MikroTik Cloud Router Switch Reviews

I use the solution for firewalls, routing, and sometimes for wireless links, for example, wireless point-to-point links.

The firewall is very simple. It's simple to configure and is very user-friendly. It's great for small to medium companies. 

It is easy to set up the solution. 

The solution is stable. 

MikroTik needs to add some features like IPS, mail security, or antivirus, et cetera.

I've been using the solution for 11 years. 

It is very good and quite stable. It's very good for edge networks in medium and small companies. 

The solution isn't necessarily scalable. It's better for small or medium-sized companies and not for enterprises. 

I do use the solution for many projects in companies in Iran. We have 100 to 300 users across some small companies. Occasionally, I do need to increase usage. 

I cannot get support since I am in Iran, and there are sanctions. 

The solution is very simple to set up. The entire process is very comfortable. 

It might take about an hour or two to configure the solution. 

I can help with the implementation process. 

We have witnessed an ROI as it is very cheap. 

The pricing is quite fair.

I'd recommend the solution to smaller companies. The pricing is good and it is easy to configure. 

I would rate the solution six out of ten. 

We're doing our IP assigning through all the IP ranges on our segment, through MikroTik.

The solution works very well for us. 

The performance has been good and it's been stable for now. 

To some degree, the solution can scale. 

The initial setup was straightforward. 

The security will always be a priority for our network infrastructure. Right now, we're not using VLAN and we want to use VLAN, so it's more of a physical LAN network and we want to move towards VLAN and have a layer three VLAN network systems and use proper switches to give us the security that we need. And also, obviously, we want to open our network in a more centralized way. We hope the solution will be able to help with this in the future. 

The solution does not yet offer a SaaS version.

Technical support could be better.

We've used the solution for a while. We've likely used it for seven years or so. 

The solution is stable. It offers good performance. There are no bugs or glitches. it doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable for us overall. 

Obviously, it has to be scalable to some degree, however, there's going to be a ceiling as, in a place where most of the employees are now working from home, or the hybrid environment that we're supplying, it should be more scalable to some degree. In terms of what we need and what we see, if we can purchase this as a platform as a service going forward, it would be great as it would allow us to scale to those off-site.

We have just over 200 staff on the solution currently. I'm not sure if we have a plan to increase usage in the future.

Technical support needs to be faster and more and more knowledgeable. Overall, they just need to be a bit better. 

We also deal with NETGEAR. I've also used Lynksys in the past.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. It's not overly complex. I cannot recall, however, how long it took to implement. 

We have about five people on staff that can handle any maintenance that may be required. 

We handled the implementation with the help of some third parties. We used some internet service providers, for example. 

When we got the product, we didn't have any subscription except for a firewall, which we paid three years in advance. In terms of the MikroTik itself, however, there aren't any subscriptions that we have to pay. We paid for these outright. 

I've been quite happy with this solution and therefore have not looked into other options.

We are basically an end-user of the solution.

I'd cautiously recommend the solution to others. It's not intelligent, however, it does work. I'd rate it at a seven out of ten.

We are a solution provider and this is one of the products that we implement for our clients.

The most valuable feature is the mangle.

The firewall is very good. There are a lot of features to control permitting or stopping packets in the network.

Support for intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS) is needed.

Antispam and antivirus features should be included in the future.

I have been working with this product for about 10 years.

This is a stable solution.

This product is not recommended for enterprise-level projects. We have approximately 50 users in our company who use it.

The technical support is okay.

I have also worked with similar solutions from Cisco, Fortinet, and Juniper.

The price is very good. 

I think that Mikrotik is the best solution for SOHO and small businesses because the price is very good and it includes a lot of features. For larger companies, I would recommend a different product, perhaps by Cisco.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

This solution is deployed on a private cloud.

The interface management and the user access management is pretty good.

The packet filtering, user log data, and user access log could all be improved.

The access log is not readable. It's supposed to be readable by using third party softwares and applications using a weblog, but I would prefer that MikroTik  improve their own log management software.

I have been using this solution for about two years.

It's stable, but some features could be improved.

The scalability is fine. It covers many areas.

