Pros | |
The most valuable feature in Centrify is the ability to authenticate in a Linux environment, because this is what my customers were looking for. They are coming from a Linux environment, so they appreciate the identity and access management for allowing Linux workloads to authenticate securely. | Automating the refresh of the devices is huge for both sides of the end-user experience. The Self Service feature, which allows us to make apps available to our staff and students was essential. The design of the GUI, as compared to other solutions, really makes a difference. Policies are a great feature that allows us to push certain restrictions to devices that require them, such as the younger generation of students we have. The features that have been the most life-saving for us are pre-stage enrollments and self-service. The full API lets us write custom scripts and apps to enhance even further the end-user experience. The most valuable feature is the ability to manage all devices through Apple's DEP and forcing them into Jamf pre-stage enrollment. It's a great way to keep track of all of our licenses and the software we use daily. |
Cons | |
What can be improved in Centrify is the integration between the on-premise environment, specifically for Linux environments with the cloud infrastructure, such as Microsoft as it was during my time as a solution architect. | Some improvement can be made in the customer service realm, while also making additional training level courses available for online study and exam-taking. I would like to be able to see what policies and configuration profiles are tied to what Smart/Static groups. I would love to see an integrated ticketing system built-in, better reporting templates to help analyze the data (software usage, etc.), and integration with FREE SSL Cert (letsencrypt.org) with auto-renewal. An in-house chat room would be a great way to communicate with your team when you aren't physically present with them. The ability to ask a device to run a policy regularly would be a real advantage. A more modern UI in the next release will make the product absolutely perfect. I wish there was a profile that could be created for configuring Apple software updates on a global basis for our devices, via a configuration profile. There is still no feature for properly patching T2 Security Chip-enabled Macs. |
Pricing and Cost Advice | |
Information Not Available | Licensing cost is dependent on the footprint and foreseen growth. Setup and licensing prices are getting to be too high. The setup is pricey upfront for support and setup. The total ROI is worth every penny. With respect to pricing, Jamf Pro is the better bet. If you have the in-house capability to support Jamf, then paying for onboarding / JumpStart training is a no brainer. The cost of this solution is expensive but worth it. JumpStart looks a little bit pricey; however, it is worth every penny. |
