Pros and Cons
  • "The solution's stability is good...The solution's scalability is good."
  • "Considering from a hardware perspective, some areas of concern were network cards on the models we had in our organization, which were fairly inaccessible, so we had to remove the whole motherboard and, basically, the whole system to get rid of or swap a network card."

What is our primary use case?

I use Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers in general IT infrastructure for all purposes, including virtualization and as cluster nodes with AMD's chipset drivers since there is a broad amount of cost involved for cluster nodes instead of just smart costs.

How has it helped my organization?

With Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers, my company has entered a new generation of hardware and possibilities and is happy to use them.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the solution are its integration with OpenManage Enterprise, a unified management system, a management interface, and its function as a working connectivity management platform that helps with areas like deployment.

What needs improvement?

Considering from a hardware perspective, some areas of concern were network cards on the models we had in our organization, which were fairly inaccessible, so we had to remove the whole motherboard and, basically, the whole system to get rid of or swap a network card. The aforementioned aspect can be considered for improvement. Everything else in the solution seems to be completely fine.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers for three or four years. My company is a customer of the product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution's stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

The enterprise support provided by Dell is good, especially the support for servers, which is an area where our organization has no complaints yet. If something is broken in the solution and has to be repaired, my organization has seen that the very next day, Dell's support team has always worked on it. There are some small issues related to the support offered by Dell, but it is okay to have such small issues that need to be refined, considering there are many generations of the product released during the product development phase.

I rate the technical support a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In our company, the introduction of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers helps replace cluster notes primarily in the first batch and later on certain areas of our general infrastructure, like virtualization.

What was our ROI?

With the product's OpenManage Enterprise part, my company has obviously saved money and time in computing, workflows, and jobs. I am pretty sure my company has saved a lot of money and time with the use of the product.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's prices are good, especially considering what you get to use. I have no complaints with the pricing model of the solution. The licensing aspect of the solution is also fine. My organization is happy with the product's prices since the whole package deal offered by the product is more than fine in terms of pricing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My company did not evaluate any other solutions available in the market against Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers since we were just involved in the phase of testing the systems out, and we were happy with the results, especially when considering the product as a benchmark against other tools. No real tests were conducted in my organization with any other product, so we decided to proceed with Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers.

What other advice do I have?

My company was not looking to address any challenges when implementing rack servers in our environment. My company needed new hardware to replace old ones, and we looked at what was available on the market and decided to have a proof of concept with the hardware provided by Dell. After my company got to test Dell's hardware, and once we were happy with it, we decided to order Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers.

Using the product's OpenManage console has certainly affected our company's IT staff's productivity, especially when working with the system management interface.

With the product, our company could save a lot of time since there's a need for only one or a single configuration to be rolled out on all of the devices.

As per my assessment, Dell PowerEdge Cyber Resilient Architecture approach to security in terms of silicon-based root of trust, signed firmware updates, user access security, and supply chain integrity is something we need in the IT industry. It's no secret that more and more cyber-attacks have been taking place, and taking precautions at a hardware level is as important as any other precautions taken.

I cannot comment on the area related to energy consumption in Dell PowerEdge Servers.

Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers can handle the evolving needs of high-performance workloads in our company since we could use the product in the cluster, especially with high performance, which has worked out fairly well. I think the product offers better scalability than what we had before, but we need to consider that it is a newer product in the market.

I don't know how the use of the product has impacted the overall flexibility of our organization's operations and business.

I think there is a lot of stuff to improve in the product. The product itself is solid, and it is genuinely good. It is a good hardware to begin with in general.

I rate the overall tool an eight to nine out of ten.

Scales easily by adding more servers, and setup is straightforward and fast
Pros and Cons
  • "When it comes to energy consumption they're also very good. They don't use power because they're power-hungry, but because we use them very hard."
  • "I don't know much about the new Intel CPUs, but they need to put more than two CPUs in the servers. It may be an Intel limitation, but I'm not sure."

