We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
This solution has allowed us to become a top-class competitor among other consulting companies. It is a reliable solution for our needs. The implementation was fairly straightforward. The most valuable features are ad hoc reporting and the ability to create dashboards. The whole repository side of things is beneficial because you develop it once, and you can use it anywhere, in the Enterprise grade. It scales well. It used to have only a max of four I-servers, but I think recently, somewhere in version 10, they doubled that, so you can have eight I-servers now.Cube performance and easy integration with third-party tools/products, are valuable features.Mobile brings reports/dashboards closer to the business user.

The most valuable feature is flexibility. The most valuable feature is the user experience. The most valuable feature is the interface for the end-user.Qlik Sense makes it very easy to build interactive presentations for meetings. The most valuable feature is the drag-and-drop reporting.Allowing the users to be able to take snapshots and create their own story without ever leaving the application is a very good feature. The integration with R & Python for predictive modeling, and possibly machine learning in the future, is very valuable. The most valuable feature of QlikSense is that you can capture the data without modifying it and then perform the ETL (extract, transform, and load) process.

Cons
I would like to see a single standalone application to control everything from the administration perspective, and also to develop new applications. This solution is missing enhanced features in the dashboards. The product could be improved by adding additional visualization.Another feature to consider in the future would be adding some additional offline capabilities without using desktops. If you compare it with Power BI with the DAX language, it would be great to put that into MicroStrategy.I don't think that they will, but I'd like to see parallel processing, scalable parallel processing.Data writeback, and on-the-fly predictive analysis results from R and Python could be improved. With Cube partition (v10.1 and above) scalability has not been an issue, but the Cube publish time, and temporary space consumption while the Cube is being published, has almost doubled during implementation of Cube partition.

Performing data transformations required a lot of programming, which is something that should be made easier.I would like to have the ability to better customize the visuals including changing fonts, sizing, colors, axes, and titles. We want the next version of this solution to be cloud-based so that each user can access it from anywhere in the world with their phone, tablet, or computer without a VPN connection. It would be nice to have more native features from QlikView built into Qlik Sense.Report generation without the need for NPrinting, which has limited capabilities anyway, would be an improvement. Some of the charts are still a bit basic and screen rendering on different sized monitors can be an issue. As we are a very process-oriented company, we would like to see more extensions maintained from Qlik, because it's a huge budget problem to choose the right one.Currently, we are not very happy with the iPad or iPhone app because it is not working as we want.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The licensing is a bit high per user.Pricing, in general, is high. With Power BI, you get mobile with the license, whereas with MicroStrategy, you have to purchase mobile for extra.

Qlik Sense and its pricing model can follow any scalability.QlikSense offers a Hybrid environment architecture, which is very cost effective based on where the enterprise data resides.Licensing can start to get expensive, but compared to other tools in this space it is about average.Licensing is quite good, easy, but slightly expensive.Costs are a little high on the license/token side. However, if you look at the TCO, it is not too bad, particularly against Power BI.Know your needs when going into the purchasing decision. The costs can initially become quite high. Make sure you have a clear understanding of who will truly use the product as opposed to someone that will simply receive the end report. The new licensing model is much better.
