It's flexible, customizable, and easy to integrate via API, but the licensing model may limit scalability
Pros and Cons
  • "Vision One is versatile and can be integrated with many SIEMs. You're not limited to only one SIEM, such as Microsoft Sentinel. The API integrations are seamless, and we have all the documentation needed to integrate Vision One via API."
  • "The licensing model could be improved. To gain full coverage, you need to spend more to buy subscriptions for each kind of service they offer. It will start to be pricey if you want full coverage."

What is our primary use case?

I use Vision One for security monitoring. We monitor any alerts triggered in the console and detections based on the rules we've set. We analyze those and raise tickets when we find something suspicious that needs to be escalated.

We deploy and configure the solution based on the client's needs. Some clients are multinational companies with many locations we monitor throughout various regions. It might require different frameworks for privacy laws and regulatory compliance.

How has it helped my organization?

Vision One is versatile and can be integrated with many SIEMs. You're not limited to only one SIEM, such as Microsoft Sentinel. The API integrations are seamless, and we have all the documentation needed to integrate Vision One via API.

It takes a few months to realize the solution's full benefits. To get complete visibility and control of your cloud environment, you need to configure it correctly and have the right policies in place for response.

What is most valuable?

I like the degree to which you can fine-tune Vision One's policies. It takes some time to get them how you want them, but it has helped us. Vision One's detection capabilities stand out because they work at every level, from the network to the endpoint and application levels.

It monitors in real-time. There's no lag in the live detection and response. The multi-cloud protection is excellent, but you need to have a specialized understanding of the cloud framework, the policies you want in place, and what you are monitoring. Once you set that up, it becomes easier in terms of analyzing the logs and alerts. All the information is well structured on the console, giving you detailed visibility.

Vision One protects workloads on all the major cloud providers. You can use it with AWS, GCP, or Azure. It's highly useful with AWS. The integrations mostly primarily benefit AWS if I'm not mistaken.

What needs improvement?

The licensing model could be improved. To gain full coverage, you need  to spend more to buy subscriptions for each kind of service they offer. It will start to be pricey if you want full coverage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Vision One for about two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have had no issues with the console regarding stability that required me to escalate to support or ask for technical assistance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability could be an issue in terms of cost, but integration is effortless, so it's easy to scale when deploying but not cost-effective.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used many tools, and many of them offer the same coverage or features. They have the same capabilities, but every console is different. Vision One ranks highly among EDR or XDR systems on Gartner's rankings. It has so many possibilities. I would compare it to Sentinel because it works on so many levels.  However, I can't say that it's beating everyone. It ranks up there, but it still isn't surpassing the leaders.

How was the initial setup?

Deploying Vision One can be straightforward if you have the expertise and understand the architecture. API is the easiest way to connect. It's a little more complicated if you're connecting it through another SIEM or forwarding the logs. That's a more archaic method, but everyone uses API integration. It took a couple of weeks from the initial installation to go live.

There are many deployment phases. The first is the information-gathering stage. We provide clients with questionnaires asking what they need. We only needed two staff members to deploy it. Vision One requires some maintenance. We need to perform health checks to ensure that everything is working properly.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Trend Micro Vision One Cloud Security 7 out of 10. It's one of the top three EDR/XDR solutions I've used.

Provides good compliance frameworks, but the visualization features need improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "It has the best EDR functionality for cloud and typical endpoints."
  • "Trend Vision One - Cloud Security could improve connections with different types of authentication and user groups concerning cloud services."

What is our primary use case?

We use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security in demo capabilities for features like endpoint detection response, monitoring, and cloud storage. Our company uses products like Jira, Confluence, and Slack. Trend Vision integration allows us to scan data and code for application security.

The product's main use case is detecting and alerting suspicious activity. We haven't fully rolled it over. We are still in the evaluation stage, looking for a vendor that offers one encompassing solution primarily for the on-cloud environment. We might use Trend Vision as a primary tool as it has better integration features than previously used EDR and network monitoring tools.

How has it helped my organization?

We already have existing EDR products. However, Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provides one encompassing tool that seamlessly integrates all the security functionalities. It is the biggest use case we are concerned with, as we find integrating multiple security products complicated in terms of monitoring accounts.

What is most valuable?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security offers good compliance frameworks by default. It is a major feature for us being a high trust company. It has the best EDR functionality for cloud and typical endpoints. We can enjoy the usage of seamless EDR for cloud products and online storage without a need for integration with other compliance solutions like Slack and Jira.

