We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We've found it to be stable and good for our customers.""Web proxy adds an effective layer for security.""The implementation is pretty easy.""Cisco Umbrella is a totally different solution. They are the first to come up with this idea of security. It's a totally new concept of security for everybody, for every time, real time, perfectionism.""The most valuable feature is the ability to block users from reaching places that they should not even try to reach has been a boon.""Its simplicity is most valuable. I can install it and get it up and running, and it can be pervasive across my business within a business day. It is pretty simple and straightforward to install and configure. Its remit is reasonably clearly defined. When you look at solutions like Darktrace and Carbon Black, the mission objective isn't as clearly defined. Cisco Umbrella, Sophos Central, or some of the other solutions have a more standardized approach to antivirus, which includes enhanced response from the machine learning or deep learning perspective.""Cisco Umbrella is such a solution and can be implemented very fast and easy. All that we must do is redirect the DNS registers in their routers, or the active directory service of the enterprise that are going to use in Umbrella services. If you buy the service now, in two hours you are protected by the service because it's very fast to put in service.""The most valuable feature is the website protection capabilities because it prevents end-users from entering bad sites that potentially have malware or could be used for phishing."

"When it comes to helping to detect DNS threats, BloxOne is good on all fronts. The number of false positives is very low, close to none. More than once it has detected new names or lookalike names and protected us and saved us from bad characters.""Our ability to detect data exfiltration was minimal before Infoblox and the cloud portal was instituted for us. In terms of DNS security as a whole, we had some capability with our firewalls, but this is a lot more specialized because we're sending all of our DNS requests to Infoblox. I'd say we improved 100%.""Using the reporting, we can tell that we have gained an extra layer of protection. Just by looking at it, we can see what is being blocked before it even makes it to the firewall. It is definitely working.""Infoblox has helped us improve in the way that we look at data as it comes in and out. We monitor and manage queries from every device that sits inside our company, e.g., every user, every laptop, and every query. When you type something into the web, Infoblox will scan or manage that. If it is going somewhere bad, then it will block them. From a metrics perspective, it gives us data, letting us go back and find those impacted or infected clients to either clean their devices or remove them from the network.""BloxOne provides automatic sharing of network context data, which affects our speed of threat response and provide real-time threat intelligence. Our security operations needs this to do their work. It makes us feel safer.""The dossier feature is perfect for starting an investigation.""The reporting ability is helpful. It allows us to control what our users are able to resolve, and then be able to see reports on that.""The automatic blocklists are most valuable. A box can maintain several lists from which we can choose if we need to block more or less. We don't have to manually manage the lists ourselves. They're automatically updated."

"When compared with other products, Webroot DNS Protection is the best to secure the end users.""The installation is easy and doesn't take long. The program speedy and doesn't crash. It doesn't consume computer hardware or software.""The dashboard of the solution is a valuable feature.""Almost everyone who uses it is happy about the product. I don't get any types of complaints from my clients."

Cons
"The reporting could be improved by way of the information that's displayed. For example, when you pull a report, it shows an internal employee going to many websites, but you can spin that right down by saying a lot of it is being cached.""The pricing could always be a little bit better.""One of the issues with Umbrella is as you get into endpoint detection and response, such as EDR point solutions, some of them will not integrate well with Umbrella. Sometimes when you want to use technology, such as Always On VPN, it will not work. There are some looming issues as one type of technology starts to crossover with Umbrella. That is the challenge and Umbrella should find a way to be more compatible with some of the endpoint response solutions that are coming out on the market.""User interface could be a little smoother and more intuitive.""The pricing is a bit high. Being outside of the USA, we have issues with the exchange rate.""It should have a real-time malware classification engine. It should check the malware on the website. It would be good if it had a real-time malware check for the websites because currently, it just compares the DNS queries of the blacklist. It should also have malware control over file execution and the types of files that the users are allowed to download.""I would like to see more integration between Cisco Umbrella and Cisco DNA Center.""It should have more integrations with multiple end user OEMs."

More Cisco Umbrella Cons »

"The research side and the reporting side need improvement. Both of those are items on the menu. They could use a little bit of cleanup to make their respective information more easily understood.""A lot of their documentation needs improvement.""The integration of threat intelligence with other solutions is challenging. If I want to expose threat intelligence, I cannot do it via taxi services. I have to call the API, but the customers are not into creating the APIs. The integration of embedded threat intelligence with other platforms should be better. Infoblox should work on this, and it should be easier for the end user to integrate it. It is very easy to deploy this solution. We should be able to integrate it with other platforms, such as the Next-Generation Firewall, with the same ease.""They could work on the UI of their website and make their website more user-friendly.""This is not just Infoblox, this could be any portal provider, cloud provider, sometimes they change the look of the customer-facing options and it's not completely clear why they make the change.""The onboarding is a little rough at times, and you need to have some information at hand. It is pretty good, but it would be useful to have a few good examples to set up things like data exfiltration.""The documentation needs to be improved because there are a lot of different models that it can be deployed in, and it's somewhat confusing determining what you need and how to set it up to best cover your use cases.""Within the past two years, we discovered certain bugs in their products. The resolution of these bugs took a little too much time, especially if our production environment is down for a certain amount of time, then we are losing money. That is hard to convey to Infoblox support, e.g., we actually need the system up and running again within two or three hours. The awareness of these so-called production down incidents is not really easy to convey."

"If the solution could integrate with FortiGate where there would only be a need of one dashboard instead of having to set policies on our firewall and our DNS, this would be helpful.""Reporting is not done in real-time. Rather, it is done in 15-minute intervales. This is something that should be configurable by the admin.""It needs to be more secure for production environments.""The reporting system needs improvement. They should make is that we can customize it so we can add, remove or change its interface but they use a template. The reports cannot be changed."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Cisco uses subscription models for the pricing and there are three subscription plans.""I think it's worth the money.""Cisco Umbrella is expensive and could be cheaper.""The price could be lower.""There is a subscription cost.""The price of Cisco Umbrella is a little higher than similar solutions, like Gateway.""The price is quite good.""Pricing depends on the automation requirements of the organization."

"It is a very expensive system. You need to go over the licensing before purchase to make sure you're getting what is needed, not anything extra.""Infoblox BloxOne offers pretty good documentation. Check its documentation, then do a PoC. Infoblox is very good at providing PoCs.""There is a significant charge for this product but I think that it's worth it when we look at what it's able to prevent.""When you buy the subscription, there are no additional costs to add any additional buttons.""If you only wanted the DNS filtering and none of the other products built into Threat Defense, it would be nicer if they could do that a la carte since we are not really using a lot of the solution."
