Pros
In terms of most valuable features, I would say the console which provides us an exciter to keep the laptops up-to-date, gives us alerts when devices are not up-to-date, and so on. I also like the reporting feature and the centralized panel. Some important features that are included are the built-in firewall and device control. Some of the features that were important were a built-in firewall and device control. It's good at detecting signature-based stuff and stopping that. This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease. The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus.The firewall, malware, and anti-virus protection have earned its keep in times past by catching the unexpected. The most amazing qualities of Symantec Endpoint Protection is that it provides a total solution to all virus problems.

The initial setup was straightforward and we didn't have any problem with it.In terms of valuable features, I would say its intrusion prevention. Each and every IP connecting to the server gets scanned so we know everyone who is accessing our server and we can block whichever IP's do not belong to us at the firewall. The most valuable feature is the virtual patching. The vulnerability scanning reduces false positives by quite a bit.The most valuable features are web security, email filtering, and content filtering. It has improved functions by bringing us complete security on our clients' virtual environment. It has a perfect SaaS which integrates with AWS, offering flexibility to deploy quickly and easily in the cloud.Deep Security enables us to bridge the gap between patching windows using the Virtual Patching feature. This allows us to make sure full patching is tested properly in our testing environments before rollout.

Cons
We had issues that we were never able to understand why they were happening. For example, clients were not getting their updates and we were never able to figure out why. What we did in such cases was reboot the machine and reinstall the software, and then it worked. But we were never able to figure out exactly why it stopped the updates. They are lacking the visibility that you get in a heuristical, next-generation AI product. They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus. It needs to die. In my opinion, Symantec was a really great security company, 10, 15 years ago. They went out, they bought all the great tools and then they never did anything with them. So they've just fallen behind and there's nothing that's going to work now to bring them back up the date that's going to regain user confidence. In the next release of this solution, I would like to see more to do with malware, encryption technology, and controlling mobile devices.I would like to see improvements in the anti-virus and the device control features.Managements' number one item on the "Wish List" would have to do with the real-time scan of external media inserted into any client. It is only available to use on computers with higher-end specs.

The situation with the currency in Turkey makes this solution a little bit on the expensive side, and if it were lowered then it would be more competitive. As for what could be improved, I think it should come with an XDR facility without any extra cost. They're always releasing new features, but we need to pay extra for them. When implementing this solution, sometimes we have challenges with SQL migration. The client can show as offline sometimes, and that becomes a bit difficult for troubleshooting. We end up basically redeploying the client. This is something that could be improved in the future. The support for email protection can be improved. It needs better global visibility of the virtual environment.I would like them to add EDR features, moving away from traditional signature-based anti-malware.The default reports provided don't provide much insight.

Pricing and Cost Advice
We pay our licensing fees on a yearly basis, and everything is included in that price. The pricing is a little bit more expensive than other competitors, if you compare it to Kaspersky, for example, or McAfee. The problem is Symantec is more expensive than other vendors. We receive a discounted price for this solution because we are a non-profit organization.Compared to other products and brands here in Mexico, the price is okay, somewhere in the middle. Our solution is unique in that it can adapt to a variety of pricing and licensing constraints considering we have the corporate, government, and academic mandates. ThePricing and licensing for our country is very good. It's not that expensive and the endpoint security is very good. It's not as cheap as some others, but they are not as good.We pay on a yearly basis...Zero-day threat or advanced attacks should be part of the endpoint. The product should not require you to buy a separate license.

Some of our customers complain about the cost of this solution. The cost is approximately six thousand Qatari Riyal ($1650 USD) per user.Purchasing this solution through the AWS Marketplace was secure and quick. AWS has good prices for a good product. The training needs improvement. It is expensive (classroom training), and it is often hard to find answers by yourself using the documentation. The AWS licensing model is scalable and easy to use, but could do with tiered discounts. I am not sure how well this model will scale when we start to use Auto Scaling with AWS resources. We are an original partner with AWS, so a couple of customers chose to directly take it from AWS Marketplace. A couple of customers will want us to take care of the billing. So, it's a mixed type of reaction that we receive from the customer. The price is reasonably good as compared to other products into the market.Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace is like shopping on Amazon Prime.