What needs improvement?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security could improve connections with different types of authentication and user groups concerning cloud services. There should be better visualization for architecture with graphical features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have been impressed with the product's stability. I am happy to find a solution with all the essential features we require in one tool. It helps our security team. They don't have to worry about various things, especially new areas in fields, specifically for on-cloud environments that we otherwise had a bit tougher time finding consistent monitoring.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security has 12-13 users in our security and DevSecOps teams. I haven't encountered any issues with scalability for adding or removing devices.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are using CrowdStrike and SentinelOne.

Compared with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, SentinelOne works well, focusing on EDR functions specifically. However, Trend Vision offers all the essential security options, including container security. It helps us leverage Kubernetes deployments and containers. Additionally, its cloud file storage features benefit us as data is extremely important for our company being a healthcare niche. It works like a pro in that category for us.

How was the initial setup?

They provide automated updates for the product's maintenance.

What about the implementation team?

Our infrastructure team implemented the product.

What other advice do I have?

We first saw Trend Vision One - Cloud Security on Amazon Web Service Marketplace while looking for security solutions. From my experience using it in a demo capacity, it has a pretty good documentation section. I can find any resource easily.

I have set up virtual networks on the cloud for the demo and conducted the test. The product gives us full visibility and control over the cloud environment. Its automated reporting features make the frequent audit processes easier and faster for our company instead of occupying a huge team of executives for several days.

As we work with cloud products, having visualization and control capacity is crucial. Here, the product helps us save unnecessary charges due to poor monitoring of applications on the EC2 server. With more visualization, it becomes easier to look at the bigger picture.

The insights are not completely visible, but it gives enough oversight by monitoring the environment and sending alerts. With a good defensive team, we can protect the architecture from attacks using this tool.

I don't have enough experience with it to determine the level of accuracy in terms of alerting and finding bypasses for attacks. I will develop more confidence in its ability after experiencing different attacks and incidents. I am not discrediting the tool at all. However, trust is developed with time and familiarity with the product over time for many users. I can say CrowdStrike and SentinelOne are good EDR solutions as I have a bit more experience working with them than Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. I advise new users to focus on the product's basic features first and then dive into a few more advanced and unique features.

Based on my time working with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, I rate it a seven out of ten.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

High return on investment due to flexibility, but the licensing is a bit convoluted
Pros and Cons
  • "The tech support is excellent. They really know their products. They also know a lot of about the integrations between different solutions."
  • "The initial setup is easy for someone who operates container platforms on a daily basis. However, it could be difficult for those coming purely from informational security or another field of an IT."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case for Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is protecting microservices architecture.

What is most valuable?

I find the visibility inside the traffic that traverses towards the microservice architecture and between the pods to be the most valuable Trend Vision One - Cloud Security feature.

What needs improvement?

The licensing could be made easier to understand. As it stands, it is a bit convoluted and you need to invest a solid amount of time to understand the licensing for the base service and also for every single additional component that you are using. You need to count how many hours per month are free, how many serverless containers are free, how much of counted traffic is free, and then pay after that. In other words, you need to prepare yourself really well before you even start your journey with this product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for the last year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is solid. On a scale of one to five, with one being very unstable and five being exceptionally stable, I would give Trend Vision One - Cloud Security the highest score.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is not an issue with any cloud service, so it is not a problem in this case either.

How are customer service and support?

The tech support is excellent. They really know their products. They also know a lot of about the integrations between different solutions.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy for someone who operates container platforms on a daily basis. However, it could be difficult for those coming purely from informational security or another field of an IT. How difficult deployment will be will depends on the person deploying. I personally found the initial setup to be very straightforward but there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question.

The implementation strategy for this solution entails first understanding the entire pipeline of your development process and the possibilities of the type of services that you are providing from inside the containerized environment. After that, you can just start applying the security features towards the infrastructure itself.

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security can usually be deployed by a team of two engineers. Depending on the complexity of the environment, deployment will take between two and four weeks. If Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is being deployed for a popular service that runs multiple different services inside a containerized environment, deployment could take a month. But, in most standard enterprise cases, deployment takes maybe two to three weeks.

What was our ROI?

