We performed a comparison between Oracle GoldenGate and StreamSets based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."This is a powerful solution provided by one of the most respected companies in the computer industry."
"What I like most about Oracle GoldenGate is that it supports cross-platform migrations. For example, Oracle GoldenGate could pump data from one type of system to another such as the data from Oracle DB to SQL Db2."
"The replication of the data table is one of the best features."
"Data migration is the most valuable feature of Oracle GoldenGate."
"Since the world is going towards open source, the solution's heterogeneous data migration feature is very useful."
"It works best with Oracle."
"I am impressed with the tool's possibility of integrating different systems in a unified place."
"The product's microservice architecture is scalable."
"I have used Data Collector, Transformer, and Control Hub products from StreamSets. What I really like about these products is that they're very user-friendly. People who are not from a technological or core development background find it easy to get started and build data pipelines and connect to the databases. They would be comfortable like any technical person within a couple of weeks."
"The scheduling within the data engineering pipeline is very much appreciated, and it has a wide range of connectors for connecting to any data sources like SQL Server, AWS, Azure, etc. We have used it with Kafka, Hadoop, and Azure Data Factory Datasets. Connecting to these systems with StreamSets is very easy."
"It's very easy to integrate. It integrates with Snowflake, AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. It's very helpful for DevOps, DataOps, and data engineering because it provides a comprehensive solution, and it's not complicated."
"The ability to have a good bifurcation rate and fewer mistakes is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is the pipelines because they enable us to pull in and push out data from different sources and to manipulate and clean things up within them."
"The most valuable would be the GUI platform that I saw. I first saw it at a special session that StreamSets provided towards the end of the summer. I saw the way you set it up and how you have different processes going on with your data. The design experience seemed to be pretty straightforward to me in terms of how you drag and drop these nodes and connect them with arrows."
"In StreamSets, everything is in one place."
"Important features include that it comprises lots of functionality to connect data from various sources through connector availability, scheduling pipelines at any time, and integration with third-party and security solutions for encryption."
"The main problem of Oracle GoldenGate is that sometimes, the processes get abended. Data consistency is also challenging."
"The solution, in general, should be easier to use, with less need to perform workarounds within the system."
"The front-end management isn't very good."
"The solution costs a lot."
"Microservices Architecture is not user-friendly."
"The problem with GoldenGate is it is very complex to use. You need heavyweight skills to use it."
"Additional performance metrics should be added and visible in a dashboard, displayed in a detailed manner."
"A clean and user-friendly graphical interface based on common design principles would be beneficial."
"There aren't enough hands-on labs, and debugging is also an issue because it takes a lot of time. Logs are not that clear when you are debugging, and you can only select a single source for a pipeline."
"I would like to see further improvement in the UI. In addition, upgrades are not automatic and they should be automated. Currently, we have to manually upgrade versions."
"Currently, we can only use the query to read data from SAP HANA. What we would like to see, as soon as possible, is the ability to read from multiple tables from SAP HANA. That would be a really good thing that we could use immediately. For example, if you have 100 tables in SQL Server or Oracle, then you could just point it to the schema or the 100 tables and ingestion information. However, you can't do that in SAP HANA since StreamSets currently is lacking in this. They do not have a multi-table feature for SAP HANA. Therefore, a multi-table origin for SAP HANA would be helpful."
"If you use JDBC Lookup, for example, it generally takes a long time to process data."
"The execution engine could be improved. When I was at their session, they were using some obscure platform to run. There is a controller, which controls what happens on that, but you should be able to easily do this at any of the cloud services, such as Google Cloud. You shouldn't have any issues in terms of how to run it with their online development platform or design platform, basically their execution engine. There are issues with that."
"We create pipelines or jobs in StreamSets Control Hub. It is a great feature, but if there is a way to have a folder structure or organize the pipelines and jobs in Control Hub, it would be great. I submitted a ticket for this some time back."
"Using ETL pipelines is a bit complicated and requires some technical aid."
"The data collector in StreamSets has to be designed properly. For example, a simple database configuration with MySQL DB requires the MySQL Connector to be installed."
Oracle GoldenGate is ranked 6th in Data Integration with 47 reviews while StreamSets is ranked 8th in Data Integration with 24 reviews. Oracle GoldenGate is rated 8.2, while StreamSets is rated 8.4. The top reviewer of Oracle GoldenGate writes "Performs real-time replication without data loss, but we cannot do much automation".