What is our primary use case?

We use Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers powered by Intel for research calculations.

How has it helped my organization?

With Intel Xeon processors, the solution has helped improve our target workloads' performance by 50 percent at times, depending on the exact calculation we are doing.

What is most valuable?

It's great at handling high-performance workloads.

They have also done their job when it comes to security features. We haven't ever had a breach, although it is a closed network.

When it comes to energy consumption they're also very good. They don't use power because they're power-hungry, but because we use them very hard.

What needs improvement?

I don't know much about the new Intel CPUs, but they need to put more than two CPUs in the servers. It may be an Intel limitation, but I'm not sure.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Dell solutions for six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had any downtime with them due to anything on Dell's side. So far, they haven't failed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have hundreds of them, and adding as many as we can is as easy as the first one.

How are customer service and support?

The support has been great. We haven't needed it much because the servers just work. But when we had issues, I called Dell. If it was a malfunction of the hardware, we had a solution within a day, and that was usually because of my schedule, not Dell's schedule. I would tell them, "Okay, come tomorrow or the day after. That will be better for me."

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to have HP servers but they were horrible. We maintained them for about three years, but by the end of the three years, we didn't get all the features of the BIOS. The Dells, from day one, worked like a charm, with no additional fees or hidden costs, like we had with the HPs.

How was the initial setup?

It's easy to handle. You just put it in, connect it, and it works. The average time it takes me to set up a server and get it to work is about 15 minutes.

What was our ROI?

We have seen ROI compared to cloud solutions. Similarly, compared to the HPs that we didn't select, we don't need to handle and pet them all the time. We didn't need another system engineer to handle the computers. I was enough.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is great; very competitive. That's the reason we bought hundreds of them.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We mainly evaluated HPs and Lenovos. Dell was the most cost-effective, power-efficient, and the easiest to handle.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is a great service. They do their job. It requires minimal effort from my side as a system engineer, with very few errors or malfunctions.

My advice is to buy them. They are really good servers. They're straightforward. You don't need to research hidden definitions in the BIOS. They're simple to handle.

Efficient and adaptable server solution that offers robust performance, scalability and reliability
Pros and Cons
  • "The standout feature is the remote control accessibility, which allows our team to access and manage the servers locally or remotely."
  • "There might be room for improvement in terms of efficiency, particularly with PowerEdge servers."

What is our primary use case?

We continuously expand our data center infrastructure with Dell PowerEdge Servers, deploying virtualization platforms across multiple data centers. As our computing needs grow, we consistently require additional compute resources, leading to ongoing expansion efforts. Each month sees the addition of new PowerEdge Servers to accommodate our evolving requirements.

How has it helped my organization?

The most significant benefit we've experienced is the simplicity of working with a single vendor. This streamlined approach has greatly improved our service level experience. Whenever there's an issue, we can quickly reach out to them and receive prompt replacements or support. With ProSupport, the reliability and responsiveness of Dell's support services are truly impressive. We have peace of mind knowing that our technical needs will be addressed swiftly, often with next-day solutions.

Efficiency and power consumption have seen improvements in the last generation of servers. However, it's important to note that these aspects are largely comparable across vendors when utilizing the same hardware components.

The cyber-resilient architecture is a crucial feature, particularly for security purposes. Its inclusion provides reassurance for us as hosts, allowing us to confidently communicate to our customers that we employ this advanced technology in our data centers. This enhances our credibility and serves as a point of trust when engaging with our clients.

PowerEdge Servers have significantly reduced unplanned production data shutdowns, particularly compared to our previous experience with Bull, when we encountered frequent shutdowns due to hardware malfunctions, but with PowerEdge, downtime has been consistently minimal for the past five years. This improvement has greatly benefited both us and our customers, as it allows us to provide services with much better SLAs.

The adoption of the OpenManage Console has impacted our productivity positively as we are currently in the process of rolling it out for our servers.

What is most valuable?