The return on investment is very high because it is so flexible and you can actually cancel this service whenever you want. You use it only while you need it. The moment you lose interest, it is not working for you anymore, or you have completed the whole pipeline, in CICD pipeline form, you can just terminate your contract. There is nothing that the vendor can do to force you to continue working with them. As easy as it is to integrate Trend Vision One - Cloud Security in your infrastructure, it is just as easy to decouple it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is not way too expensive, but they could be a bit cheaper. The subscription is mostly on a monthly basis, but that all depends on multiple additional services. The solution itself basically comes with only one functionality, which is scanning the images that are deployed inside your infrastructure. However, other features like data integrity, traffic flow integrity, and similar additional services are paid over the top. The basic service is just a foundation and depending on how many additional services you sign up for over the top, it gives you a better picture of what is happening inside your infrastructure.

What other advice do I have?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security deployment structure is hybrid. The engine is in the cloud, but the agents are inside Kubernetes or OpenShift platforms. The telemetry is exchange between the on-prem device and the microservice infrastructure and cloud engine. No matter where the microservice architecture is right now, it's not purely natively full cloud solutions. It depends on where the containers are.

It has a simple dashboard, is easy to manage and control, and is stable
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable part of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is its dashboard, as it's simple. It's easy to manage, and you can better control the solution."
  • "One area for improvement in Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is marketing; in particular, Trend Vision should update the marketing documentation. The information needs to be more comprehensive."

What is our primary use case?

Most clients use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to protect endpoints. The solution is also utilized in VMs.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable part of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is its dashboard, as it's simple.

On the technical and financial side, Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is also good. It's easy to manage, and you can better control the solution. Analysts in my company find it easier to prepare and work with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security versus other solutions.

Based on the financial aspects and costs, converting clients into Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is easier.

What needs improvement?

One area for improvement in Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is marketing; in particular, Trend Vision should update the marketing documentation. Sometimes, I have questions, or customers have questions, but finding the answers in the documentation can be challenging. The information needs to be more comprehensive.

It would also be better if there's custom documentation about Trend Vision One - Cloud Security that contains answers to questions that could arise from clients.

As for additional features I want added to Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, I have none for now because I'm satisfied with the solution. Even my clients like it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been dealing with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for three or four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a stable product. I didn't experience interruptions or any problems with it stability-wise.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For now, there's no need to scale Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, but my company will review this aspect with the clients before the end of the quarter.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is good. My company didn't have problems getting support during the presales phase. It also received some support during the contract-building phase.

I noticed that getting support in the first sale is easier. However, in the subsequent sales, you'd have to send some messages or emails to get support, but it was good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing for Trend Vision One - Cloud Security in the corporate market is okay. You must explain how stable and easy it is to manage so that pricing won't be a problem for your clients.

What other advice do I have?

Some of my clients use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.

I'm a reseller of the solution, and I've been offering the latest version of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.

Four to seven analysts take care of the deployment and maintenance of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.

I'd tell people looking into using the solution that it's one of the best solutions in the market. It's stable, and I didn't experience any problems using it. Other people or companies may have a different experience than mine, but Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a product I would recommend.

My rating for the product is eight out of ten.

Easy to set up with good workload management and fair pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "The stability is quite good."
  • "The product could use a little bit of automation."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for securing cloud workflows as well as having a dashboard. We use it just to keep a check on the usage.

What is most valuable?

The best feature depends on the use case. Most people would like to see what usage they have, and based on that, they can choose how to reduce their billing. The visibility provided is quite useful. The workload management is good.

It offered an easy setup.

The stability is quite good.

The pricing is fair.

What needs improvement?

The product could use a little bit of automation. That would definitely help.

It would be nice if they could make it more robust.

Machine learning would be useful, so that they system can learn and share better insights and analytics.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for around ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. It's reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

I'd rate the stability five out of five.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We've had no problems with scaling. I'd rate the capability to scale at a five out of five.

In a recent deployment, we had a client that had about 10,000 users on the solution. It's a pretty big enterprise.

How are customer service and support?

Level 1 support is provided by us via our support team. For anything that we are not able to fix, we reach out to Trend Vision. Support has always been good as well, from Trend Vision. We've been pleased with their level of support.

We have a shared support center wherein different customers will call in. It's not for just one dedicated customer; it's a shared model. For the cloud team, we have around 100 resources that are deployed, and they work on shifts to cover the environment 24/7.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The solution is very easy to set up and implement.

We have been in the industry for a long time. There, for us, it would be very easy to implement. I'm not sure about different partners.

If you talk about the technicality, it's something that very tech-savvy people can handle. L1 or L2 engineers would be able to deploy it correctly if guided perfectly.

I'd rate the ease of setup a four out of five.

While the implementation size and scope may vary, usually there are two to three people who would be able to take care of everything in terms of deployment and maintenance.

