We performed a comparison between HPE Nimble Storage and VIOLIN QV2020 based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage and others in All-Flash Storage."Our storage phones home. It is smart and intelligent in that aspect, which has been huge for us. We don't have to be storage administrators."
"It is an easy to use product for all of my team members."
"Simplicity and reliability are the most valuable feature of Pure Storage FlashArray."
"Redundancy and the fault tolerance of the platform are the most impressive."
"It allows engineers to focus on other things rather than doing the more manual tasks. It automates tasks, so the ease of use is extreme. It simplifies the storage."
"The most valuable feature is it never goes down. We can expand and create volumes."
"The most valuable features of Pure Storage FlashArray are management and administration user-friendliness, provisioning, and performance."
"The most valuable features of Pure Storage FlashArray are simplicity, ease of use, and dashboard management."
"We have found the advantage of it is the easy, rapid setup, but also that it is very easy to manage."
"The deployment is fast."
"In the 20 days that we have been using this solution, it has been stable."
"We have seen our average latency go from four milliseconds to point four. Therefore, we are getting 10 times better performance down to the end user on everything. We have seen an increase in our IOPS by ten times."
"Some of the beneficial features I have found are the Block-level backups, the interface is easy to use, backups work well and the portal is functional."
"Deduplication and compression."
"We use a platform as a service and have multiple application vendors who comprise that platform. There are moments when those application vendors put the blame on us. By working in InfoSight, I am able to say, "No, it is not us." I can actually provide proof, either by using screenshots or through reporting."
"Nimble Storage is a great storage solution which will give you a lot insight on the growth of your storage."
"VIOLIN QV2020 is the latest in terms of performance. It has high-speed data access and processing capabilities, distinguishing it as a leader in its storage solutions category."
"It’s simple to use hardware to fix performance issues. Our issue is poor coding/queries. This greatly speeded things up. It’s too costly to track down poor programming in applications. The price of a developer’s time to scan through all the coding is high compared to buying Violin."
"I can't see where they can make anything better, unless, of course, they lower their prices even more."
"Pure Storage support could be a little better."
"We would like more extended historical data to help with some of the capacity planning. This is something that we are asking for all the time. E.g., what was the historical performance of this particular volume? So, we would like more historicals."
"I would love for them to have a hyper-converged solution."
"We would like to see better troubleshooting aspects. It helps us if we can find out where the problem is. Right now, it's difficult. Sometimes it's difficult to pinpoint the issue. If they had more visibility and more troubleshooting feature built into the tool that would really help."
"The file functionality could be better."
"The time-to-market could be better at times, but I think that's true for all vendors of hardware."
"Currently, the solution fails to support file screening."
"We are doing a hybrid and are moving some machines to Microsoft Azure to run in hybrid mode. We are checking the availability of extra software-defined storage so that we can configure it."
"Pure Storages have some option, which allows us the ability to directly download that host inventory and volume report. We can receive everything directly generated from the storage itself. We do not need to use some other web browser or something. If HPE Nimble Storage could do the same it would be a benefit."
"There is a new version of the Nimble and 3PAR systems called Alletra and they have a lot of new features."
"Its pricing could be better. It's expensive."
"HPE does not have suffficient storage."
"We would like there to be more enhanced features."
"The quality of technical support depends on which member of the support team you speak with."
"The most difficult part about Nimble was the fact that it didn't have a standard length."
"I set up Wi-Fi for storage, and since then, we haven't experienced any interruptions in service."
"VIMM replacement is poorly designed. You have to slide out an entire drawer, remove the cover and then pop out the failed VIMM. I would like to see a front replacement just like with hard disks. This leaves room for error; for example, when you slide it out from the rack, you are moving cables along the cable management arm. This leaves the possibility of accidentally unplugging a cable from the array if it is not seated properly. Also, you might pinch the cables when sliding it back into the server rack."