The standout feature is the remote control accessibility, which allows our team to access and manage the servers locally or remotely. We primarily utilize these servers for virtualization, running VMware to consolidate them into a large data center. This setup perfectly aligns with our specific requirements, and our technical team thoroughly enjoys working with it. We've experienced fewer issues compared to previous hardware solutions from other providers. With PowerEdge servers, our stability has significantly improved.

What needs improvement?

There might be room for improvement in terms of efficiency, particularly with PowerEdge servers. However, it's worth noting that this issue isn't unique to Dell but rather a general concern across the industry.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using it for almost twenty years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is paramount, and it's the feedback we consistently receive from our technicians. When we seek their advice on hardware selection for various solutions, they consistently recommend Dell without hesitation.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is a strong suit, particularly for our high-demand usage scenarios. We leverage storage virtualization with VMware installation, initially setting up nodes with lower capacity. As our needs grow, we can easily expand storage by adding more nodes or increasing capacity. This scalability extends to our infrastructure, allowing for flexible expansion and adaptation as required.

How are customer service and support?

In general, it's common to encounter issues, especially during late hours when support might not be readily available. However, we haven't faced significant problems with our PowerEdge servers. Any challenges we've encountered are more often related to client devices, such as laptops from Dell. When it comes to server support, our experience has been excellent, almost rating it a perfect ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

When comparing Dell PowerEdge servers and services to other options on the market, it's challenging for us to provide a comprehensive evaluation because the majority of our servers in the data center are Dell. Therefore, our main frame of reference is Dell versus alternative solutions. According to feedback from our technicians, Dell is typically preferred over other brands like Bull due to its perceived stability. This comparison is primarily focused on hardware solutions rather than support services.

How was the initial setup?

Deploying Dell PowerEdge servers is straightforward and efficient. It saves us a significant amount of time since it's mostly plug-and-play, with minimal setup required. Our technicians have become accustomed to the process, with approximately fifty percent of the time previously spent on setup now being saved. As we continue to set up numerous Dell servers, we find the process consistently easy and reliable, with no major changes in the setup procedure.

What about the implementation team?

Our primary deployment model for PowerEdge servers revolves around virtualization. While we do have some servers deployed on-premises, the majority are situated in the data center, serving as the backbone for our virtualization solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a strong agreement in place with our parent company, that typically ensures favorable pricing terms for us, although occasionally we may need to negotiate with Dell representatives for further discounts to provide competitive pricing to our customers.

What other advice do I have?

In our business, we prioritize scalability over a plethora of features. Having identical servers across our infrastructure simplifies support and enhances technician familiarity. This uniformity streamlines processes, making it easier for our team to understand and manage the systems efficiently. Additionally, in our design and digital systems development, we lean towards utilizing Dell for its robust support and scalability, ensuring our solutions can easily scale as needed. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

The Resilient Architecture approach to security, including silicon-based firmware, signed firmware updates, user access, and supply chain security is good
Pros and Cons
  • "The DRA cards for server management is the most valuable feature. They provide a clear overview of server settings and issues. We also like that the notifications are well-organized."
  • "The price could possibly use improvement. Dell servers are not the most affordable, and pricing is always a consideration. Otherwise, I don't see any specific areas for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for Hyper-V server virtualization.

The reason we adopted Dell PowerEdge is because we wanted to simplify and streamline our IT infrastructure as much as possible. That is the challenge we were facing.

How has it helped my organization?

Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers have made my organization much more organized. Before, we didn't have DRA cards or a centralized overview of servers, so managing them required local access. Now, I can centrally monitor and control server issues across all locations.

PowerEdge Server's Cyber Resilient Architecture approach to security, including silicon-based firmware, signed firmware updates, user access, and supply chain security and integrity is good. It's especially good with regular updates that instill confidence.

I can't provide details on the processor architecture, as I'm not deeply familiar with it.

