We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Another important feature is that the solution doesn't require any additional infrastructure to implement. It's a software license that is compatible with our existing hardware. We were able to install and configure the product seamlessly and effortlessly.""Our clients primarily deploy Palo Alto Networks Enterprise DLP to control the flow of information in and out of their networks. The main use cases include monitoring and managing sensitive data such as credit card information and personally identifiable information.""The setup is very easy as we just need to switch on and switch off.""It is a stable solution with good support."

"All of the features are really important, including DLP for the OCR and endpoint. It will be all of the combined features that will give you the strength to control the data. Every feature has its own uniqueness, different control and will help you to protect the data.""We can integrate with some other tools such as Splunk, which is very useful.""The most valuable features of Symantec Data Loss Prevention are endpoint security, endpoint agent, and DLP. Additionally, we have been satisfied with the policies.""The most valuable aspect of Symantec DLP is its broad coverage. Symantec DLP covers USB, Outlook email clients, and web traffic. If we install the endpoint DLP, we can cover multiple channels, including the clipboard and printer.""The most valuable feature is file-level DLP.""Good end point encryption and data loss prevention.""The incident response capability has been instrumental in mitigating potential data loss.""Symantec Data Loss Prevention is the number one product in its field. It does its job well and it has all the necessary features. It is definitely better than any other solution on the market."

Cons
"You need to have an external solution to backup everything. For example, you need to have Syslog installed on your server as well so that you can back it up to another place.""The solution needs improvement in stability. There has been feedback regarding the accuracy of file categorization.""Its scalability is not on par with the features of others.""There is room for improvement in the documentation around the maintenance of the product, how the automatic updates work, and pushing out new policies. A little more detail and context in that area would be helpful."

"The enforce service is difficult to understand, and free courses made available on the internet would be useful.""It is very difficult to log in to create a support ticket because no one is available to support our queries.""The product must improve its interface.""We're not sure if there was an issue or a bug on the system recently because as of right now if someone sends out a compressed encrypted file, the DLP won't scan it.""Symantec could be better with infrastructure.""In a majority of cases, most of the companies are using DLP for endpoint sessions, where you have a user that might be communicating information outside of the company. However, they forget there are actual interfaces that can directly communicate with either the database or other files within the data center that uses end-to-end encryption. In those cases, you might need things like your DLP to be able to monitor and block some of that. The solution needs to catch information communicated through the data center on the server-side.""The upgrade process is convoluted. The server and database software must run in line with third-party providers like the Oracle database. If an Oracle database reaches the end of its life, then servers must be decommissioned, and you need to bring new servers online. When the maintenance packages are deployed to the management server, they don't get pushed to the detection servers. Each detection server must be manually installed rather than automatically made from a single server. If it's a large enterprise, you need to manually install it or use a GPO or some other technology, which I never use.""Technical support is pathetic."

    Overview

Cloud-Delivered Data Protection: The industry’s first cloud-delivered Enterprise DLP that consistently protects sensitive data across all networks, clouds and users.

Keeping sensitive corporate information safe and compliant has never been easy. But today, you’re faced with a totally new set of data protection challenges. Sensitive information is leaving the safety of your corporate network as more employees share files over consumer cloud storage services and access those files on their own mobile devices. The number of targeted cyber attacks continues to grow, as cybercriminals develop effective new methods for defeating traditional security measures and stealing corporate information. And as all of these factors converge, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage corporate information and protect it against loss and theft.

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) provides a comprehensive approach to information protection that embraces today’s cloud- and mobile-centered realities. With DLP, you can:

    • Discover where data is stored across all of your cloud, mobile, network, endpoint, and storage systems

    • Monitor how data is being used, whether your employees are on or off the network

    • Protect data from being leaked or stolen—no matter where it’s stored or how it’s used
