Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"IFS has been completely rebuilt, modernized, and cloud-based so we don't need bulky software installations.""There tends not to be a massive weakness in the product itself, as weaknesses can quickly be resolved in the next patch or the next release.""IFS Applications is an all-in-one solution for finance, accounting, and production.""When it comes to financing, the solution has helped us to concentrate finance functions like accounting processes in one system. This includes about 70 internal entities around the world.""The most valuable feature is the distribution module.""All the modules are valuable in their own right, but everything has to go through the ERP. IFS has done an excellent job integrating the various modules to complete these processes. My expertise is in the finance module, but I have used the other verticals. It's an all-around good product.""The product is quite flexible.""Having a young talented programmer, during the six years of use, we were able to save around 75 000 EUR preparing simple modifications using customization rather than ordering them in IFS / Partner."

"Service Manager's best features are flexibility and customizability.""The solution will streamline productivity and also improve automation. That would bring efficiency as well the ability to handle a big number of enterprise-wide service needs. Productivity and collaborative capabilities are some of the key benefits.""Sometimes, customization is simple. The version we are using now has a nice interface.""It helps to register things, to see the changing parts, and to correlate incidents.""It's mostly so reliable and has a lot of functionality. We're using a lot of HPE tools and we can do a lot with it. So, its functionality is the most valuable feature.""Service Manager gives us a single system where everything is centralized in one base.""It's pretty well-structured in modules.""Micro Focus Service Manager is fine. It's a good solution for small accounts with minimal reporting. Micro Focus is a good option because you don't have to worry about the budget."

Cons
"It would be ideal if, in the future, the product could incorporate IoT and blockchain elements. We'd like to explore more of these types of features going forward.""The solution needs to improve its documentation and user-friendliness.""An area for improvement would be transactions, which can be tedious to complete as the process is very complex.""There were initial difficulties when I started using the application.""Ability to place approval check-points in the custom workflow, so clients can decide what they want it.""The support provided by IFS Applications has room for improvement. I'm based in Poland, and when my company had an issue, finding people from IFS to give my company the support it needed was difficult.""The user interface can be improved. When you're clicking through the screens, there are some icons or symbols that really need updating and would be more useful and noticeable if they are aesthetically pleasing.""Sometimes from the sales perspective, clients don't always fully understand how large a task or a project they're getting involved in when they decide, "We're going to switch across to IFS." They could probably do a little bit more, maybe around preparing people for these projects."

More IFS Cloud Platform Cons →

"Their end-user interface and technical support features could be improved.""There's a lot of manual work, which is error prone and time consuming, in how the code gets transported from one system to the other.""Service Manager would be improved with access to automation.""We aren't able to take emails that come in and turn them into tickets, especially when it comes to attachments. When an email has an attachment, like a screenshot, it is a very cumbersome process, and it does not work very well. I shouldn't have been paying technicians to cut and paste attachments from an email into the ticketing system. It should do that automatically. Other solutions are able to do that. This is something that needs to be improved. Test manager and knowledge management areas are probably amongst the worst parts of this solution. We try to use this solution for knowledge management, but it is not user-friendly. Therefore, it has limited ROI as you need to spend time to try and fully capitalize on the knowledge management system.""I think the best recommendation to Micro Focus would be to increase awareness and the marketing for this product.""Pure cloud-based native functionality is lacking.""I don't see anything lacking.""I think one area which is the most painful from my point of view is if you need to integrate a lot of the tools, and being able to make that a lot more seamless."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is better to buy implementation services from IFS than from partners"
  • "Licensing is on an annual basis, with no additional costs."
  • "Ask for all-inclusive pricing, as they are pretty flexible if you ask for custom models."
  • "Pricing is an area that could be improved. They could be more competitive."
  • "IFS Applications is expensive software, but it's on par with SAP and Oracle. It's for large enterprises and government entities and not for small and medium-sized enterprises. They have one licensing model, but if you want to have a module-specific license, they provide component-based licenses. Unlike SAP and Oracle, it doesn't have different levels of licensing. It's one level of licensing."
  • "There's an additional yearly cost for support."
  • "There are varying license levels that you can purchase."
  • "IFS Applications are competitive in terms of pricing compared to other vendors, such as SAP, Oracle, and Epicor. They are generally cheaper, especially for licensing costs."

  • "I would say that identify your requirements and pay for the support to implement and test those requirements, and then hope that you did a good job because the cost of their service is fairly expensive."
  • "Micro Focus Service Manager is a little cheaper than other options. You have to pay a monthly subscription fee."
  • "The license is not cheap."
  • "I pay for Service Manager on a yearly basis, and the price is reasonable - I would rate it five out of ten."
  • "HP Service Manager has moderate pricing."