PowerEdge Rack Servers' handling of evolving high-performance workload requirements when equipped with the appropriate server is sufficient and very good. Although it's crucial for a customer to plan for future resource needs.

The servers have had an excellent impact on our organization's sustainability goals. The longer lifespan of Dell servers aligns well with the typical server lifespan calculation of five to seven years.

The OpenManage Console has affected the productivity of our IT personnel. It has become much more manageable. It's easier to administer servers, even for colleagues who are less technically inclined.

What is most valuable?

The DRA cards for server management is the most valuable feature. They provide a clear overview of server settings and issues. We also like that the notifications are well-organized.

What needs improvement?

The price could possibly use improvement. Dell servers are not the most affordable, and pricing is always a consideration. Otherwise, I don't see any specific areas for improvement.

In a future release, having a ten-gigabit LAN onboard from the start would be a significant advantage. It would eliminate the need for aftermarket upgrades.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The servers have good stability. Servers need to run smoothly, and Dell servers do that reliably.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability depends on how you plan and allocate resources. With proper planning, it's scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate their support a nine out of ten. It would be even better if ProSupport for servers were integrated and didn't require additional fees or licenses.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were previously using HPE ProLiant and Microtech servers. They were not as user-friendly or easy to manage.

How was the initial setup?

We did the setup. We installed a Windows server and configured the hard drives.

The complexity of the setup is as complex as setting up any server. It's not as simple as a laptop but not excessively complex if you've done it a few times.

Our strategy was to set up the servers and then we migrated VMs from the old servers once the new ones were ready.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft licensing for Hyper-V servers is a challenge, but Dell's hardware may be slightly more expensive. Overall, it's manageable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at HP again but decided on Dell due to our positive experience with Dell laptops.

Also, Dell's Pro Support is something I find valuable, and I believe it's not available to the same extent as other providers.

What other advice do I have?

PowerEdge Rack Servers' energy consumption depends on how the server is utilized. I can't provide specific details, but every server requires power.

The use of PowerEdge Rack Servers hasn't had a significant impact on the overall flexibility of our operation. If anything, it has ensured everything runs smoothly.

I would rate Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers a nine out of ten. There's not much that needs improvement. Your success with it largely depends on how well you plan.

Gute Sicherheitsarchitektur, einschließlich siliziumbasierter Firmware, signierter Firmware-Updates, Benutzerzugang und Sicherheit der Lieferkette

Was ist unser Hauptanwendungsfall?

Was muss verbessert werden?

Has integrated management and can handle compute- and network-intensive workloads
Pros and Cons
  • "The PowerEdge systems management frameworks have enabled us to progress towards full automation when it comes to managing PowerEdge."
  • "There needs to be more flexibility for business options."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for data protection and for securing customer data using a solution from Veritas Technology and Dell's hardware.

How has it helped my organization?

The PowerEdge systems management frameworks have enabled us to progress towards full automation when it comes to managing PowerEdge. Especially on the security front, we extensively rely on the APIs provided by Dell management systems, and we do integrate it with our software.

In terms of operations, this gives a lot of flexibility. Also different customers have different choices and options, and we can enable different security modes and options for our customers using these features.

What is most valuable?

The features I've found to be most valuable are integrated management, hardware flexibility, and the latest technology that Dell brings to the table.

We deploy PowerEdge servers in a hyperconverged environment, and often, the workloads are compute- and network-intensive workloads. The PowerEdge servers are capable of taking on more workloads and offering more benefits to the customers.

We extensively rely on PowerEdge servers' security features, and we use APIs offered by Dell systems so that we can enable those security features depending on customer requirements.

iDRAC Telemetry does offer a lot of capabilities, and we expose those capabilities to our customers. We use iDRAC extensively for managing the systems, report generation, understanding firmware deviation and drift, and many other capabilities.

What needs improvement?

