Imperva Web Application Firewall Scalability

When it comes to scalability, Imperva Web Application Firewall could use some improvement. I would rate the scalability as a seven out of ten. Three people use the solution at our company.

Scalability-wise, there is one issue we encountered that I want to mention. At some point, Imperva, moved their account takeover prevention features from the on-premises edition to the cloud-based edition, and we discovered that this step would take yet another integration, seeing that we were using Imperva on-premises. These account takeover prevention features, however, were already part of our subscription, but since the features moved to the cloud, we missed out on them. So, in this sense, I would say the scalability strategy isn't as solid as it should be, and for this reason I would rate the scalability a 3.5/5.

On the other hand, when it comes to how many users we were able to scale up to, we actually had the whole organization using it, including around 3,500 clients in total.

It scales very well. I would rate it a nine out of ten for scalability.

In terms of traffic volumes, being a distributor, we do not face the issue of many customers flooding our website. It is not like an e-commerce company. At peak hours, there is almost 500 Mbps of network traffic. That is it.

Scalability-wise, it is not so scalable as the solution is quite straightforward. There's not much you can scale with the solution.

Mainly, the IT department uses the solution and there are ten to 20 of them.

In terms of scaling, Imperva Web Application Firewall is amazing. The product is really good so far.

We have very few users with direct usage - 10 users approximately.

There is zero maintenance.

Scalability is affordable. There are no issues with the process of scaling.

They have centralized management, in terms of scalability. They have centralized policy control, they have centralized application profile information. On the dashboard they have Signature Update, Monitoring, Reporting. They clearly thought about the large-scale when they made this product.

I rate the tool’s scalability a ten out of ten. Imperva allows only clean traffic. The scalability is based on the clean traffic and not the overall bandwidth of the client. Our clients are mostly enterprise businesses. I have some SMB customers.

Imperva is a Gartner leader, so its scalability, performance, and features are excellent.

Cloud-based deployments offer easy scalability. On-premises scaling is more complex because it depends on our hardware; we have to mount some servers and specific requirements.

We have around 10 to 15 customers.

It is for large-scale enterprises where the traffic is huge, and there are many internet-facing applications, which is a plus point of Imperva.

We don't have the HA mode for the respective solution in Imperva, which has to be there when we have the DC and DR locations. We can activate only one solution at DC, but while we are conducting the drills between DC and DR, it is quite difficult to import all the configurations at the DR location in Imperva. It takes time.

The solution is scalable, however, in terms of scalability, you're required to change the appliance, as it's not like a cloud, which is easier to scale. I would not rate it very well when it comes to scalability, because a model of license-based upgrades would be better. They could give you a bigger box to make it easier to grow if you needed to.
