Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"This solution has allowed us to become a top-class competitor among other consulting companies.""It's user-friendly, also the MTDI cube is a very good approach, as it helps you to use the pre-format instead of using the standard objects from the schema of MicroStrategy.""This solution is the most scalable BI platform in the world.""The solution has excellent features available on mobile.""The technical support is quite good.""I haven't come across any bugs.""The dashboard features and functionalities that come through the MicroStrategy Suite are the most valuable. It can be used by end users with minimum knowledge of the product. They can run a report or create a dashboard on their phones, which is kind of cool.""It is very stable."

"The new Application Design option offers lots of customization options by being able to script in Typescript (similar to Javascript).""All of the modules that we used to have separately in our on-premises solution are now integrated into one platform.""The Smart Predict, Smart Insights, and Smart Discovery predictive analysis features are quite good.""The most valuable features are the visualization and user-friendliness.""The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. We haven't tried all of the features yet. The graphing and the ease of using the analytics tools have been great. It's all drag and drop; you don't need to code anything.""Provides rich features for developing automated reports and dashboards.""The user interface is quite good for developing reports out of models.""Planning is the most valuable feature of the product because it's integrated and that means we don't need to rely on an independent planning environment."

Cons
"I would like to see a single standalone application to control everything from the administration perspective, and also to develop new applications.""In the developer, there are things that you able to do in a document or a report that you are not able to do in the Dossier.""They need to do a better job In its ability to allow end users to produce their own reports, metrics, and self-service business intelligence.""The solution lacks good visualization. They should work on the user interface to make it more slick and modern.""The solution's reports are not very flexible.""They should provide more tutorials and include some project files.""It crashes multiple times for even small changes that I make on the fly in the dashboard. After doing all the necessary changes, the MicroStrategy desktop or even the web version kicks the users out, and all the changes are lost. This functionality is buggy in MicroStrategy. It is hard to keep track of all the changes that I have done before. I don't want to make copies of each change that I have made because I would end up creating a hundred dashboards. It is not feasible in a real environment. I haven't worked on integrating MicroStrategy with the cloud. I am not sure how it behaves in the cloud, but I have heard from a few of my friends that there are some hiccups when you kind of sync to the cloud through MicroStrategy.""They should give proper industry-based tutorials so that one can learn it easily and implement it based on the requirements. They should give more MMP files so that we can import a whole project altogether and learn from that project."

"There should be more features for the time series charts.""I would like to see reporting to the Analytics cloud directly.""Some of the standard visualizations, such as a speedometer or a goal chart, are not there and should be added.""We are currently working on connectivity with S/4HANA, but we would like to have better connectivity with our legacy systems.""Statistical analysis should be a bit more profound than it is.""SAP Analytics cloud needs better exporting options.""There is no direct connector from SAP to Redshift, so we are required to use a third-party product that was recommended by SAP.""When it comes to planning there is a concern about the ability to match the exact requirements of the customer with what the product offers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"We have a license with packages, and there are additional costs for extra components.""We have one of the best pricing available, but we can't disclose that information.""The pricing is fair.""They can improve its licensing. It is a bit expensive as compared to Microsoft and other tools.""They offer yearly as well as perpetual licenses."

More MicroStrategy Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It is a bit expensive, but really worth it, especially if you are already using other SAP tools.""It is not the most expensive one. You have to do the cost-of-ownership analysis and take a lot of things into consideration to come up with the conclusion that it is cheaper or not, but its price is reasonable. It provides value for money.""It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