There needs to be more flexibility for business options.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it for the past five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a pretty stable solution; no issues have been reported. All of the customers are pretty happy with the Dell PowerEdge Rack servers.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable. The hyperconverged solution is all about scaling based on customer demand. Our software and the Dell hardware are pretty linearly scalable, which helps our customers have a predictable way of expanding to address increased demands.

We have storage and backup administrators in the data centers and enterprise world who use this product.

We definitely want to increase usage and accelerate and expand more.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is awesome. Every time we have run into some typical third party firmware issues, which may not be Dell's problem, we have always got great support from Dell. I would give them a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. We haven't run into any complexities when setting up Dell systems for our end-customers.

For the deployment, one person is sufficient to handle it without any hassles.

The maintenance and management are pretty simple, and an administrator can manage hundreds of these systems efficiently.

Deployment typically takes no more than 20 to 25 minutes maximum if the customer is ready with the network and has taken care of any other environments.

We definitely want to leverage the automation capabilities in terms of deployment because the deployment times will be even less. Moving forward, that's the plan.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't see any issues with respect to licensing. It's power-efficient, so it's beneficial to the customers price-wise. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fee.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at well known server vendors. The main reason we went with Dell PowerEdge servers is the stability of the product.

The predictable linear scale and the fact that most of our customers love Dell hardware were the other reasons.

Also, if we integrate and support Dell hardware, then it stands to reason that our solution will also get a wider read option.

What other advice do I have?

The biggest lesson I've learned is that with modern technology the parameters are rapidly changing. So, you have to make sure to look at all the current and future growth requirements and evaluate accordingly.

I recommend Dell PowerEdge Rack servers and rate them at ten on a scale from one to ten. Go with the latest technology, the latest server, and the firmware that's offered by Dell. Leverage all the scalability features, which are built for the next generation, that is, for hyperconverged and cloud type of deployments.

Is stable and includes security features such as firmware, drift protection, and systems management
Pros and Cons
  • "PowerEdge is one of the top solutions when it comes to the security features that it provides including firmware, drift protection, and systems management."
  • "One of the things that I've noticed is that over time, the system degrades, meaning that little things don't work. For example, the hard drive would need to be replaced or iDRAC would not be functioning properly. We may have to flash the firmware. It is not like some other hardware where it just runs without issues for four or five years. With Dell, generally, there are little hiccups here and there."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for our on-premises infrastructure to mainly provide office support and data storage.

How has it helped my organization?

We use it for data storage and it allows for easy access to the data on-premises. It has helped increase staff productivity.

What is most valuable?

PowerEdge is one of the top solutions when it comes to the security features that it provides including firmware, drift protection, and systems management.

It's a pretty nice system. You can log in to iDRAC, you can look at the logs, the temperature, etc. Essentially, all of the metrics of the server are there, so you can get a complete view and immediately know what's going on.

What needs improvement?

One of the things that I've noticed is that over time, the system degrades, meaning that little things don't work. For example, the hard drive would need to be replaced or iDRAC would not be functioning properly. We may have to flash the firmware. It is not like some other hardware where it just runs without issues for four or five years. With Dell, generally, there are little hiccups here and there.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used PowerEdge Rack Servers on and off for about 20 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable. I would give it a ten out of ten. The system is pretty redundant, so we never really have any downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 250 users. It's used 90% in the company, in terms of our infrastructure. We do not plan to increase usage because we're moving more things to the cloud. We're trying to reduce our server footprint on-premises.

How are customer service and support?

Dell's technical support is pretty good. I'd give them a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We've always switched between Dell and HP, depending on the current state and the cost. The reason for switching is primarily the cost involved.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not intuitive. The first one took a while, but after that, we were done within an hour.

When deploying the PowerEdge solution, we were able to use the automated server and OS deployment features, but I had to talk to Dell support. They had to walk me through it. However, once you do it once, it becomes very easy.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it ourselves with help from Dell's technical support.