The deployment itself may take about a month from start to finish.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is very subjective. I wouldn't be able to comment on that. That said, I haven't heard a negative thing from customers using it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's not overly expensive. If you want to get the Cisco version, that is pricier than Trend Vision. The pricing is somewhere in the between; it's not very something like what you would expect from niche players and and not something like a premium player like Cisco - it's right in the middle in terms of cost.

This is a yearly paid service. Users can decide to pay monthly, quarterly, or annually.

There may be certain additional items, however, it depends on the use case.

What other advice do I have?

We are partnered with Trend Vision to handle their India business. There are different levels of partners. We would be considered platinum.

We are dealing with the latest version of the solution.

Whether the solution is deployed on-premises or on the cloud depends on the client. Some use cases require an on-premises private cloud. Some workloads may be on the public cloud. We've also had some that use both private and public clouds.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

New users need to be very particular about what their use case will be. They need to decide their use case and the success criteria before assessing different solutions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Great protection, lots of features, and good reliability
Pros and Cons
  • "The security is good."
  • "The pricing can get high."

What is our primary use case?

It is a server security solution. If a customer is looking for a Windows server plus security, if that is using the Linux platform, in that case, we recommend this solution.

We have to monitor on a daily basis. We have to manage alerts that come through and monitor for vulnerabilities.

What is most valuable?

There are multiple features. The vulnerability protection feature, which we call virtual patching, is excellent, for example. If my server is not properly uploaded, that server will be vulnerable from a network perspective. And if that server is critical, it's very dangerous for my customers, and, if, due to some network function, I'm not able to update that server, I'd want some kind of feature which can protect that server in case of a vulnerability attack. Trend Vision can identify issues. If any vulnerability attack is there, it can secure that particular server in real-time. It gives users time to update the server and resolve the problem.

There is a login inspection feature that can track events. It will showcase the highly critical ones on the dashboard for review.

The security is good. We have control over restrictions. For example, who can log onto the server and who can install applications. Users without permission will not be able to act.

Trend Vision has a large number of our entities. They have a bug bounty program. You can activate their signatures directly from a scanning perspective. They also detect new vulnerabilities of third-party solutions. It helps you gain total visibility.

The solution is stable and scalable.

What needs improvement?

The pricing can get high.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for the past three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product can scale.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good.

How was the initial setup?

If I'm going for the cloud version. For my clients, we have to solve the agent for the machine. In that case, 4GB is enough for my agent to work so that performance will not be down.

It only takes a minute to download the solution if the connectivity is good.

We cannot leave it once it's done. We need to monitor it and do so daily, looking for vulnerabilities and dealing with issues.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing depends on the number of units. However, it is challenging compared to other products.

What other advice do I have?

We are a user and a partner.

We are on around version 50. Whatever the latest is is the one we are on.

It comes in two different models. One is on-prem, and the second is cloud-based. The cloud version is available on Trend Vision's website.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. From a security perspective, it's good. In general, I would recommend it.

A stable workload security solution with a useful virtual patching feature.
Pros and Cons
  • "Virtual patching is one of the key features, which is executed with their IPS."
  • "The firewall configuration should have been automated based on the understanding of the application, utilities, and protocols."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to secure corporate infrastructure on the cloud layer, data center layer, and on-premises layer. This includes Kubernetes cloud security, which helps control or provides visibility on the DevOps activity. It helps 90 plus with operating system support.

How has it helped my organization?

It simplifies security by integrating all the cyber infrastructure layers, be it a cloud, hybrid, or on-prem. You get to manage all these things from a single management console and point of view. It's a feature-rich product that's straightforward and helps any organization to manage their server, DevOps, production, and infrastructure completely while securing them. It makes it more simple from a security point of view.

What is most valuable?

It has got 90 plus with support, which is key for today's DevOps environment. Virtual patching is one of the key features, which is executed with their IPS.

What needs improvement?

The price could be better. Automation could also be better. The firewall configuration should have been automated based on the understanding of the application, utilities, and protocols.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been dealing with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is stable. It's a very good product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is very scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex because it's deployed as a workload on server infrastructure. Each server will have different ways of working, so it depends.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's a slightly expensive product.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We, as a partner, try to propose multiple vendors, but when compared to Sophos cybersecurity or McAfee's cybersecurity, we found that Trend Vision was far better.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise potential customers to choose the right vendor who can deploy the product properly. I would recommend this solution.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Trend Vision One - Cloud Securitya nine.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
