Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The data protection functionality is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The backup is the most valuable feature. It also makes storage very easy.""The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication.""The most valuable feature is the duplication."

"The solution is very scalable.""Installing this solution is very simple and takes perhaps five or ten minutes.""If you use the NetBackup Appliance you do not need to have separate media servers and hardware. You can configure the same storage as a media server and master server as well as a storage port. This helps to reduce the hardware costs of the media server.""The most valuable feature of this solution is that it can be used in many different kinds of systems.""The intelligent policies feature is used in order to protect the VMware infrastructure. One of the things that makes a big difference for our company is the usage of these intelligence policies. The system automatically provides extra protection for any VMware server application or service. From a backup administrator's point of view, this is what we call peace of mind. It reduces the workload and therefore reduces resources needed from the company.""They are a large company with good best practices, and they give good support.""We rarely need their help. I would give their technical support an 8.5 out of ten. We are satisfied.""Compared to a homemade installation, this appliance is very stable."

Cons
"It should be easier to switch between backup locations. We have multiple data storage locations and sometimes one of those storages need to be replaced. It would be nice if they made it easier to reconfigure the backup configuration.""The only problem with the solution is that when I change the drive capacity, it has to do a full backup. It's a problem when I have five servers to backup. When I only want to change the size of the drive, I have to do a full backup that can take one week.""In the most recent version of premium plus the replication has been removed, and it should re-added to the solution.""Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue."

"They could simplify the process of installing, and provide more space for data during the process.""I would like the ability to recover a single folder within the backup of a virtual machine.""With technical support, it feels like they aren't well trained and it takes forever to get answers out of them.""Technical support for this solution needs to be improved.""The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic.""I would like to see a product that requires less expertise to manage it.""They need to make the licensing more clear. They should give all of the licensing details for the portals and be more clear. I have accidentally purchased the incorrect license because it's not clear.""The scalability isn't great. Every time you want to add storage, you can't just add a little bit, you need to add a lot."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP.""Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options.""The price of this product is high and it should be lower."

"The licensing costs for this solution are very high.""The licensing costs are approximately 150,00 Saudi Riyals.""The price of this solution is very high compared to other solutions.""It costs more to license support for this solution, compared to others.""Appliances do not come cheaply.""Overall, Veritas is a good solution; the problem is the cost."
