Comparison Results: Veeam Backup & Replication comes out on top in this comparison. According to its users, it is easier to set up and more user friendly than Veritas NetBackup.
"There are many valuable features, for example how Copy Job is controlling the band with accelerators. The Enterprise Manager is a valuable feature. There are many very useful features. We can push in the market, because we have an advantage over the other solutions."
"I have been in contact with technical support and they are very good."
"Veeam Backup Replication has good performance and can do location-to-location backups. Additionally, it is user-friendly and easy to manage."
"Replication Job base on a source HPE Catalyst store to perform a full reconstruction of our production systems on our third datacenter, which is our DRP Site."
"The features that I have found most valuable are its ease of management, it is not complicated, it is very reliable, has good support and a lot of knowledge on the market for integrators."
"It's not complex to replicate and back up the system."
"Vendor integration for many of the enterprise features have allowed for us to have greater performance from our storage vendors further improving on our commitments to protect our clients' data."
"It has an intuitive interface, and it provides us with successful backups without needing to tweak or do any adjusting. We just set it up and like their ad says, "It Just Works.""
"This is the best solution that I know of."
"The reporting is very good, with all of the details highlighted and very clear."
"Its ability to cover a large spectrum of products and operating systems is invaluable. We evaluated other products but always found certain limitations like some products had only intel-based virtualization, while others had power servers."
"Disaster recovery primarily involves backup usage. We employ it for both backup and recovery purposes. The backup and recovery processes have been executed multiple times, even restoring data from backups created three to four years ago."
"The main thing I like about NetBackup is CloudPoint. You can take a snapshot of the endpoint and back it up with CloudPoint. The data backups are the most important."
"It was especially useful with the appliances we use on a daily basis."
"Includes snapshots and multiple database agents."
"The solution is stable."
"The price can be a bit expensive."
"They need a better solution for backend storage."
"There's a situation where VMs run on different locks. It's running on the VM while having a relationship with nearby solutions running on the same server and storage. This creates a bottleneck that needs to be eliminated."
"The interface and cluster environments could be improved in the future as presently they are using agent interface instead of user interface. Also, the backup for the Oracle WAC environment can be improved."
"There is some complexity we have experienced when using the solution that should be simplified."
"It is efficient but can improve security-wise."
"There are certain solutions, such as Rubrik and Cohesity, that are little by little, taking market share. Veeam needs to be more aggressive to keep their dominance in the space."
"Occasionally, in the course of upgrading one's virtualization platform, the backup can be ruined."
"What needs to be improved in Veritas NetBackup is its interface, e.g. they should make it more user friendly. Scalability for this product could still be improved, particularly its hardware appliance scalability."
"Netbackup can backup MySQL via Oracle policy, to be honest, this is not completely native support and this method has a few limitations. In fact, you can buy from Veritas (or Zmanda) clients for MySQL or PostgerSQL from Zmanda to backup MySQL or PostgreSQL on Linux."
"The solution could have a more clear dashboard about the license and the operation status."
"NetBackup's reporting features are a little poor."
"I also think they could improve the reporting. They use a web-based software application OpsCenter for the reporting and I see that they haven't made any changes in years."
"It's a little bit complex to manage."
"It was very complicated, and it required a lot of work in terms of management. We have moved to Rubrik. One of the reasons for getting rid of Veritas NetBackup was the fact that at one point, we had the support staff with 12 to 15 people to manage Veritas NetBackup, whereas, with Rubrik, I'm the only one managing Rubrik. There is one more person who works with me mostly due to the fact that in case I'm not around, someone else knows what to do, but I'm the only one who is a full-time manager of Rubrik. The complexity of Veritas required a large staff to manage it. We had daily issues that had to be looked into and resolved. A lot of these issues revolved around Veritas' handling of VMware, which is why first we moved VMware off Veritas. After we did that, we were also able to reduce our staff count. Their licensing is a disaster. It is extremely complicated. In most cases, Veritas themselves can't understand their own licensing."
"The pricing could be improved, and the interface could be more intuitive."
