We performed a comparison between ESET Endpoint Protection Platform and ThreatLocker Protect based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"The most valuable feature in ESET Endpoint Security is the game mode to restrict notifications."
"We do not have a domain structure yet but we can manage our client stations via this solution's managing interface. This means that we don't need to have any extra management platforms."
"The stability is great."
"I rate ESET Endpoint Security eight out of 10 for ease of setup. Setting up ESET can be straightforward or complicated depending on the customer's environment. The deployment time varies, but it's typically around five days. We have a team of four or five people involved in the deployment. Only one person is needed for maintenance. The only maintenance is adjusting the configuration of the dashboard."
"The solution is stable."
"The software and hardware inventory that you can create by using the console is valuable. It is also very light on hardware resources."
"The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Security performance."
"It's scalable."
"Feature-wise, the learning mode and the fact that it's blocking everything are the most valuable. I don't see why more companies don't use the type of product."
"The most valuable feature is selective elevation, which allows elevating an individual process to admin privilege without granting admin privilege to that user, which has been by far the most useful feature outside of the overall solution itself."
"The biggest improvement has been knowing that something unauthorized isn't going to get installed on anyone’s machines."
"We use ThreatLocker's Allowlisting to whitelist specific applications and prevent unauthorized software from running."
"ThreatLocker Allowlisting has all of these features integrated into one console, making it effective."
"Application control, ring-fencing, and storage control are the most important features, followed closely by elevation."
"The sandbox functionality is fantastic."
"While it can be frustrating at times, we appreciate the low-level security provided by the application whitelist."
"The solution is not stable."
"There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors."
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR."
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments."
"Detections could be improved."
"ESET Endpoint Security could improve EDR integration."
"In terms of areas for improvement, I didn't see any from ESET Endpoint Security because what's important is that it works as an antivirus solution. I do find its pricing expensive here in Hungary, so if the price could be lower, that would be good. ESET Endpoint Security is an antivirus, so it only needs to stop the virus. If it had other features, I wouldn't need it. Every program or solution has specific functions and in this case, ESET Endpoint Security is worth it as an antivirus, though in the next release of the solution, it would be better if there's some improvement in its antivirus database."
"I've had a few other instances where the program stops running, and then you have to restore and reset it."
"It's not a huge thing, because it doesn't happen very often, but I'll notice sometimes, when there's a startup scan, the computer does bog down a little bit. However, this happens rarely."
"The update process can be improved, and there could be an automatic update process when a new version comes out. For system updates or program updates, there could be more automation."
"The stability needs to be improved. There are bugs that you have to deal with."
"Everything has some kind of room for improvement."
"They could be more aggressive with malware."
"One area I see for improvement is in the visibility of support tickets within the ThreatLocker ticketing system."
"The portal can be a little overwhelming at times from an administration point of view. It displays a lot of information, and it's all useful. However, sometimes there is too much on the screen to sift through, especially if you're trying to diagnose a client's problem with a piece of software. Maybe something has stopped working since they updated it, and we need to see if ThreatLocker is blocking a component of that software."
"Adding applications to the allowlist can sometimes feel overwhelming."
"From a reporting perspective, enhancing the ability to customize reports would be beneficial."
"More visibility in the built-ins would be nice."
"There are some times when applications get submitted, the hashes don't really line up."
"The reporting could be improved."
"The snapshots used in the ThreatLocker University portal are outdated snippets and have not been updated in conjunction with the portal itself."
