We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution includes features for SD-WAN and WAN such as batch conditioning and optimization.""We had several clients that were paying $7,500 a month for an MPLS line for one single 10 megabit circuit and we were able to take that from $7,500 a month down to $500 a month for two 10 megabits circuits that added redundancy where before they did not have redundancy and it gave them a much better throughput.""The platform is valuable for bandwidth reduction.""It is a scalable solution.""The tool is easy to configure due to the existing pre-configured templates. It is easy to manage compared to legacy systems, which takes time. We can complete a site within 30 minutes. The tool's best feature is outdoor onboarding. You need to bring the box to the site with the internet. It is a simple plug-and-play. The solution offers a zero-touch procedure.""The most valuable feature of Silver Peak VX is the overall performance.""The most valuable feature is the support for asymmetric lines.""The most valuable features of Silver Peak VX are we can register our customers and they can receive free training and all the solutions features."

"Cisco SD-WAN is a good product.""The most valuable feature of Cisco SD-WAN is its compatibility and integration with the rest of the infrastructure.""Troubleshooting is swift, allowing for fast turnaround times whenever we encounter an issue.""It is a very scalable solution.""The most valuable features of Cisco SD-WAN include the DIA and its integration with Cisco Umbrella for DNS security.""It's a scalable solution.""It's a complete solution with many security features.""There have been no issues with stability."

Cons
"More technical sessions should be offered for deploying the solution.""Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform’s stability and technical features need improvement.""The support, which is the direct support from Aruba, has shortcomings and needs to be improved.""The security can be improved, with the firewall for example, because they supply a basic one but not a UTM.""Reporting is something that they can improve on.""In future releases, I would like to see security features, so Aruba might need some firewalls, like other vendors.""Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform needs to improve integrations with other vendors.""We would like to have better features for path selection. For example, if we know the network is going to go down then we would like to set up an alternate route for data packets in real-time."

More Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform Cons →

"The solution could have a better web interface to simplify changing configurations.""The solution should not be so bound to ISPs.""The Cisco way of thinking is to create umbrella-like solutions. I would prefer it if this solution was separate from the entire monstrous Cisco portfolio.""I would like them to add some more SD-WAN ports. We have seen one implementation where there were four ISPs. Currently, we have a maximum of two ports for ISP in this device. Therefore, we cannot connect directly, and we need other switches. There should be some option to have more than two ports for SD-WAN.""One of the major areas that Cisco can improve on with their SD-WAN offering is their security features. When compared with Fortinet, who have what they call their 'security pillars' (e.g. firewall and security features built-in to their SD-WAN solutions), Cisco generally comes up short. With Cisco, if you need a security component, you have to pay more to get it done. So if they could add more security features that come part and parcel with their existing solutions, then I think Cisco could be very aggressive in the market.""The initial setup is really complex.""Cisco SD-WAN could improve the integration with the cloud.""The product needs to have more understanding staff in their support team. The tool needs to provide support in every stage of deployment. We did not get the expected support from their team. The product is also not easy to use."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "You have to negotiate when it comes to pricing and licensing."
  • "You typically will license the hardware and you license the software to access the hardware capabilities. The price will range anywhere from a hundred to $300 a month. There are no additional costs."
  • "The licensing fees depend on the bandwidth. As an example of what we charge our customers, for 100MB without Boost, the price is approximately $2,000. That includes the licensing and the unit."
  • "The pricing for this product is good."
  • "The license could improve for Silver Peak VX."
  • "The price of Silver Peak VX is expensive compared to competitors. There are licenses, renewals, and support that need to be paid."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect."
  • "The license for Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is paid annually."
  • More Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We pay for the Cisco Customer Care support, which is a couple of hundred dollars."
  • "80 percent reduction in WAN costs. There are no MPLS or P2P circuits left in the organization."
  • "Cisco is more expensive than some competing products."
  • "SD-WAN as a service is probably something in the neighborhood of $100 to $200 a month per location."
  • "The costs are a bit on the high side."
  • "It is much cheaper than other solutions. Most of our clients are the top 500 companies, and they all have a corporate contract."
  • "The license model is too complex with too many flavors and options. You might not be able to see it from an end user's point of view, but from a telco point of view, their license model is too complex. They should have a flexible license model. If you want to have good pricing, you need to buy it for a two-year, four-year, or five-year license immediately. Some other vendors have much more flexible license models."
  • "It is going to be on a yearly basis. There are no additional costs."
