetApp has also been lagging behind the trendsetters, like TMS, Nimble, and others.Needs to improve the adaptive storage quality of service.Needs more SAN support. As I see it, there could be more interfaces, more cache, etc. With scalability, we feel the system is limited. It may need more flexibility to fight with other competing arrays.

Pricing and Cost Advice
To be honest, we were quite happy with the price, but we always want things cheaper than they are. I think for what we got, we felt that the price was quite reasonable comparing it to other products that provide that same level of functionality. The price puts me off. It's definitely on the high side.

The price, compared to competitors, is quite high.Cost effective storage for all performance levels (including all-flash).The only area that could be improved is to lower prices for their All Flash FAS.The price it not low, but comparing features to other vendors, the price can be balanced. There are products available in market with comparatively lower costs. Most storage vendors also have software, or licensing bundles, which may offer the required licenses considerably cheaper, but do also maybe offer licenses, which are not needed. The process for going to cluster mode is expensive.it’s not an inexpensive solution and it may not be for the cost-sensitive customer.
