Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We use a part of the solution called Acquia. The personalization portion of this is the most valuable aspect fo the solution.""The feature I find most valuable is that Drupal is a framework and not only a CMS.""It is good for big projects.""You can build websites on it very quickly."

More Drupal Pros →

"It's very stable.""It is very easy to deploy.""The solution is quite intuitive and easy to use.""The technical support is outstanding.""There's a lot there in terms of apps and features.""If you have a global solution, you can go from one product to the other very easily. And then you can share data between all the different tools of Office which is good because participation and sharing is very good. That's the most important aspect of Office 365.""The most valuable feature is the integration between net and mobile devices.""It is stable."

Cons
"I think the support needs to improve, as well as the integration with tracking and analytics systems.""Digital experience features like target, segmentation, and campaign management have a long way to go.""The user experience in designing layouts should be much easier or much more helpful.""It is a little bit simplified."

More Drupal Cons →

"There are several additional features we would like to see, such as advanced features of SAN protection in Office 365. The main thing is the SAN protection; we would like to see a lot of advanced features added because we had a lot of spam attacks.""The feature to convert PDF file to a Word document needs improvement as well as the feature to save the file automatically when typing, without using the save command.""Integration between Outlook calendar and Google Calendar would be a good improvement since many of our team use Android phones and personal Gmail accounts as their main calendar application.""Improvements can be made to the products generic offering. It's not customized for health care. It doesn't understand the meaning of health care related concepts. Providing a greater degree of industry specificity would make the tool much more unique and valuable.""As a private user, I do not appreciate the cloud features, but I doubt that this is something Microsoft would consider a feature request.""The integration with mobile services is not so good. It's coming, but they could improve a lot.""I would like to see better integration with Teams, and better usability with SharePoint.""Normally, they have a way to work with specific developments, and I think they shouldn't allow the partners to make some changes they have made. When I have a client with a lot of changes, we have a problem with that because there aren't rules to develop inside the ERP, so you can do anything."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
