We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The Veeam Backup and Replication Suite is very user-friendly.""The ease of use for the graphical interface and the ease of installation are the most valuable features of this solution.""The solution is very simple. Management of the platform is so simple that we don't need to have any training to deploy this solution.""It's most compatible with VMware. It can restore single files instead of having to restore the whole machine, once again leading to savings for the company.""The initial setup was straightforward. It's not complicated. It takes around half an hour to implement, but it depends on the performance of the server that you are installing the backup software on.""The solution is very user-friendly and has an easy to use interface. We can manage it easily. It allows for a simple backup.""The really amazing feature about Veeam Agent is that when you're using the central deployment model, you can actually use the instant VM recovery feature, which is really a pain point that I find some days.""The technical support is good."

"This is the best solution that I know of.""We were evaluating other products and getting confused between Commvault and Veritas NetBackup. The one reason that we started with Veritas NetBackup is the pricing of the license. There's no other reason from a technical perspective or even operation or capability of the two software. The main reason we chose Veritas NetBackup was that in our use case it is more cost-effective.""Veritas NetBackup Automatic Image Replication and CloudCatalyst features allow me to replicate deduped backup images from one site to a remote site, as well as duplicating deduped images to the Cloud (i.e. AWS S3, etc.)""The reporting is very good, with all of the details highlighted and very clear.""The most valuable features are the VMware VADP backups and the support for data domains.""The VM portal and the CloudCatalyst are two of the solution's most valuable features.""Good graphical user interface. It's easy to create policies and to do installs.""The solution offers very good storage efficiency, so there's excellent compression and deduplication within the product that our clients really appreciate."

Cons
"In new releases, I hope they can support Oracle cloud.""It could use deduplication features.""Scalability, if you are talking about Linux, is good. However, if you need to backup more types of solutions or Unix systems, like HP/UX, AIX, etc., it's not compatible.""It's scalable, but it's not scalable on every platform.""In terms of the physical environment, I'd like them to integrate it with other kinds of solutions. We don't just work with Microsoft or Linux, but other kinds of infrastructure data as well.""It would be much better if more applications were supported on the Linux side. For example, their agent for Windows not only can back up the Windows machine, but it can also back up Active Directory for granular restore, SQL servers, Exchange, Oracle, SharePoint, etc. When it comes to Linux, only Oracle databases are supported. There are workarounds, though.""In the next version, I would like to see an increase in the locations online. I have found that other products have good pickup location.""We are currently waiting for the continuous backup process."

"Endpoint backup capability is needed.""Improvements can be made to the service by providing better and more competitive ratios on data backups. The functionality for backups is there with Veritas, but I would like to see them optimize and enhance this feature more.""This product would be improved with the inclusion of a Sandbox feature like Veeam Sandbox.""This solution would benefit from a more friendly, web-based interface.""In terms of improvement, it's very difficult to make it work with multiple business units. Its security model is too constricted.""It would be helpful, in future releases, if the solution could add WORM (Write Once Read Many) support right within the product.""Lacks a reporting feature.""It would be extremely helpful if the solution offered near-zero recovery time for SQL."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Licensing costs are $300,000 USD yearly, and we pay for three years at a time.""It's a subscription based license, which is started on a yearly basis. Currently the licensing is split between three editions: standard, enterprise, and enterprise plus. As long as you check the comparison between the additions and make sure that you have what you need, there are no extra costs with Veeam.""The solution is rather expensive and I think the price is too high.""The costing is very competitive."

"This is an affordable solution""Veritas Netbackup offers affordable licensing.""We are very satisfied with the price of this solution.""If you have a source size of one terabyte then they will charge for a one terabyte license, although what is actually being stored is much less.""It's expensive when comparing to other solutions on the market.""My licensing model is based on capacity so as we grow, the price we pay increases and it becomes too expensive.""Licensing fees are charged based on the number of CPU cores.""We are happy with the pricing that we have, but it's expensive."
