We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable features of this solution are the IPS and the integration with ISE.""The simplicity of use is its most valuable feature. You can very clearly see things.""The stability of the solution is perfect. I believe it's the most stable solution on the market right now.""I am really satisfied with the technical support.""It is a very stable program.""The solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It's one of the best features.""It doesn't impact the devices. It is an agent-based solution, and we see no performance knock on cell phones. That was a big thing for us, especially in the mobile world. We don't see battery degradation like you do with other solutions which really drain the battery, as they're constantly doing things. That can shorten the useful life of a device.""Integration is a key selling factor for Cisco security products. We have a Cisco Enterprise Agreement with access to Cisco Email Security, Cisco Firepower, Cisco Stealthwatch, Cisco Talos, Cisco Threat Grid, Cisco Umbrella, and also third-party solutions. This is key to our security and maximizing operations. Because we do have the Email Security appliance and it is integrated with Threat Response, we have everything tied together. Additionally, we are using the Cisco SecureX platform, as we were a beta test for that new solution. With SecureX, we are able to pull all those applications into one pane for visibility and maintenance. This greatly maximizes our security operations."

"Defender is integrated into the operating system. It's integrated with everything. You don't have to spend time analyzing what you have to do to be sure that the integration is okay between the security tool and all the other apps. This, from my point of view, is the main advantage.""The most valuable features are that it's easy to use and the updates are very simple.""The most valuable feature is that we can use the solution right out of the box without too much configuration.""Automatic scanning and cleaning of viruses is the best and most valuable feature helping this tool to thrive. If any viruses are found, they are cleaned automatically.""We have liked the fact that it comes with Microsoft Windows 10 and it is constantly updated with all new virus definitions. It is also updated with new security features on a regular basis.""It's absolutely free to use.""The fact that it's from Microsoft, you don't have many false positives, unlike products from other vendors might have.""The patch management is very easy, as it can be done automatically or added to a schedule."

"The most amazing qualities of Symantec Endpoint Protection is that it provides a total solution to all virus problems.""The firewall, malware, and anti-virus protection have earned its keep in times past by catching the unexpected.""The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus.""This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease.""It's good at detecting signature-based stuff and stopping that.""Some of the features that were important were a built-in firewall and device control.""Some important features that are included are the built-in firewall and device control.""The most valuable feature is the automated updating feature."

Cons
"In the next version of this solution, I would like to see the addition of local authentication.""The initial setup is a bit complex because you need to execute existing antiviruses or security software that you have on your device.""In the next release, I would for it to have back up abilities. I would like the ability to go back to a point in time to when my PC was uninfected and to the moment of when the infection happened.""The reporting and analytics areas of the solution need to be improved.""I would like more seamless integration.""The technical support is very slow.""I would recommend that the solution offer more availability in terms of the product portfolio and integration with third-party products.""Maybe there is room for improvement in some of the automated remediation. We have other tools in place that AMP feeds into that allow for that to happen, so I look at it as one seamless solution. But if you're buying AMP all by itself, I don't know if it can remove malicious software after the fact or if it requires the other tools that we use to do some of that."

"The solution needs to improve its ransomware. It's not so good. It could also use some general performance optimization for the computers the solution operates on, to ensure it does not slow down the devices.""I would like to be able to set up any kind of protection I want in the firewall, any IP address or any number.""There's scanning going on that occasionally topples the memory, causing everything to freeze. This should be fixed.""With increase of cyber threats and cybersecurity issues, I would recommend that the product be developed like an AI product with more features which can counter any threat in the coming eras.""There is no behavior analytics for devices and endpoints. There is no behavior-based protection.""The anti-ransomware features need to be improved upon.""I would like to have a dashboard that shows an overview of the results for the enterprise.""I would like to see better integration with their other security products to give better visibility from a higher level."

More Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Cons »

"It is only available to use on computers with higher-end specs.""Managements' number one item on the "Wish List" would have to do with the real-time scan of external media inserted into any client.""I would like to see improvements in the anti-virus and the device control features.""In the next release of this solution, I would like to see more to do with malware, encryption technology, and controlling mobile devices.""It needs to die. In my opinion, Symantec was a really great security company, 10, 15 years ago. They went out, they bought all the great tools and then they never did anything with them. So they've just fallen behind and there's nothing that's going to work now to bring them back up the date that's going to regain user confidence.""They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus.""They are lacking the visibility that you get in a heuristical, next-generation AI product.""This solution is resource-heavy."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The costs of 50 licenses of AMP for three years is around $9,360.""The price is very good.""The visibility that we have into the endpoint and the forensics that we're able to collect give us value for the price. This is not an overly expensive solution, considering all the things that are provided. You get great performance and value for the cost.""Whenever you are doing the licensing process, I would highly advise to look at what other Cisco solutions you have in your organization, then evaluate if an Enterprise Agreement is the best way to go. In our case, it was the best way to go. Since we had so many other Cisco products, we were able to tie those in. We were actually able to get several Cisco security solutions for less than if we had bought three or four Cisco security solutions independently or ad hoc.""In our case, it is a straightforward annual payment through our Enterprise Agreement.""Our company was very happy with the price of Cisco AMP. It was about a third of what we were paying for System Center Endpoint Protection.""There are a couple of different consumption models: Pay up front, or if you have an enterprise agreement, you can do a monthly thing. Check your licensing possibilities and see what's best for your organization.""The Enterprise Agreement is like an all-you-can-eat buffet of Cisco products. In that vein, it was very affordable."

"The product is free of charge and comes integrated into Windows.""The solution is free.""This product is included in the pricing for Windows.""If you don't purchase the advanced threat protection then there is no additional charge.""It is affordable and comes in the Office 365 bundle.""Microsoft Defender ATP is expensive.""I pay for it through the Windows Professional or Standard license. It is a one-time cost for me, and I use the same license.""When compared with other vendors, the pricing is very high."

"We pay our licensing fees on a yearly basis, and everything is included in that price.""Its price should be reasonable.""There are subscription costs, we typically purchase the annual subscription. There can be other expenses too, for example, we use CrowdStrike also as part of our policy.""The prices fluctuate, but this year I think it was maybe around $12,000.""The EDR options are costlier than other products.""Licensing is based on a yearly subscription.""Symantec is expensive.""Its price is reasonable."
