What is most valuable?

This solution has many good features. The security features are about the best that I've seen anywhere. I really like the fact that I am able to generate FortiCloud reports.

What needs improvement?

FortiWAN was supposed to help in doing intersite linking, but we've realized that most of the ISPs use BGP. FortiWAN supports OSPF but does not support the BGP protocol. This is a problem for us because without BGP they are not doing anything, and we've had to pack them up. I would like to see the… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for this solution is good.

What other advice do I have?

This is a product that I recommend. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

What is most valuable?

The solution helps me to do internal routing and to configure interfaces. FortiMail works on the profile.

What needs improvement?

I would like it if the solution could be more affordable.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company pays around 28.000 Egyptian Pounds per year for this program. It is rather expensive in my opinion.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

My company previously used a software but when using an anti-spam solution as a hardware, it's better than an application, because an application could be corrupted.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this program a ten out of ten, because it's configured right. The person who configured it actually knows what the real function of anti-spam is. It protects me from cryptography. I do see some… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We compared it to Sophos, but it is more for users that aren't IT experts. It is so easy that anyone can use it - even my young child can configure Sophos. But for Fortinet, you need an IT expert… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Great logging analsys with fortianalyzer

What needs improvement?

Docker Container to have a good integration with kubernetes and more throughput as Cisco FP

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay an annual license fee. It is rather expensive so I would like to perhaps see a drop in price in the future.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

I used Palo Alto NG Firewalls before but I wasn't impressed by the features it offer and the price was also too high.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to other customers would be to have good knowledge about the traffic in their network. In the future, I would like to see more user-friendly dashboards and a… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I didn't evaluate other options because I like the experience I had with Fortinet, so I simply prefer Fortinet.

What do you think of Fortinet FortiGate?

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use for this solution is as an SMB boundary firewall, and we now use their Security Fabric.

How has it helped my organization?

This is a quality product with ok support, and it is better than the competition we've tried.

What is most valuable?

Security Fabric makes VLANs a breeze. It impresses customers, as well as saves them money over the long run when comparing apples to apples.

What needs improvement?

FortiOS is not simple. Too many people think it should be simple to use, but the complexity of the product makes that impossible.

For how long have I used the solution?

Seventeen years.

How are customer service and technical support?

The support for this solution is ok.

What is most valuable?

It's the extra security that is the most valuable feature. You have insight into your traffic. There are some great insights into what utilities hackers are trying to exploit. It blocks a lot of stuff from the internet.

What needs improvement?

The solution is rather complicated. If you know what to do, it's not bad, but it's complicated for a first time user to configure the solution. What I'd like to improve are the custom signatures. If you want a good security solution, you have to get in kicking high for things that are getting… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You can set up licensing on a monthly or yearly basis. I'm not sure about pricing.

What other advice do I have?

Every external solution acceptable for work will use FortiWeb. We do have three or four FortiWeb solutions now and if there is anything we need to share through the internet, it's going to be through FortiWeb. In terms of advice, I'd say take a good look at the support side of the help documents… more»

What do you think of Fortinet FortiGate?

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for our small company. It is basically for users on the LAN-side. So, it is just for browsing mostly.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the policy routing and application control. In addition, the firewall will act as a call-switch. So, the performance within the LAN is good.

What needs improvement?

The UI could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

More than five years.

How is customer service and technical support?

We sometimes wait 30 to 40 minutes to get a tech engineer. But, then they are pretty good. Whenever I call for a problem they will assist me and correct me and they will fix up the call. Only one they are sure we have solved the problem will they disconnect from the call.…

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Setup cost may be not so low, as you expect, because it depends on different factors, but TCO for 5 years may pleasantly surprise you.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We used an old IPS from Cisco. We switched because of End-of-Support on that device.

What other advice do I have?

Many interesting things are hidden in CLI, they can help you in different situations. Web-interface (GUI) is primarily intended for day-to-day routine. Don't underestimate… more»

What is most valuable?

FortiWeb offers machine learning in the latest product. Before that, there was an auto-learning feature. This fixed many problems. There are no false negatives now. Fortinet FortiWeb now has artificial intelligence and machine learning.

How has it helped my organization?

With this product, you can secure all the Fortinet products together. I'm an entrepreneur. Most people fail in the publication of a firewall.

What needs improvement?

What I would like to see improved in Fortinet FortiWeb will probably be included in the next release. The legal feature needs better step-by-step use of the form. We use the FortiGate guidebook for step-by-step instructions. But the FortiWeb guidebook is only is a demonstration kit which is not… more»

What other advice do I have?

In the version of Fortinet FortiWeb that we have, it does not include the scanner. We cannot access every feature. What do you think of Fortinet FortiGate?

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for our firewall, Application Control, QoS, IPSec, and SSL VPN.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has a very friendly GUI and CLI as compared to other vendors.

What is most valuable?

The features that we have found most valuable are the SSL VPN and the user Portal.

What needs improvement?

This product could be improved with active directory integration and better handling in IPsec and GRE Tunnels. There are not enough recent online materials to assist in integration with Cisco for VPN, GRE, and IPSec.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Our experience with this solution is that it is stable and reliable.

The filtering is really effective to protect any mail environment of any company. I can definitely recommend this solution and my rating is a nine out of ten.