Technical support is not very good. It isn't comprehensive. You have to find solutions to issues by searching the internet and discussion forums. 

I would rate this solution 7 out of 10.

We are a reseller and this is one of the products that we implement for our customers. It is a GUI-based router used as part of a corporate-level network infrastructure.

This product is easy to configure.

The GUI is easy to use.

When an update is released it is easy to download and install.

If MikroTik had a marketing team and support team in India then it would be much easier for us to get the product, as well as support.

I have been using this product for the last five years.

This is a stable product and we plan to continue selling it in the future.

We use this product in small or medium-scale corporations. We have companies with up to 10,000 users.

In India, there is no distributor for MikroTik so there is no direct technical support. However, we don't need support because it is easy to use.

The initial setup is very straightforward. It takes perhaps ten minutes to deploy.

We did the implementation ourselves.

This product has a one-time cost and there is no licensing fee. This is unlike Cisco.

The MikroTik Cloud Router Switch is good but as a brand name, Cisco is always number one. This is why we use Cisco, rather than MikroTik, for banking applications. On the other hand, I would rate MikroTik a five-star rating for configuration, whereas I would rate Cisco with one star.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Our primary use cases of MikroTik Cloud Router Switches are wide area networks, data center applications, and edge routers. 

Some of the most valuable features are the simplicity, cost, usability, and power. As a package, it's extremely effective. 

Stuff that I'd like to be improved is really just training and documentation because I think the feature set is full. Another improvement I'd suggest is that their new, bigger releases should be a bit more stable. 

As far as additional features, this solution is quite fully featured already, so for our use cases, we're completely fine. 

This solution is stable. 

I think that this solution is scalable, but my company is not very big. I'm sure if you ask Microsoft, they might have a different opinion. 

This is the main platform in our organization, so we use it to supply all our users and clients. 

Before using MikroTik, we used a lot of Cisco and HP solutions. I switched to MikroTik because it provided me a much better cost performance solution. It does everything that the HPs and Ciscos do, but at a fraction of the cost, and it doesn't relapse. 

The installation process is straightforward. Right out of the box, they work. You put a couple of IP addresses on them and they're working. The initial setup time varies on the use case, so it depends on what you or your customers want and how you tailor it. 

I am an engineer, so I can install this solution myself. We have a team of five engineers. 

We implemented this solution through an in-house team. 

They came with the licensing when we purchased them. 

I rate MikroTik Cloud Router Switch a nine out of ten. 

I would recommend this solution to others. To those considering implementation, the advice I can give is that I think this is an excellent solution for small- to medium-sized, mid-range companies. It's easy to learn, easy to utilize, and there's a wealth of knowledge available on these to support them. 

We bought it for our office to distribute internet. I am also a service provider. 

The most valuable feature is that it has better throughput than its competitors. I also like the "routerless" feature. 

There has to be more development in the OS. It's complex for this switch as compared to others like Cisco. For NetGear and Cisco, it's easy to adapt the VLAN concept but it should be simplified for MikroTik.

I would like to see more integration abilities with NetGear.

I have been using this solution for more than five years. 

It is stable. 

I haven't contacted technical support. 

It was complex to set up. The concept is simple but it was complex to set up.

I have a technical background so I was able to do the implementation. It took a few days to get done.  

I would recommend this solution. I would rate it an eight out of ten. 

Familiar RouterOS support, port isolation, flexible VLAN handling (tagging, untagging, rewriting, etc.).

Port isolation is great for shared networks where you want to keep it safe by not lettings people fake DHCP server.

Proper LACP support, more software support for hardware capabilities, true wirespeed Layer 3 routing.

Doing this the old RouterOS way is straightforward, but it is not wirespeed then! So you need to learn some things in order to get the benefits, but it is worth it.

No.

Missing 9k jumbo frames and 10GigE support on CRS125. This is present on CRS2xx series, but CPU is faster on CRS125.

Mikrotik RB250 and RB260 switches - only 5 ports and interfaces is usable, but it is not RouterOS!

Initial setup was easy, but it did not reveal all the good things it can offer.

MIkrotik CRS switches are basically metro switches so overkill for the less complex installations.
