Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access Previous Solutions

DP
vice president at IMP Solutions

When they switched to Fortinet, they did so for a couple of reasons, the main one being operational simplicity. Most of the customers have fewer people available to support their networks.

They can't have something complex because they don't have enough people, and there's turnover, too. They need something simpler so a new person can come in and easily pick it up. Fortinet is by no means simple, but it's easier to manage than Cisco and Aruba. Fortinet is 30 to 40 percent cheaper than Cisco or Aruba, and that's a significant issue in IT budgets today.

I used Cisco and Ubiquiti switches but chose FortiSwitch and haven't regretted it.

I have used Cisco. I find Fortinet much easier to manage compared to Cisco switches.

Moreover, we needed to transition to newer technologies and equipment as part of a broader diversification strategy. So, we switched to what they were using.

We have worked with Cisco and a few other vendors. The deployment is easier with Fortinet.

In very complex environments, there is an advantage with Cisco switching, but that doesn't affect us much because we are not in that specific market.

We have used Cisco and Ubiquiti switches. FortiSwitch frees you every time you set the switches or configure them over and over again. It is much better than other solutions.

Before this, we were using Ubiquiti wireless access points. However, because that was not enterprise-level, the company policy changed that we should only use enterprise-level devices, and Fortinet was chosen over Cisco. We changed all the Ubiquiti access points to FortiAPs and all the switches that used to be HPE to FortiSwitches, and the firewall also is FortiGate so that they'll all work together to get alerts.

We chose the product because we worked with Fortinet's firewalls and switches and wanted to explore it hands-on.

I prefer using Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access for small or medium businesses due to affordable pricing, ease of installation, and support. However, I recommend Cisco for enterprises as it is more trustworthy.

Previously we were with Cisco, but we were already using FortiMail and received the distribution for Fortinet. We purchase Fortinet firewalls.

The firewall and the mail were already working for us, so we thought that would just do everything with Fortinet. Then we can use our company to demonstrate what Fortinet has to offer.

We have multifactor authentication running on Fortinet, FortiAnalyer, and FortiManager.

We switched to Fortinet FortiSwitch Secure Access because it can integrate to the firewall in FortiGate. This means that we can centralize the management console on the firewall to manage the security and network on one brand. It lowers the cost of management.
