Pros
The Spectrum tool improved our network assurance levels for our business units. All networks (or network equipment) are monitored through CA Spectrum. It is easy to understand and determine when and/or where the network is failing. The monitoring just comes to us: "Oh, there's something wrong with that machine." It tells us. There are some 50,000 machines or so, all doing different things. And if they go down we hear about it.

The flexibility and the ease in which the features can be expanded are the solution's most valuable aspects.Cisco UCS Manager is overall a good package because it gives a GUI interface and a CLI.Technical support has been good so far. We haven't had any issues with them. We're satisfied with the level of service they provide our company. The reporting functionality will give you any report you want.Ease of management is certainly the most valuable feature in this product. The most valuable features are flexibility and management. The management is one of the most valuable features of this solution.Cisco Infrastructure is one of the top vendors and no one can beat them in terms of switching and routing.

Cons
The CA Technologies sales team destroyed their relationship with our business units. It needs better integration with other CA products.OS monitoring needs to be better developed, as well as their services, e.g., cluster monitoring, URLs, etc.Make it easier to certify devices. If they could interact with the MIBs of vendors better, and have a lot more pre-loaded ones, that would be amazing for us right now.

The automation within the solution needs to be simplified.Cisco UCS Manager is not a scalable solution because once you have 160 blades, it cannot be expanded more. The interface and the way it is constructed is very complex. They should work to simplify it. It's quite difficult for somebody who doesn't know the product very well. Users should be able to get proficient with it faster. There's definitely room for improvement there.I would like to see Cisco UCS optionally work as a hyper-converged system because right now, it only operates as a converged system.Upgrading the firmware is a difficult procedure. We have three data centers and if we could manage all three data centers using one interface, it would be great. The pricing can be better. In the next release, I would like to see improvements made to their security.
