We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Data preparation is fantastic and fast. We were able to use multiple data sources and prepare the data quickly.""The best feature may be data flow, which is used to prepare and clean data.""It's really an enterprise solution. It has a dashboard, like standard dashboarding functionality. It also has reporting capabilities for producing pixel-perfect reports, bursting large volumes of a document if you need to. It has interactive data discovery functionality, which you would use to explore your data, bring your own data, and merge it with maybe the data from an enterprise data warehouse to get new insights from the pre-existing data. It has machine learning embedded in the solution. If you're new to machine learning, it's a really good way to get into it, because it's all within this platform, and it's really easy to use.""The features that I find to be the most valuable are the BAS (Business Analytics), the Narrate feature, and the auto-visualization.""The AI/ML enablement is useful, as many reporting tools do not offer machine learning models as of now, without writing customized code.""The product is easily customized."

"It is solid and stable.""The common metadata environment means that the entire organisation has the same definition of core measures rather than these being derived in spreadsheets or specific reports.""The solution's user security is extremely effective. You can profile very well. All the users and all the functionality is protected and that includes information and data segregation.""It provides flexibility for creating reports. It is very good for creating highly-complex reports. I like this solution because when I buy BusinessObjects, it comes with many components, such as reporting, dashboard, and data visualization tools. Its performance is good. It is running on top of SAP BW and SAP HANA.""It is stable and robust. It has pretty direct integration with SAP ERP. It is easy to use.""The setup is pretty easy. It's not hard at all.""If I were to compare it with Power BI and I wanted to build proper well-formatted reports, BusinessObjects Business Intelligence does that much better. Power BI is just getting into that space. They've concentrated more on visualization, which is what the SAP Lumira does. With Web Intelligence, you are able to build reports that users can interact with. They can also do a lot of querying themselves. It is robust in terms of security and integration. It is also quite scalable."

Cons
"One area of improvement is associated with more connectors needing to be added such as Microsoft OneDrive, Teradata and a few others. I think the list is limited to the top ones now.""The product should be improved in terms of connectors; right now the top twenty connectors are available, but OneDrive and Teradata are missing.""As with most BI tools, the visualizations can be made much nicer. Currently, it has standard visualizations. They've been adding new visualizations, but we see animated visualizations from other vendors. It would be nice to have similar visualizations, such as the swarming visualizations, which are fairly new and very popular at the moment. I haven't seen that with Oracle. That would be nice.""Sharing dataflows is not possible at this time, and the custom chart functionality is not available.""At this time, dataflows cannot be shared, but I think that this should be enhanced.""The interfaces could be improved and some in-memory operations could be built in."

"Over the years, the product tends to rename and rebrand itself and change its direction. This is a deficit of the solution.""This solution is complex to configure and administer.""The self-service area, or dashboard, needs some improvement. While the reporting itself is great, the dashboard and Analytics Cloud are not user friendly.""Its data visualization tool is not as good as Power BI and Tableau. Currently, for data visualization, you need to spend more money to buy another solution such as Power BI or Tableau. It is also very hard to integrate it with other third-party solutions. Its integration with other solutions should be improved.""Its price should be better. It is expensive and not cost-effective. It should also be improved in terms of end-user experience. It requires further improvements for usability and ease of use. It should have more dashboarding metrics and much faster integration with ERP so that when you double click, you can instantly see the scenario-based result.""The UI could be updated a bit.""I don't like the fact that I have to use two tools. Web Intelligence is good for reporting and all kinds of stuff, but I would rather have one product. All the reporting features of Web Intelligence should be developed within Lumira. A lot of predictive abilities have been brought into the cloud version of SAP Analytics. It would be nice to see a lot of newer technologies and AI. Predictive capabilities are becoming a little more standard. Instead of having to get another model, we are just looking for one solution to deal with analytics including predictive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Bottom line, the cost is really, really cheap compared to other solutions. Oracle has made a huge effort on the pricing.""The price is reasonable; it's quite a bit lower than Tableau and Spotfire."

"Its price is fair.""It is not cost-effective. It is expensive.""I have always found SAP BI to be expensive. It is expensive even when you compare SAP BI Cloud with Microsoft Power BI. Power BI is probably around $9.99 per month, and the cheapest SAP BI is around $20, which is double. In terms of price, Power BI is definitely a lot better. If you have budget issues, you may want to go for Power BI."
