We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus.The firewall, malware, and anti-virus protection have earned its keep in times past by catching the unexpected. This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease. The most amazing qualities of Symantec Endpoint Protection is that it provides a total solution to all virus problems. The solution is completely scalable. The solution is very stable. The features I find the most valuable are the protection, the encryption, and the DLP.I like the firewall and the intrusion prevention features, and just the basic anti-malware and anti-virus seems to be pretty effective as well.

It is excellent endpoint protection for mobiles that does everything it says it will. The most valuable features of the solution include the endpoint navigation protection, the protection related to the EMS service, as well as the control and the cloud integration capabilities. The feature we found most valuable is the AI functionality for maintaining endpoint security. This is very powerful.Valuable features include good scanning, very light footprint and management console that the client can access and (just as important) in which I can see status of groups of computers (I am a consultant, IT role).

Cons
I would like to see improvements in the anti-virus and the device control features.Managements' number one item on the "Wish List" would have to do with the real-time scan of external media inserted into any client. In the next release of this solution, I would like to see more to do with malware, encryption technology, and controlling mobile devices. It is only available to use on computers with higher-end specs. The Centralized Management could be improved. The reporting function needs to be more user friendly in general. The detection and response can always be improved. If you're not charged with administering the product and you don't do it every day it can sometimes be difficult to remember how to do the simple basic things, so some type of help or guidance for your most regular or frequent tasks would be good.

It would be nice if it had a feature for automatically generating reports on the client end for device status, security status and backup information. There needs to be more advanced analytics. It would make it a more powerful antivirus solution within the marketplace. We need to know more details about how the virus interacted with the computer. The console spins up relatively slowly, and some of the configuration items are obscure (e.g., reporting back one time per day is a default setting) and need to be tweaked.

Pricing and Cost Advice
We pay our licensing fees on a yearly basis, and everything is included in that price. The pricing is a little bit more expensive than other competitors, if you compare it to Kaspersky, for example, or McAfee. The problem is Symantec is more expensive than other vendors. We receive a discounted price for this solution because we are a non-profit organization.Compared to other products and brands here in Mexico, the price is okay, somewhere in the middle. Our solution is unique in that it can adapt to a variety of pricing and licensing constraints considering we have the corporate, government, and academic mandates. ThePricing and licensing for our country is very good. It's not that expensive and the endpoint security is very good. It's not as cheap as some others, but they are not as good.We pay on a yearly basis...Zero-day threat or advanced attacks should be part of the endpoint. The product should not require you to buy a separate license.

If you purchase for clients, then you are the managing billing entity. It's better to either get a monthly subscription check from your clients, or to prepay for the year (so as to not keep cash in reserve to pay the bill each month) IMHO.
