Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Primary valuable features are its flexibility and versatility and, obviously, functionality goes along with that. Plus, it does that at a small footprint in the file servers, and does it very efficiently.""I think it's flexible. I chose this solution because, even though it wasn't out-of-the-box, you can customize it, and the long-term growth potential of the software is where I see the value.""All staff can now see their relevant scorecards online.""The most valuable features are the reporting and the charts. The reporting functionality is handy for aggregation, when it comes to planning. That ability is fascinating and our users are very happy with it. The charts and the reporting allow our users to see all the data and to see how things are going this year or in the COVID situation. They're seeing everything. Instead of having to check data line by line, they're seeing it in a graph and they're seeing it in charts.""A lot of flexibility from the data modeling standpoint. It can add specific line items into our budget, for example, or if we want to make changes to the data model itself, we have that flexibility.""It is easy to make quick updates. As the business changes, we can maintain the tool without programming help from IT.""BOARD technical support is knowledgeable and helpful.""We have better reporting and have been able to better track performance."

"Associative model - no more cubes.""Easy to analyze data by click-through.""On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL.""Once you open it up, you see everything that you can do.""This is a very cool application with endless options of creativity and visuals.""You can switch views easily.""The product’s most valuable feature is its ability to view the entire data available for analysis.""It is useful to use a tool like this to have a view of data at a point in time. You can extract and create little data sets that you can store, and then over time, you can have a view for tracking changes. Especially when you work with a relational database or a database that's a production database, the data is dynamic, but if you use QlikView, you can take a snapshot of different datasets. In your own time, you can then get insights and report, build, analyze, and draw whatever you need from the data, which is quite useful."

Cons
"If we could upload other data, e.g., pivot tables which can be done in BOARD already, that we have pre-existing and have that data distribute to more complex spreadsheets, I would like that going forward.""It would be huge in the future if BOARD offered a lot more graphs and presentations, and it was a lot easier to use.""The setup was a bit complex.""The engine of the Board should be made powerful like the engine of IBM planning which is more powerful in terms of performance. The consolidated finance area also needs improvement.""We would like to see better logging in the procedural world.""We are looking at ways to improve how we deal with security in BOARD and other similar things. ""Building similar models entirely from scratch could be made quicker with transfer abilities between databases and capsules.""Some of our users are still using an MS Office add-in for Excel for certain calculations, and when they export from Board, some of the values, some of the totals and column names, are not coming through into Excel."

More Board Cons →

"There is a lack of static PDF report generation and automatic resizing of the dashboard to fit the device.""The only thing I would improve about it is the fact that it refreshes all the time, and when it does that, it just deletes all the options you had, all the filters that you had selected, so you need to select them from the beginning.""Needs improvement with UI transparency.""For me, it is important to have a mix, what is the "view" and what is the "sense", Qlik Sense. They have two tools, but for me it is important to have only one tool, which combines the functions that we have from one side and the other side.""There's room for improvement in the area of management's handling of concerns.""The solution is quite costly.""I would want them to have more options as a user. It would be nice for them to create their own dashboards and add fields.""I would like to see more advanced features from Qlik Sense integrated into QlikView to keep it competitive and up-to-date."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Find a partner who will take responsibility for the implementation, and be available for support."
  • "In terms of the pricing, it was reasonable. BOARD is not the lowest in the market, but it was reasonable for us."
  • "It is not the cheapest product on earth, but you get so much. It provides good value for money."
  • "The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."
  • More Board Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing is a bit too high and I think licenses should be unlimited."
  • "QlikView pricing and licensing is on the high side for a small sized company, but it's competitive among its peers."
  • "Qlik is fairly high in terms of pricing."
  • "The pricing is too high compared to the other solutions on the market."
  • "It is not very expensive. I think it it is on par with other similar products on the market."
  • "The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."
  • "It has an annual license. It is expensive as compared to other competitive tools that do more for less. In South African rands, we pay about 100,000 to 200,000 a year."
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one being low price and ten being high price, I rate pricing a four."