For deployment and maintenance, we need one person.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When you compare public cloud solutions to PowerEdge in terms of cost, initially the cost of Dell servers or Dell technology was really high. However, right now it's on par and maybe even cheaper when we use Dell hardware. If we don't swap it out in three years and stretch it to four or five years, then we can get even more of an ROI versus cloud cost.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We've always chosen HP or Dell depending on the year, the product, and any promotions offered by the respective companies. We generally use Dell laptops, so by default we often go with Dell servers as part of the ecosystem.

What other advice do I have?

I highly recommend Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers; they are solid. If you do your due diligence and do your homework or your janitorial work, they'll never break.

I would give this solution a ten on a scale from one to ten.

Enables us to do remote troubleshooting
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is so easy."
  • "As the disks and memory should be expandable, I would highlight scalability as an issue."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to help me with battery and memory DIMM errors.

What is most valuable?

The remote management control is a valuable feature. There is no need to connect the monitor, keyboard, or mouse. We can install our operating system and whatever else we wish. Thanks to the enterprise license which enables remote connectivity there is no need to connect. This allows us to make use as we see fit, such as that involving the operating system installation and, occasionally, the host machine, in which case we can connect to the console remotely. This allows us to do remote troubleshooting, which is a nice feature.

What needs improvement?

When it comes to battery and memory DIMM errors, it seems there is a bug. Also, the number of disks should be expandable. Many medium and large companies are using cloud-based rack servers. There should be a greater amount of CPU, memory, and hard disks. As the disks and memory should be expandable, I would highlight scalability as an issue.

For how long have I used the solution?

I am currently using Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers and have been doing so over the course of the past 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I feel Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers to be reliable solutions for rack only because this rack solutions is not applicable to other cases. It is reliable, based on the rack solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When it comes to the rack server, the number of disks lack scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers' remote support is quite good. Many a times I have opened a case and received from them a prompt response and solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is so easy. One just need establish a remote connection with the network console, allowing the applications database to be installed as desired.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing comes with a warranty.

If I wish to use the remote console, I can access it so that I may obtain the enterprise license on the server. Once two or three years have elapsed, or subsequent to getting the warranty, there is no need to get the license.

The cost goes up when taking into account the enterprise-level license.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Blade in addition to the solution.

What other advice do I have?

The reason we use on-premises and not cloud is because we are talking about a bank. The financial data is not published outside.

Before I could recommend implementing the solution, I wish to describe a scenario. As mentioned, in terms of the rack server I can speak positively. However, were I to compare Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers to other solutions, such as Blade, it wouldn't be helpful for this rack server only, as we are merely talking about CPU, RAM and some disks.

Owing to the scalability issue, I rate Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers as a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Easy to set up and the remote management capability is good
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are remote management and iDRAC."
  • "The design, in terms of power efficiency, can be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We are a solution provider and this is one of the storage products that we implement for our clients.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are remote management and iDRAC. Manageability is definitely one of the good points for Dell servers.

This is a quality product that can be customized for our clients.

What needs improvement?

The design, in terms of power efficiency, can be improved.

Improvements should be made in terms of field expandability. Scalability, in general, has room for improvement.

Support for virtualization support can be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Dell Rack Servers for about 15 years, since 2004.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers are definitely stable. Once we start one, we don't shut them down. The run for three, four, or five years at a time, and the performance does not decrease.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is easy to scale, although when the server is built, you need to include options for future expandability. In cases where we create room in advance, it is easy. Otherwise, there can be some difficulty.

How are customer service and technical support?

The local support in Dhaka is very good and we are happy with it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have worked with a variety of Dell PowerEdge models including 1850, 2850, 2900, 2950, 5710, 720, and 740.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy, as is the management. The time required for deployment depends on the environment and requirements. For example, it will differ based on whether it is a cluster deployment versus a VM implementation.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also work with similar servers from HPE and Cisco. Many of the features and capabilities are the same. The suitability of one product over another depends on the specific requirements.

What other advice do I have?

In summary, this is a good product and I have had a good experience with it.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
